Companion scripts to docs/patches/disable_pair_ip.md that perform the
morphe-patches killPairIpFull + pairIPManifestPatch techniques
directly against a downloaded Grindr APK:
- scripts/patch-grindr-manifest.patch.py — replaces the PairIP
Application wrapper with RealApplication, removes the LicenseActivity
declaration and CHECK_LICENSE permission.
- scripts/patch-grindr-smali.patch.py — bytecode-level neutralisation
of every PairIP SDK method (VMRunner.<clinit>, SignatureCheck,
LicenseClient.{checkLicense, initializeLicenseCheck, processResponse,
startPaywallActivity, performLocalInstallerCheck, checkLicenseInternal},
StartupLauncher.launch).
- docs/patches/smali_patch_grindr.md — documents the workflow, the
known apktool + Kotlin metadata limitation (kotlinx.coroutines
crashes with NPE on startup after the smali round-trip), and points
to the production deployment path (GPlus manager's LSPatch via
arsclib, which preserves Kotlin metadata).
Verified against Grindr 26.13.0:
- Manifest patch installs cleanly; PairIP LicenseActivity never opens.
- Smali patch + manifest patch bypasses PairIP at the bytecode level
but causes a kotlin metadata crash on first launch (apktool limitation).
The manager's LSPatch flow uses arsclib to avoid this.
