It can be difficult to find the correct metadata source for a game for some titles that have been remade or remastered or are simply part of a series with many distinc entries, e.g. "Final Fantasy". Due to the limited number of results shown in the popup, the actual result for any reasonable search term may drop off the bottom of the list.

Being able to search directly by IGDB ID or Steam app ID would make it easy to actually get the correct source entry for a game. Some tools allow searching for unique IDs on various metadata searches with a prefix, e.g. igdb:158980 or steam:1173770 as a search term to return the 2021 "Pixel Remaster" version of Final Fantasy from the relevant metadata provider.
