How are you running AnythingLLM?

Docker (local)

What happened?

I received a JavaScript Error in the main process. Attached is the image of the error. I am able to open the AnythingLLM app. I put in the LM Studio Base URL, but under the LM Studio Model it says "--loading available models---". I am not sure what to do. I have a server running. Any help will be appreciated... I am running it on Windows x64.

Error

Are there known steps to reproduce?

No response

@markydb77 When you installed the application:

  1. Did you install as "only me" during install
  2. Did you modify the default path for the application storage

Duplicate of #2710

Hi Tim,

  1. Yes - Only me
  2. I initially updated to the default path. When I reinstalled, I installed to a different path. I got the same error on both counts.

Regards,

Mark

@markydb77 Thank you.

I am unable to replicate this across 3 different windows PC's - which is why this remains open. The error message does not block the app from being usable however.

Trying to find out what the root cause is as it still eludes us. What Windows versions are you on? Is this a non-admin account on the machine?

Found the root cause, will be patched in next update. It is coming from the UI Automation tool we use for the computer-use feature

Thanks a ton for your help!

I would like to add that for me. It says "--loading available models---". eventhough I get that error, I am unable to run any models. On LM Studio, I do have the server running, and I have the right information inputed.

I too installed it as "Only me" and I did not change the default path.

@Mikeamoe is the LMStudio inference server running? You might need to start it manually if it is not running. Can you screenshot the LMStudio interface on the "Server" tab or whatever it is called in their app.

@timothycarambat Yes, I have the server running. I have tried it with different models and all I get in AnythingLLM is "loading available models". Unless, I am doing something that is wrong, or not doing something. I believe the attached image is what you were asking for.

Thanks. any help would be appreciated.

@Mikeamoe I just downloaded the latest LMStudio. I cannot replicate this issue.

Screenshot 2025-01-06 172302

The only way I can replicate this issue is to go start anythingLLM without LMStudio server running, choose LMStudio, and manually type in http://localhost:1234/v1 and it shows the same as above. However, once I start the LMStudio server and navigate away from the page and go back and reselect LMStudio the provider works.

This also works by starting LMStudio, deleting the URL in AnythingLLM and just retying it or using the "Auto detect" button above the input when it is empty.

Otherwise, I cannot replicate this issue you are encountering.

Thanks. I was able to get it working.

I opened AnythingLLM First, then I opened LM Studio, started a server on the model, and then did Auto-Detect on AnythingLLM, and that made it start working.
