How are you running AnythingLLM?

AnythingLLM desktop app

What happened?

The desktop app won't download any model although there is more than enough space on the hard disk. The downloading symbol at the top right corner displays a downloading process that never ends.
This happens on a macos tahoe 26.3.

Are there known steps to reproduce?

No response

I've had the same problem with this as well with ALLM. I'm on Windows 11.

This may be an issue with the website you are downloading the LLM from. Try again a few hours later and see if it works then. The website may be overloaded or may be undergoing maintenance during night hours for its local time.

Is MacOS Tahoe 26.3 the latest OS? I think this is the version where we had problems with this crashing one of our apps. It crashed the same app on all Macs that upgraded to v26.3. The app starts then crashes every time. You can also go back to MacOS 26.2.

The app doesn't crash. It just doesn't download any model. I tried different providers and none of them is downloaded. I checked both locations:
‘/Library/Application Support/anythingllm-desktop/blob_storage' and
‘/Library/Application Support/anythingllm-desktop/storage/models'
There is no file created.

Your internet connection or locale is likely blocked by Ollama (which is where the model comes from). There is nothing we can address to resolve that as we do not mirror every model :/

@timothycarambat Can a website block the ALLM app itself, like if lots of peoples' ALLM is using too much bandwidth to download models? Hmmm.

ALLM should handle blocking in a better way if possible and tell the user they have been blocked by the website where they are trying to get the model from.
