fddea6af8d Fix an assertion in DwarfExpression when emitting fragments in vector registers
When DwarfExpression is emitting a fragment that is located in a
register and that fragment is smaller than the register, and the
register must be composed from sub-registers (are you still with me?)
the last DW_OP_piece operation must not be larger than the size of the
fragment itself, since the last piece of the fragment could be smaller
than the last subregister that is being emitted.

c271bc0481 Renumber testcase metadata nodes after r290153.
This patch renumbers the metadata nodes in debug info testcases after
https://reviews.llvm.org/D26769. This is a separate patch because it
causes so much churn. This was implemented with a python script that
pipes the testcases through llvm-as - | llvm-dis - and then goes
through the original and new output side-by side to insert all
comments at a close-enough location.

7b500b4bdf [IR] Remove the DIExpression field from DIGlobalVariable.
This patch implements PR31013 by introducing a
DIGlobalVariableExpression that holds a pair of DIGlobalVariable and
DIExpression.

Currently, DIGlobalVariables holds a DIExpression. This is not the
best way to model this:

(1) The DIGlobalVariable should describe the source level variable,
not how to get to its location.

(2) It makes it unsafe/hard to update the expressions when we call
    replaceExpression on the DIGLobalVariable.

(3) It makes it impossible to represent a global variable that is in
more than one location (e.g., a variable with multiple
DW_OP_LLVM_fragment-s). We also moved away from attaching the
DIExpression to DILocalVariable for the same reasons.

This reapplies r289902 with additional testcase upgrades and a change
to the Bitcode record for DIGlobalVariable, that makes upgrading the
old format unambiguous also for variables without DIExpressions.

096faa974a Revert "[IR] Remove the DIExpression field from DIGlobalVariable."
This reverts commit 289920 (again).
I forgot to implement a Bitcode upgrade for the case where a DIGlobalVariable
has not DIExpression. Unfortunately it is not possible to safely upgrade
these variables without adding a flag to the bitcode record indicating which
version they are.
My plan of record is to roll the planned follow-up patch that adds a
unit: field to DIGlobalVariable into this patch before recomitting.
This way we only need one Bitcode upgrade for both changes (with a
version flag in the bitcode record to safely distinguish the record
formats).

Sorry for the churn!

460dd60c1a [DIExpression] Introduce a dedicated DW_OP_LLVM_fragment operation
so we can stop using DW_OP_bit_piece with the wrong semantics.

The entire back story can be found here:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20161114/405934.html

The gist is that in LLVM we've been misinterpreting DW_OP_bit_piece's
offset field to mean the offset into the source variable rather than
the offset into the location at the top the DWARF expression stack. In
order to be able to fix this in a subsequent patch, this patch
introduces a dedicated DW_OP_LLVM_fragment operation with the
semantics that we used to apply to DW_OP_bit_piece, which is what we
actually need while inside of LLVM. This patch is complete with a
bitcode upgrade for expressions using the old format. It does not yet
fix the DWARF backend to use DW_OP_bit_piece correctly.

Implementation note: We discussed several options for implementing
this, including reserving a dedicated field in DIExpression for the
fragment size and offset, but using an custom operator at the end of
the expression works just fine and is more efficient because we then
only pay for it when we need it.

c8b398cd6b [ARM] Add ".code 32" to functions in the ARM instruction set
Before, only Thumb functions were marked as ".code 16". These
".code x" directives are effective until the next directive of its
kind is encountered. Therefore, in code with interleaved ARM and
Thumb functions, it was possible to declare a function as ARM and
end up with a Thumb function after assembly. A test has been added.

An existing test has also been fixed to take this change into
account.

a04e9e4a0a [ARM] Generate consistent frame records for Thumb2
There is not an official documented ABI for frame pointers in Thumb2,
but we should try to emit something which is useful.

We use r7 as the frame pointer for Thumb code, which currently means
that if a function needs to save a high register (r8-r11), it will get
pushed to the stack between the frame pointer (r7) and link register
(r14). This means that while a stack unwinder can follow the chain of
frame pointers up the stack, it cannot know the offset to lr, so does
not know which functions correspond to the stack frames.

To fix this, we need to push the callee-saved registers in two batches,
with the first push saving the low registers, fp and lr, and the second
push saving the high registers. This is already implemented, but
previously only used for iOS. This patch turns it on for all Thumb2
targets when frame pointers are required by the ABI, and the frame
pointer is r7 (Windows uses r11, so this isn't a problem there). If
frame pointer elimination is enabled we still emit a single push/pop
even if we need a frame pointer for other reasons, to avoid increasing
code size.

