fa690d4e1c Change encodeU/SLEB128 to pad to certain number of bytes
Previously the 'Padding' argument was the number of padding
bytes to add. However most callers that use 'Padding' know
how many overall bytes they need to write.  With the previous
code this would mean encoding the LEB once to find out how
many bytes it would occupy and then using this to calulate
the 'Padding' value.

cfbb872e5e [XRay][CodeGen] Use PIC-friendly code in XRay sleds and remove synthetic references in .text

d5e52ea44d [XRay][CodeGen] Use PIC-friendly code in XRay sleds; remove synthetic references in .text
Summary:
This change achieves two things:

  - Redefine the Custom Event handling instrumentation points emitted by
    the compiler to not require dynamic relocation of references to the
    __xray_CustomEvent trampoline.

  - Remove the synthetic reference we emit at the end of a function that
    we used to keep auxiliary sections alive in favour of SHF_LINK_ORDER
    associated with the section where the function is defined.

To achieve the custom event handling change, we've had to introduce the
concept of sled versioning -- this will need to be supported by the
runtime to allow us to understand how to turn on/off the new version of
the custom event handling sleds. That change has to land first before we
change the way we write the sleds.

To remove the synthetic reference, we rely on a relatively new linker
feature that preserves the sections that are associated with each other.
This allows us to limit the effects on the .text section of ELF
binaries.

Because we're still using absolute references that are resolved at
runtime for the instrumentation map (and function index) maps, we mark
these sections write-able. In the future we can re-define the entries in
the map to use relative relocations instead that can be statically
determined by the linker. That change will be a bit more invasive so we
defer this for later.

638f2cdc22 [XRay] Custom event logging intrinsic
This patch introduces an LLVM intrinsic and a target opcode for custom event
logging in XRay. Initially, its use case will be to allow users of XRay to log
some type of string ("poor man's printf"). The target opcode compiles to a noop
sled large enough to enable calling through to a runtime-determined relative
function call. At runtime, when X-Ray is enabled, the sled is replaced by
compiler-rt with a trampoline to the logic for creating the custom log entries.

Future patches will implement the compiler-rt parts and clang-side support for
emitting the IR corresponding to this intrinsic.

acf912e5ba [XRay] Create an Index of sleds per function
Summary:
This change adds a new section to the xray-instrumented binary that
stores an index into ranges of the instrumentation map, where sleds
associated with the same function can be accessed as an array. At
runtime, we can get access to this index by function ID offset allowing
for selective patching and unpatching by function ID.

Each entry in this new section (xray_fn_idx) will include two pointers
indicating the start and one past the end of the sleds associated with
the same function. These entries will be 16 bytes long on x86 and
aarch64. On arm, we align to 16 bytes anyway so the runtime has to take
that into consideration.

__{start,stop}_xray_fn_idx will be the symbols that the runtime will
look for when we implement the selective patching/unpatching by function
id APIs. Because XRay synthesizes the function id's in a monotonically
increasing manner at runtime now, implementations (and users) can use
this table to look up the sleds associated with a specific function.
This is useful in implementations that want to do things like:

  - Implement coverage mode for functions by patching everything
    pre-main, then as functions are encountered, the installed handler
    can unpatch the function that's been encountered after recording
    that it's been called.
  - Do "learning mode", so that the implementation can figure out some
    statistical information about function calls by function id for a
    time being, and then determine which functions are worth
    uninstrumenting at runtime.
  - Do "selective instrumentation" where an implementation can
    specifically instrument only certain function id's at runtime
    (either based on some external data, or through some other
    heuristics) instead of patching all the instrumented functions at
    runtime.

8c95619c81 [XRay] Allow logging the first argument of a function call.
Summary:
Functions with the "xray-log-args" attribute will have a special XRay sled kind
emitted, for compiler-rt to copy any call arguments to your logging handler.

For practical and performance reasons, only the first argument is supported, and
only up to 64 bits.

083bd6368a [Assembler] Improve diagnostics for inline assembly.
Summary:
Keep a vector of LocInfos around; one for each call to EmitInlineAsm.
Since each call to EmitInlineAsm creates a new buffer in the inline asm
SourceMgr, we can use the buffer number to map to the right LocInfo.

5896003cc3 [Assembler] Enable nicer diagnostics for inline assembly.
Fixed test.

Summary:
Enables source location in diagnostic messages from the backend.  This
is after parsing, during finalization.  This requires the SourceMgr, the
inline assembly string buffer, and DiagInfo to still be alive after
EmitInlineAsm returns.

This patch creates a single SourceMgr for inline assembly inside the
AsmPrinter.  MCContext gets a pointer to this SourceMgr.  Using one
SourceMgr per call to EmitInlineAsm would make it difficult for
MCContext to figure out in which SourceMgr the SMLoc is located, while a
single SourceMgr can figure it out if it has multiple buffers.

