The script behind GENERATED_FILES currently opens output files in text mode, which means that they wind up with CRLF line endings on Windows. With switching updater.ini to use LOCALIZED_GENERATED_FILES, this means that it will wind up with different line endings than it currently has. Changing this to use binary format means that we'll have LF line endings everywhere, which shouldn't harm anything on Windows as most of our generated files are source files anyway. This directory contains common Python code. The basic rule is that if Python code is cross-module (that's "module" in the Mozilla meaning - as in "module ownership") and is MPL-compatible, it should go here. What should not go here: * Vendored python modules (use third_party/python instead) * Python that is not MPL-compatible (see other-licenses/) * Python that has good reason to remain close to its "owning" (Mozilla) module (e.g. it is only being consumed from there).
