How are you running AnythingLLM?

AnythingLLM desktop app

What happened?

Hello all,

i'm running the desktop app version v1.8.5-r2.
fresh installation.

I'm not able to find a anythingllm_mcp_servers.json file, anywhere on my drive.
i've reviewed https://docs.anythingllm.com/installation-desktop/storage,
running on windows 10,
there are only 2 directories under my c:\Users, neither of them has an AppData directory, much less a anythingllm_mcp_servers.json file.

please advise.

Are there known steps to reproduce?

No response

@omerbrandis commented on GitHub (Sep 19, 2025):

apparently, the AppData dirctory is hidden by default.
( i can only wonder why the search in directory also failed).

once I checked the correct checkbox for showing hidden items I was able to locate the file in C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\anythingllm-desktop\storage\plugins