The Str argument to EmitInlineAsm is copied into a buffer and owned by
the inline asm SourceMgr.  This ensures that DiagHandlers won't print
garbage.  (Clang emits a "note: instantiated into assembly here", which
refers to this string.)

The AsmParser gets destroyed before finalization, which means that the
DiagHandlers the AsmParser installs into the SourceMgr will be stale.
Restore the saved DiagHandlers.

Since now we're using just one SourceMgr for multiple inline asm
strings, we need to tell the AsmParser which buffer it needs to parse
currently.  Hand a buffer id -- returned from SourceMgr::
AddNewSourceBuffer -- to the AsmParser.

87ff4c129a [XRay] Merge instrumentation point table emission code into AsmPrinter.
Summary:
No need to have this per-architecture.  While there, unify 32-bit ARM's
behaviour with what changed elsewhere and start function names lowercase
as per the coding standards.  Individual entry emission code goes to the
entry's own class.

Fully tested on amd64, cross-builds on both ARMs and PowerPC.

baf9211007 Fix LLVM's use of DW_OP_bit_piece in DWARF expressions.
LLVM's use of DW_OP_bit_piece is incorrect and a based on a
misunderstanding of the wording in the DWARF specification. The offset
argument of DW_OP_bit_piece refers to the offset into the location
that is on the top of the DWARF expression stack, and not an offset
into the source variable. This has since also been clarified in the
DWARF specification.

This patch fixes all uses of DW_OP_bit_piece to emit the correct
offset and simplifies the DwarfExpression class to semi-automaticaly
emit empty DW_OP_pieces to adjust the offset of the source variable,
thus simplifying the code using DwarfExpression.

While this is an incompatible bugfix, in practice I don't expect this
to be much of a problem since LLVM's old interpretation and the
correct interpretation of DW_OP_bit_piece differ only when there are
gaps in the fragmented locations of the described variables or if
individual fragments are smaller than a byte. LLDB at least won't
interpret locations with gaps in them because is has no way to present
undefined bits in a variable, and there is a high probability that an
old-form expression will be malformed when interpreted correctly,
because the DW_OP_bit_piece offset will be outside of the location at
the top of the stack.

As a nice side-effect, this patch enables us to use a more efficient
encoding for subregisters: In order to express a sub-register at a
non-zero offset we now use a DW_OP_bit_piece instead of shifting the
value into place manually.

This patch also adds missing test coverage for code paths that weren't
exercised before.

56037652a8 Rely on a single DWARF version instead of having two copies
This patch makes AsmPrinter less reliant on DwarfDebug by relying on the DWARF version in the AsmPrinter's MCStreamer's MCContext. This allows us to remove the redundant DWARF version from DwarfDebug. It also lets us change code that used to access the AsmPrinter's DwarfDebug just to get to the DWARF version by changing the DWARF version accessor on AsmPrinter so that it grabs the version from its MCStreamer's MCContext.

9262f00f1a Timer: Track name and description.
The previously used "names" are rather descriptions (they use multiple
words and contain spaces), use short programming language identifier
like strings for the "names" which should be used when exporting to
machine parseable formats.

Also removed a unused TimerGroup from Hexxagon.

ded269b907 CodeGen: Remove MachineFunctionAnalysis => Enable (Machine)ModulePasses
This patch removes the MachineFunctionAnalysis. Instead we keep a
map from IR Function to MachineFunction in the MachineModuleInfo.

This allows the insertion of ModulePasses into the codegen pipeline
without breaking it because the MachineFunctionAnalysis gets dropped
before a module pass.

Peak memory should stay unchanged without a ModulePass in the codegen
pipeline: Previously the MachineFunction was freed at the end of a codegen
function pipeline because the MachineFunctionAnalysis was dropped; With
this patch the MachineFunction is freed after the AsmPrinter has
finished.

08ba2ca688 [TLS] New lower emutls pass, fix linkage bugs.
Previous implementation in http://reviews.llvm.org/D10522
created external references to __emutls_v.* variables.
Such references are inaccurate and cannot be handled by
all linkers, e.g. Android dynamic and gold linkers for aarch64.

Now a new LowerEmuTLS pass to go through all global variables,
and add emutls_v.* and emutls_t.* variables.
These __emutls* variables have the same linkage and
visibility as the associated user defined TLS variable.