We must also ensure that lr is pushed to the stack when using a frame
pointer, so that we end up with a complete frame record. Situations that
could cause this were rare, because we already push lr in most
situations so that we can return using the pop instruction.

6a5d369249 [SimplifyCFG] Rewrite SinkThenElseCodeToEnd
[Recommitting now an unrelated assertion in SROA is sorted out]

The new version has several advantages:
  1) IMSHO it's more readable and neater
  2) It handles loads and stores properly
  3) It can handle any number of incoming blocks rather than just two. I'll be taking advantage of this in a followup patch.

With this change we can now finally sink load-modify-store idioms such as:

    if (a)
      return *b += 3;
    else
      return *b += 4;

    =>

    %z = load i32, i32* %y
    %.sink = select i1 %a, i32 5, i32 7
    %b = add i32 %z, %.sink
    store i32 %b, i32* %y
    ret i32 %b

When this works for switches it'll be even more powerful.

Round 4. This time we should handle all instructions correctly, and not replace any operands that need to be constant with variables.

This was really hard to determine safely, so the helper function should be put into the Instruction API. I'll do that as a followup.

1083a5297a CodeGen: avoid emitting unnecessary CFI
Remove unnecessary clutter in assembly output. When using SjLj EH, the CFI is
not actually used for anything. Do not emit the CFI needlessly. The minor test
adjustments are interesting. The prologue test was just overzealous matcching.
The interesting case is the LSDA change. It was originally added to ensure that
various compilations did not mangle the name (it explicitly checked the name!).
However, subsequent cleanups made it more reliant on the CFI to find the name.
Parse the generated code flow to generically find the label still.

The DWARF2 specification of DW_AT_bit_offset was written from the perspective of

de7484036b DebugInfo: Remove MDString-based type references
Eliminate DITypeIdentifierMap and make DITypeRef a thin wrapper around
DIType*. It is no longer legal to refer to a DICompositeType by its
'identifier:', and DIBuilder no longer retains all types with an
'identifier:' automatically.

Aside from the bitcode upgrade, this is mainly removing logic to resolve
an MDString-based reference to an actualy DIType. The commits leading
up to this have made the implicit type map in DICompileUnit's
'retainedTypes:' field superfluous.

This does not remove DITypeRef, DIScopeRef, DINodeRef, and
DITypeRefArray, or stop using them in DI-related metadata. Although as
of this commit they aren't serving a useful purpose, there are patchces
under review to reuse them for CodeView support.

4eeaa0da04 [PR27284] Reverse the ownership between DICompileUnit and DISubprogram.
Currently each Function points to a DISubprogram and DISubprogram has a
scope field. For member functions the scope is a DICompositeType. DIScopes
point to the DICompileUnit to facilitate type uniquing.

Distinct DISubprograms (with isDefinition: true) are not part of the type
hierarchy and cannot be uniqued. This change removes the subprograms
list from DICompileUnit and instead adds a pointer to the owning compile
unit to distinct DISubprograms. This would make it easy for ThinLTO to
strip unneeded DISubprograms and their transitively referenced debug info.

Motivation
----------

Materializing DISubprograms is currently the most expensive operation when
doing a ThinLTO build of clang.

We want the DISubprogram to be stored in a separate Bitcode block (or the
same block as the function body) so we can avoid having to expensively
deserialize all DISubprograms together with the global metadata. If a
function has been inlined into another subprogram we need to store a
reference the block containing the inlined subprogram.

39bb84a097 Move the DebugEmissionKind enum from DIBuilder into DICompileUnit.
This mostly cosmetic patch moves the DebugEmissionKind enum from DIBuilder
into DICompileUnit. DIBuilder is not the right place for this enum to live
in — a metadata consumer should not have to include DIBuilder.h.
I also added a Verifier check that checks that the emission kind of a
DICompileUnit is actually legal.

This test doesn't pass with thumbv6, so I suppose what they meant is thumbv7.

5f220beefc DI: Reverse direction of subprogram -> function edge.
Previously, subprograms contained a metadata reference to the function they
described. Because most clients need to get or set a subprogram for a given
function rather than the other way around, this created unneeded inefficiency.

For example, many passes needed to call the function llvm::makeSubprogramMap()
to build a mapping from functions to subprograms, and the IR linker needed to
fix up function references in a way that caused quadratic complexity in the IR
linking phase of LTO.

This change reverses the direction of the edge by storing the subprogram as
function-level metadata and removing DISubprogram's function field.

Since this is an IR change, a bitcode upgrade has been provided.

Fixes PR23367. An upgrade script for textual IR for out-of-tree clients is
attached to the PR.

Summary:
This review is related to another review request http://reviews.llvm.org/D11268, does the same and merely fixes a couple of issues with it.

