What's the real price of this going to be? My biggest concern is knowing if the revenue model is going to be per version (i.e. v1 is $99, v1.0.1 is free, v2 is a paid upgrade, or LTS security updates are paid per year), or if it's going to be a subscription model.

Obviously, I want the former because that means that new features will come out focused on paying customers rather a ever-changing scattershot of features and changes trying to get "more users" with the hope of some day having them hooked on a subscription.

If it's going to be a subscription, I'd like to know that before I invest time into figuring out how to use it and such.

I was expecting to find pricing info in the product section of the website: https://anythingllm.com/desktop

@timothycarambat commented on GitHub (Sep 8, 2025):

The desktop app is free, it will always be free, and whatever is free now, I promise you will stay free. Monetization comes from collaboration/sharing via the community hub and people who pay us for Enterprise deployments for our multi-user offering (this repo) and Enterprise features like SSO and such.

Monetization for desktop, in any form, will always be opt-in and additive. The core experience will always be free and something like AnythingLLM integrations with existing applications on your machine would be paid. Even then, we intend to offer a way to have a "lite" version of those plugins/extensions
