As detailed in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1546945, there is a memory leak in the remote agent that is triggered by code paths in the remote/test/browser/browser_cdp.js browser-chrome test. It is possible the memory leak is related to holding onto a reference of the XPConnect C++ object nsSocketTransportService, but this has yet to be confirmed. This patch disables the test in question on debug builds, where we run reference counting leakchecks, in order to get the remote agent enabled in default Firefox Nightly builds. The Firefox remote agent is a low-level debugging interface based on the CDP protocol. With it, you can inspect the state and control execution of documents running in web content, instrument Gecko in interesting ways, simulate user interaction for automation purposes, and debug JavaScript execution. This component provides an experimental and partial implementation of a remote devtools interface using the CDP protocol and transport layer.