D11268 is quite old and has merge conflicts against the current trunk.
This request
 - rebases D11268 onto the new trunk;
 - resolves the merge conflicts;
 - fixes the prologue_end tests, which do not pass due to the subprogram definitions not marked as distinct.

a5ae7c1c9f DI: Require subprogram definitions to be distinct
As a follow-up to r246098, require `DISubprogram` definitions
(`isDefinition: true`) to be 'distinct'. Specifically, add an assembler
check, a verifier check, and bitcode upgrading logic to combat testcase
bitrot after the `DIBuilder` change.

While working on the testcases, I realized that
test/Linker/subprogram-linkonce-weak-odr.ll isn't relevant anymore. Its
purpose was to check for a corner case in PR22792 where two subprogram
definitions match exactly and share the same metadata node. The new
verifier check, requiring that subprogram definitions are 'distinct',
precludes that possibility.

I updated almost all the IR with the following script:

    git grep -l -E -e '= !DISubprogram\(.* isDefinition: true' |
    grep -v test/Bitcode |
    xargs sed -i '' -e 's/= \(!DISubprogram(.*, isDefinition: true\)/= distinct \1/'

Likely some variant of would work for out-of-tree testcases.

c61bc48acb DI: Disallow uniquable DICompileUnits
Since r241097, `DIBuilder` has only created distinct `DICompileUnit`s.
The backend is liable to start relying on that (if it hasn't already),
so make uniquable `DICompileUnit`s illegal and automatically upgrade old
bitcode. This is a nice cleanup, since we can remove an unnecessary
`DenseSet` (and the associated uniquing info) from `LLVMContextImpl`.

Almost all the testcases were updated with this script:

    git grep -e '= !DICompileUnit' -l -- test |
    grep -v test/Bitcode |
    xargs sed -i '' -e 's,= !DICompileUnit,= distinct !DICompileUnit,'

I imagine something similar should work for out-of-tree testcases.

bf2040f00c DI: Remove DW_TAG_arg_variable and DW_TAG_auto_variable
Remove the fake `DW_TAG_auto_variable` and `DW_TAG_arg_variable` tags,
using `DW_TAG_variable` in their place Stop exposing the `tag:` field at
all in the assembly format for `DILocalVariable`.

Most of the testcase updates were generated by the following sed script:

find test/ -name "*.ll" -o -name "*.mir" |
    xargs grep -l 'DILocalVariable' |
    xargs sed -i '' \
      -e 's/tag: DW_TAG_arg_variable, //' \
      -e 's/tag: DW_TAG_auto_variable, //'

There were only a handful of tests in `test/Assembly` that I needed to
update by hand.

(Note: a follow-up could change `DILocalVariable::DILocalVariable()` to
set the tag to `DW_TAG_formal_parameter` instead of `DW_TAG_variable`
(as appropriate), instead of having that logic magically in the backend
in `DbgVariable`. I've added a FIXME to that effect.)

dc73dc09f1 Implement target independent TLS compatible with glibc's emutls.c.
The 'common' section TLS is not implemented.
Current C/C++ TLS variables are not placed in common section.
DWARF debug info to get the address of TLS variables is not generated yet.

clang and driver changes in http://reviews.llvm.org/D10524

Added -femulated-tls flag to select the emulated TLS model,
which will be used for old targets like Android that do not
  support ELF TLS models.

Added TargetLowering::LowerToTLSEmulatedModel as a target-independent
function to convert a SDNode of TLS variable address to a function call
to __emutls_get_address.

Added into lib/Target/*/*ISelLowering.cpp to call LowerToTLSEmulatedModel
for TLSModel::Emulated. Although all targets supporting ELF TLS models are
enhanced, emulated TLS model has been tested only for Android ELF targets.
Modified AsmPrinter.cpp to print the emutls_v.* and emutls_t.* variables for
emulated TLS variables.
Modified DwarfCompileUnit.cpp to skip some DIE for emulated TLS variabls.

TODO: Add proper DIE for emulated TLS variables.
Added new unit tests with emulated TLS.

6eb9a62fe0 [DebugInfo] Debug locations for constant SD nodes
Several updates for [DebugInfo] Add debug locations to constant SD nodes (r235989).
Includes:

 *  re-enabling the change (disabled recently);
 *  missing change for FP constants;
 * resetting debug location of constant node if it's used more than at one place
    to prevent emission of wrong locations in case of coalesced constants;
 * a couple of additional tests.

Now all look ups in CSEMap are wrapped by additional method.

Comment in D9084 suggests that debug locations aren't useful for "target constants",
so there might be one more change related to this API (namely, dropping debug
locations for getTarget*Constant methods).
