Theoretically we only need to change this where the strings might be
non-ascii but it seems safer in the long run to just avoid the "char"
versions entirely.

6b5127fad2 Bug 1874215 - Don't set the Rust max log level r=markh 
Increasing the level to DEBUG is causing slowdowns for the necko code
and it doesn't seem like we're actually getting the Rust records into
the sync logs anyways.

Removed the test_register_app_services_logger.js, which no longer works
with the new system.  I would rather make the test work again, but I
couldn't think of any way to do it since the app-services logging code
now respects the log level set by the larger system and the testing code
seems to set the log level very low.

9a1b3c3610 Bug 1874627 - regenerate expiring test certificates for 2024 r=jschanck,necko-reviewers,extension-reviewers,robwu,jesup 
* the certificates were regenerated using `./mach generate-test-certs`
* the build/pgo/certs/ changes were made using
  `./mach python build/pgo/genpgocert.py`
* the zip files in security/manager/ssl/tests/unit/test_signed_apps/ were
  updated per the directions in the corresponding moz.build file
* security/manager/ssl/tests/unit/test_cert_override_read.js needed manual
  updating

These certificates and other test artifacts will now expire in 2025.

808439ab98 Bug 1864517 - "See tabs from synced devices" should link to the synced tabs category in Firefox View r=fxview-reviewers,markh,kcochrane 
Previously the "See tabs from synced devices" button redirected to `about:firefoxview`.

This patch updates the `openTab` function to accept a category instead of an entryPoint or event.

For previous instances where `openTab` passed an event, `openTab` has been replaced with `openToolbarMouseEvent` to handle event.

We should open an issue in FxA to update the following `entryPoint` from "preferences" to "syncedtabs".

Amending the `getRecentTabs` function eliminates one of the duplicate calls to `getTabClients`. I opted for this approach as opposed
to getting tabs from clients or vice versa because that involved a larger refactor that ended up adding unnecessary noise to the
`getRecentTabs` and `getTabClients` return values. Combined with a patch by @sfoster, we have reduced the number of calls from 9 to 1.

e9ffac0820 Bug 1846781 - Use recalc_frecency for updating origins frecency instead of triggers. r=daisuke 
Until now we updated origins frecency using direct SQL triggers.
While that guaranteed good performance, it also had some downsides:
 * replacing the algorithms is complicate, the current system only works
   with a straight sum of page frecencies. We are planning to experiment with
   different algorithms in the future.
 * it requires using multiple temp tables and DELETE triggers, that is error
   prone for consumers, that may forget to DELETE from the temp tables, and thus
   break data coherency.
 * there's not much atomicity, since the origins update must be triggered apart
   and a crash would lose some of the changes

This patch is changing the behavior to be closer to the recalc_frecency one that
is already used for pages.
When a page is added, visited, or removed, recalc_frecency of its origin is set
to 1. Later frecency of invalidated origins will be recalculated in chunks.
While this is surely less efficient than the existing system, it solves the
problems presented above.
A threshold is recalculated at each chunk, and stored in the moz_meta table.
This patch continues using the old STATS in the moz_meta table, to allow for
easier downgrades. Once a new threshold will be introduced we'll be able to
stop updating those.

The after delete temp table is maintained because there's no more efficient way
to remove orphan origins promptly. Thus, after a removal from moz_places,
consumers MUST still DELETE from the temp table to cleanup orphan origins.
This also introduces a delayed removal of orphan origins when their frecency
becomes 0.

bbc4d2f51e Bug 1752839, improve logins sync by not using the LegacyTracker, r=sgalich,skhamis,sync-reviewers,dimi,joschmidt,markh 
Instead of recording a separate list of changes that could be incorrect, determine the list of modified logins when the sync occurs. Two flags are added to login info objects, the syncStatus that identifies that a login has been synced and a counter which is incremented during a sync and decremented by the same amount when the sync is complete. Deleted logins are flagged with a deleted marker rather than deleted directly.

This behaviour mirrors the form auto fill sync method.

This patch was generated as follows:

Run:
`./mach esmify --imports . --prefix=toolkit/mozapps/extensions/AddonManager`
In the output there are linter/prettifier errors due to unused
XPCOMUtils or separate importESModule calls. These have been fixed
manually and verified with `./mach lint --outgoing`.

The `esmify` script also inserts many unwanted newlines around imports
that are broken on two lines due to length. Due to the number of these,
I fixed them programatically.

1. Create patch from the changes so far.
2. From the patch, delete all lines that consist of "+" (i.e. added blank line).
3. Reset the working dir and apply the revised patch.
4. Verify that the diff between step 1 and 3 looks reasonable.
5. Verify that this patch as a whole looks reasonable.

`git apply` has the `--recount` option to force it to ignore mismatches
