When the kernel is running in secure boot mode, we lock down the kernel to prevent userspace from modifying the running kernel image. Whilst this includes prohibiting access to things like /dev/mem, it must also prevent access by means of configuring driver modules in such a way as to cause a device to access or modify the kernel image. To this end, annotate module_param* statements that refer to hardware configuration and indicate for future reference what type of parameter they specify. The parameter parser in the core sees this information and can skip such parameters with an error message if the kernel is locked down. The module initialisation then runs as normal, but just sees whatever the default values for those parameters is. Note that we do still need to do the module initialisation because some drivers have viable defaults set in case parameters aren't specified and some drivers support automatic configuration (e.g. PNP or PCI) in addition to manually coded parameters. This patch annotates drivers in drivers/net/can/. * Bosch CC770 and Intel AN82527 CAN controllers on the ISA or PC-104 bus.
* The I/O port or memory address and the IRQ number must be specified via
* module parameters:
*
* insmod cc770_isa.ko port=0x310,0x380 irq=7,11
*
* for ISA devices using I/O ports or:
*
* insmod cc770_isa.ko mem=0xd1000,0xd1000 irq=7,11
*
* for memory mapped ISA devices.
*
* Indirect access via address and data port is supported as well:
*
* insmod cc770_isa.ko port=0x310,0x380 indirect=1 irq=7,11
*
* Furthermore, the following mode parameter can be defined:
*
* clk: External oscillator clock frequency (default=16000000 [16 MHz])
* cir: CPU interface register (default=0x40 [DSC])
* bcr: Bus configuration register (default=0x40 [CBY])
* cor: Clockout register (default=0x00)
*
* Note: for clk, cir, bcr and cor, the first argument re-defines the
* default for all other devices, e.g.:
*
* insmod cc770_isa.ko mem=0xd1000,0xd1000 irq=7,11 clk=24000000
*
* is equivalent to
*
* insmod cc770_isa.ko mem=0xd1000,0xd1000 irq=7,11 clk=24000000,24000000
