Changing the way content elements store their name information, previously the elements generally stored a name atom and a namespace ID, now they store a pointer to a shared structure containing the name atom, the prefix atom and the namespace ID. This structure is shared between nodes with unique names (ie same name, prefix and ns ID) within a document. Documents now hold a hash table of the names in the document. The changes to mozilla/rdf are not reviewed but they are approved by waterson@netscape.com and the changes to mozilla/layout are reviewed by buster@netscape.com.

Quick fix for bug #36844 .
Since people kept forgetting to wrap SHARED_LIBRARY_LIBS inside MKSHLIB_FORCE_ALL & MKSHLIB_UNFORCE_ALL pairs, we now handle it in rules.mk. Same goes for making $(SHARED_LIBRARY) dependent upon $(SHARED_LIBRARY_LIBS).

Remove --enable-dom, because Mariner is dead (sob).
Rename some MODULE= lines to make the afore-mentioned --enable-debug
technique actually useful. Feel free to recategorize.
Fix libraptorhtml.so link bogosity by disabling shared lib generation for the
sub-archives (libraptor*_s.a), so that we can put bin before lib in the
library path and still get the right effect. We could disable static-lib
generation in most other places and cut the build time down a fair bit, too.

Removing static makefiles as a part of the transition to Autoconf. I have taken great

care to only remove makefiles affailiated with building nglayout. I have also verified that
the build at this point in time succesfully builds with autoconf.
If you must recover one of these makefiles, you can use the static tag STATIC_MAKEFILES.

Removed classic build Makefiles from configure.in
...
Changed --enable-fe to --enable-toolkit which takes a single argument.
Changed MOZ_FE to MOZ_TOOLKIT.
Removed USE_NGLAYOUT and USE_NGLAYOUT_GTK.
Removed FULL_STATIC_BUILD and --enable-min-shared.
Removed checks for gnome and qt.

Changes over the weekend broke the IRIX build by removing the LD_ALL
...
and LD_NONE directives which enable the linker to combine dynamic
and static objects.
This puts them back.
