An optional boot parameter is introduced to allow client
administrators to specify a string that the Linux NFS client can
insert into its nfs_client_id4 id string, to make it both more
globally unique, and to ensure that it doesn't change even if the
client's nodename changes.
If this boot parameter is not specified, the client's nodename is
used, as before.
Client installation procedures can create a unique string (typically,
a UUID) which remains unchanged during the lifetime of that client
instance. This works just like creating a UUID for the label of the
system's root and boot volumes.

This file has turned out to be a pure write-only file that causes merge
conflicts and has no actual redeeming features.
There is never any reason to add stuff to this idiotic file. Either
something isn't getting used, and you should just remove it, or there is
no excuse for removing it in the first place. Just stop the idiocy.
It has also been the excuse for just plain bad behavior ("Hey, I don't
like xyz, so let's mark it for removal" followed by "Hey, look, it been
in feature-removal.txt for six months now, so we should remove it").
The recent bogus setitimer() ABI change request was just the most recent
example of pointless and incorrect mental masturbation involving this
file, and I'm tired of the silly and pointless conflicts in the file.
This removal was discussed during the recent kernel summit, and while
Steven Rostedt suggested we should just enter the file itself in the
feature-removal schedule (to see if anybody who edits the file actually
looks at it), that's cute but non-productive.

Allow users to specify the phy interface of the CPSW slaves. The new
node parameter is called "phy_if_mode" and is optional. The original
behaviour of the driver is preserved when not given.

remove the old obsolete ub.c driver from the tree. There are also the
usual XHCI set of updates, and other various driver changes and updates.
We also are trying hard to remove the old dbg() macro, but the final
bits of that removal will be coming in through the networking tree
before we can delete it for good.
All of these patches have been in the linux-next tree.

With a filter function you can control more precisely which controls
are added. This is useful in particular for radio device nodes for
combined TV/Radio cards where you want to show just the radio-specific
controls and not controls like brightness.

Record the features values for each rbd image and each of its
snapshots. This is really something that only becomes meaningful
for version 2 images, so this is just putting in place code
that will form common infrastructure.
It may be useful to expand the sysfs entries--and therefore the
information we maintain--for the image and for each snapshot.
But I'm going to hold off doing that until we start making
active use of the feature bits.

Right now the kernel still has one piece of rbd management
duplicated from the rbd command line tool: snapshot creation.
There's nothing special about snapshot creation that makes it
advantageous to do from the kernel, so I'd like to remove the
create_snap sysfs interface. That is,
/sys/bus/rbd/devices/<id>/create_snap
would be removed.
Does anyone rely on the sysfs interface for creating rbd
snapshots? If so, how hard would it be to replace with:
rbd snap create pool/image@snap
Is there any benefit to the sysfs interface that I'm missing?

implements the "snap_create" sysfs interface for rbd images.

New format 2 rbd images are permanently identified by a unique image
id. Each rbd image also has a name, but the name can be changed.
A format 2 rbd image will have an object--whose name is based on the
image name--which maps an image's name to its image id.
Create a new function rbd_dev_image_id() that checks for the
existence of the image id object, and if it's found, records the
image id in the rbd_device structure.
Create a new rbd device attribute (/sys/bus/rbd/<num>/image_id) that
makes this information available.

is now settled down and working properly, so we are ready for 3.7-rc1.
Here's the patchset, it's big, but the large changes are removing a
firmware file and adding a staging tty driver (it depended on the tty
core changes, so it's going through this tree instead of the staging
tree.)

Adds RCU APIs that allow non-idle tasks to enter RCU idle mode and
provides x86 code to make use of them, allowing RCU to treat
user-mode execution as an extended quiescent state when the new
RCU_USER_QS kernel configuration parameter is specified. (Work is
in progress to port this to a few other architectures, but is not
part of this series.)
1. A fix for a latent bug that has been in RCU ever since the addition
of CPU stall warnings. This bug results in false-positive stall
warnings, but thus far only on embedded systems with severely
cut-down userspace configurations.
2. Further reductions in latency spikes for huge systems, along with
additional boot-time adaptation to the actual hardware.
This is a large change, as it moves RCU grace-period initialization
and cleanup, along with quiescent-state forcing, from softirq to a
kthread. However, it appears to be in quite good shape (famous
last words).
3. Updates to documentation and rcutorture, the latter category
including keeping statistics on CPU-hotplug latencies and fixing
some initialization-time races.

controller, and pinmux/control device.

Upstreaming changes by Stephen Warren:
* Wrote DT binding documentation.
* Changed brcm,function to an integer to more directly match the
datasheet, and to match brcm,pins being an integer.
* Implemented pull-up/down pin config.
* Removed read-only DT property and related code. The restriction this
implemented are driven by the board, not the GPIO HW block, so don't
really make sense of a HW block binding, were in general incomplete
(since they could only know about the few pins hard-coded into the
Raspberry Pi B board design and not the uncommitted GPIOS), and are
better represented simply by not writing incorrect data into pin
configuration nodes.
* Don't set GPIO_IN function select in gpio_request_enable() to avoid
glitches; defer this to gpio_set_direction(). Consequently, removed
empty bcm2835_pmx_gpio_request_enable().
* Simplified enabled_irq_map[]; make it explicitly 1 entry per bank.
* Lifted use of enabled_irq_map[] outside the per-interrupt loop in
IRQ handler, thus fixing an issue where the code was indexing into
enabled_irq_map[] by intra-bank GPIO ID, not global GPIO ID.
* Removed locking in IRQ handler, since all other code uses
spin_lock_irqsave() and so guarantees it doesn't run concurrently
with the handler.
* Moved duplicated BUILD_BUG_ON()s into probe(). Also check size of
bcm2835_gpio_pins[].
* Remove range-checking from bcm2835_pctl_get_groups_count() since we've
decided to trust the pinctrl core.
* Made bcm2835_pmx_gpio_disable_free() call bcm2835_pinctrl_fsel_set()
directly for simplicity.
* Fixed body of dt_free_map() to match latest dt_node_to_map().
* Removed GPIO ownership check from bcm2835_pmx_enable() since the pinctrl
core owns doing this.
* Made irq_chip and pinctrl_gpio_range .name == MODULE_NAME so it's more

On some platforms (e.g. MPC5200) a direct 1:1 mapping may cause

unaligned accesses as implemented in the JFFS2 code via memcpy().
By defining "no-unaligned-direct-access", the flash will not be
exposed directly to the MTD users (e.g. JFFS2) any more.

Requested by David Howells so he can merge his key susbsystem work into
my tree with requisite -linus changesets.
The ACPI spec doesn't provide for a way for the bios to pass down
recommended thresholds to the OS on a _per-bank_ basis. This patch adds
a new boot option, which if passed, tells Linux to use CMCI thresholds
set by the bios.
As fail-safe, we initialize threshold to 1 if some banks have not been
initialized by the bios and warn the user.

Add lis3lv02d device tree initialization code/API to take pdata from
device node. Also adds device tree init matching table support to
lis3lv02d_i2c driver. If the driver data is passed from device tree, then
this driver picks up platform data from device node through common/generic
lis3lv02d.c driver.