Also removed old code that dump __emutls* variables in AsmPrinter.cpp,
and updated TLS unit tests.

d73b41ae22 [WebAssembly] Define WebAssembly-specific relocation codes.
Currently WebAssembly has two kinds of relocations; data addresses and
function addresses. This adds ELF relocations for them, as well as an
MC symbol kind to indicate which type of relocation is needed.

be1cec0cb7 Generalize ownership/passing semantics to allow dsymutil to own abbreviations via unique_ptr
While still allowing CodeGen/AsmPrinter in llvm to own them using a bump
ptr allocator. (might be nice to replace the pointers there with
something that at least automatically calls their dtors, if that's
necessary/useful, rather than having it done explicitly (I think a typed
BumpPtrAllocator already does this, or maybe a unique_ptr with a custom
deleter, etc))

7de9f7a220 Make AsmPrinter::EmitJumpTableInfo virtual
Targets that have non-traditional jump table mechanisms may need to do
something substantially different for jump tables than what
AsmPrinter::EmitJumpTableInfo does. This patch makes that function
virtual so that targets can override it.

dc73dc09f1 Implement target independent TLS compatible with glibc's emutls.c.
The 'common' section TLS is not implemented.
Current C/C++ TLS variables are not placed in common section.
DWARF debug info to get the address of TLS variables is not generated yet.

clang and driver changes in http://reviews.llvm.org/D10524

  Added -femulated-tls flag to select the emulated TLS model,
  which will be used for old targets like Android that do not
  support ELF TLS models.

Added TargetLowering::LowerToTLSEmulatedModel as a target-independent
function to convert a SDNode of TLS variable address to a function call
to __emutls_get_address.

Added into lib/Target/*/*ISelLowering.cpp to call LowerToTLSEmulatedModel
for TLSModel::Emulated. Although all targets supporting ELF TLS models are
enhanced, emulated TLS model has been tested only for Android ELF targets.
Modified AsmPrinter.cpp to print the emutls_v.* and emutls_t.* variables for
emulated TLS variables.
Modified DwarfCompileUnit.cpp to skip some DIE for emulated TLS variabls.

TODO: Add proper DIE for emulated TLS variables.
      Added new unit tests with emulated TLS.

9c5961b7ba Move most user of TargetMachine::getDataLayout to the Module one
Summary:
This change is part of a series of commits dedicated to have a single
DataLayout during compilation by using always the one owned by the
module.

This patch is quite boring overall, except for some uglyness in
ASMPrinter which has a getDataLayout function but has some clients
that use it without a Module (llmv-dsymutil, llvm-dwarfdump), so
some methods are taking a DataLayout as parameter.

3fea1651f6 Rename and improve emitSectionOffset.
Different object formats represent references from dwarf in different ways.

ELF uses a relocation to the referenced point (except for .dwo) and
COFF/MachO use the offset of the referenced point inside its section.

This patch renames emitSectionOffset because

* It doesn't produce an offset on ELF.
* It changes behavior depending on how DWARF is represented, so adding
dwarf to its name is probably a good thing.

The patch also adds an option to force the use of offsets.That avoids
funny looking code like

  if (!UseOffsets)
    Asm->emitSectionOffset....

It was correct, but read as if the ! was inverted.

69dd37580c Make EmitFunctionHeader virtual
This is to fix problems introduced by r232481. For HSAIL,
this function does essentially nothing desirable, and
injects unwanted / incorrect stuff before the function.
The only thing it really needs to do is call EmitFunctionEntryLabel
in this case.

9ec6380779 AsmPrinter: Avoid EmitLabelDifference() in DwarfAccelTable
Mint a new function, `AsmPrinter::emitDwarfStringOffset()`, which takes
a `DwarfStringPoolEntryRef`.  When DWARF is relocatable across sections,
this defers to `emitSectionOffset()` and emits the `MCSymbol`;
otherwise, just emit the offset directly, without using any intermediate
symbols.

`EmitLabelDifference()` is already optimized to emit absolute label
differences cheaply when possible, so there aren't any major memory
savings here (853 MB down to 851 MB, or 0.2%).  However, it prepares for
making the `MCSymbol`s in the `DwarfStringPool` optional.

(I'm looking at `llc` memory usage on `verify-uselistorder.lto.opt.bc`;
see r236629 for details.)

634e01a3e5 Stop resetting SanitizeAddress in TargetMachine::resetTargetOptions. NFC.
Instead of doing that, create a temporary copy of MCTargetOptions and reset its
SanitizeAddress field based on the function's attribute every time an InlineAsm
instruction is emitted in AsmPrinter::EmitInlineAsm. 

This is part of the work to remove TargetMachine::resetTargetOptions (the FIXME
added to TargetMachine.cpp in r236009 explains why this function has to be
removed).

579cebfb15 [AsmPrinter] Make AsmPrinter's OutStreamer member a unique_ptr.
AsmPrinter owns the OutStreamer, so an owning pointer makes sense here. Using a
reference for this is crufty.
