Sönke Holz 38c162aeea Kernel: Pass OpenFileDescription to vmobject_and_memory_type_for_mmap
This is more useful than passing a reference to the Process, which
can be easily obtained with Process::current(). Only KCOVDevice
previously used this argument.
We will need this new argument in the next commit.

Liav A. 2a4a096e0f Kernel+runc: Make unshare syscalls more fd-oriented
Instead of creating a new resource that has its own ID number and work
with it directly, we can create a file that describes the unshared
resource, execute ioctl calls on it and only enter into it in the end,
essentially creating the resource only during the last call instead
of the previous method of creation of a resource when "attaching" to
that resource.

We can enter a resource for current program execution, after the exec
syscall, or both.
That change allows userspace to create a resource and attach to it only
in the new program, which makes it more comfortable to do cleanups or
track the new process, outside of the created container.

It should be noted that until this commit, we entered a resource without
detaching the old one, essentially leaking the attach counter of a
resource. While this bug didn't have severe effects, it was obvious that
a proper cleanup userspace code later on wouldn't work in that situation
anyway, so this commit changes the way we work, and the terminology of
entering a resource is actually to **replace** it.

These changes essentially open an opportunity to extend runc to be a
container manager rather being launcher of a containerized environment,
which makes it possible to do all sorts of nice cleanups and tracking of
containers' states.

Sönke Holz 0d11e70cfe Kernel/MM: Set the correct memory type for mmap()s
Make the MemoryType used by mmap() configurable by
File::vmobject_and_memory_type_for_mmap overrides (previously called
vmobject_for_mmap).

All mmap()s were previously MemoryType::Normal.

Liav A. 3692af528e Kernel: Move most of VirtualFileSystem code to be in a namespace
There's no point in constructing an object just for the sake of keeping
a state that can be touched by anything in the kernel code.

Let's reduce everything to be in a C++ namespace called with the
previous name "VirtualFileSystem" and keep a smaller textual-footprint
struct called "VirtualFileSystemDetails".

This change also cleans up old "friend class" statements that were no
longer needed, and move methods from the VirtualFileSystem code to more
appropriate places as well.
Please note that the method of locking all filesystems during shutdown
is removed, as in that place there's no meaning to actually locking all
filesystems because of running in kernel mode entirely.

Liav A 23a7ccf607 Kernel+LibCore+LibC: Split the mount syscall into multiple syscalls
This is a preparation before we can create a usable mechanism to use
filesystem-specific mount flags.
To keep some compatibility with userland code, LibC and LibCore mount
functions are kept being usable, but now instead of doing an "atomic"
syscall, they do multiple syscalls to perform the complete procedure of
mounting a filesystem.

The FileBackedFileSystem IntrusiveList in the VFS code is now changed to
be protected by a Mutex, because when we mount a new filesystem, we need
to check if a filesystem is already created for a given source_fd so we
do a scan for that OpenFileDescription in that list. If we fail to find
an already-created filesystem we create a new one and register it in the
list if we successfully mounted it. We use a Mutex because we might need
to initiate disk access during the filesystem creation, which will take
other mutexes in other parts of the kernel, therefore making it not
possible to take a spinlock while doing this.

Daniel Bertalan 2123fdd678 Kernel: Remove FIFO::{attach,detach}(Direction)
These functions would have caused a `-Woverloaded-virtual` warning with
GCC 13, as they shadow `File::{attach,detach}(OpenFileDescription&)`.

Both of these functions had a single call site. This commit inlines
`attach` into its only caller, `FIFO::open_direction`.

Instead of explicitly checking `is_fifo()` in `~OpenFileDescription`
before running the `detach(Direction)` overload, let's just override the
regular `detach(OpenFileDescription&)` for `FIFO` to perform this action
instead.

Andreas Kling d1371d66f7 Kernel: Use non-locking {Nonnull,}RefPtr for OpenFileDescription
This patch switches away from {Nonnull,}LockRefPtr to the non-locking
smart pointers throughout the kernel.

I've looked at the handful of places where these were being persisted
and I don't see any race situations.

Note that the process file descriptor table (Process::m_fds) was already
guarded via MutexProtected.

Andreas Kling 30861daa93 Kernel: Simplify the File memory-mapping API
Before this change, we had File::mmap() which did all the work of
setting up a VMObject, and then creating a Region in the current
process's address space.

This patch simplifies the interface by removing the region part.
Files now only have to return a suitable VMObject from
vmobject_for_mmap(), and then sys$mmap() itself will take care of
actually mapping it into the address space.

This fixes an issue where we'd try to block on I/O (for inode metadata
lookup) while holding the address space spinlock. It also reduces time
spent holding the address space lock.

Andreas Kling cf16b2c8e6 Kernel: Wrap process address spaces in SpinlockProtected
This forces anyone who wants to look into and/or manipulate an address
space to lock it. And this replaces the previous, more flimsy, manual
spinlock use.

Note that pointers *into* the address space are not safe to use after
you unlock the space. We've got many issues like this, and we'll have
to track those down as wlel.

Andreas Kling 728c3fbd14 Kernel: Use RefPtr instead of LockRefPtr for Custody
By protecting all the RefPtr<Custody> objects that may be accessed from
multiple threads at the same time (with spinlocks), we remove the need
for using LockRefPtr<Custody> (which is basically a RefPtr with a
built-in spinlock.)

Andreas Kling 11eee67b85 Kernel: Make self-contained locking smart pointers their own classes
Until now, our kernel has reimplemented a number of AK classes to
provide automatic internal locking:

- RefPtr
- NonnullRefPtr
- WeakPtr
- Weakable

This patch renames the Kernel classes so that they can coexist with
the original AK classes:

- RefPtr => LockRefPtr
- NonnullRefPtr => NonnullLockRefPtr
- WeakPtr => LockWeakPtr
- Weakable => LockWeakable

The goal here is to eventually get rid of the Lock* classes in favor of
using external locking.

Andreas Kling 248832f438 Kernel: Convert OpenFileDescriptor from mutex to spinlock
A mutex is useful when we need to be able to block the current thread
until it's available. This is overkill for OpenFileDescriptor.

First off, this patch wraps the main state member variables inside a
SpinlockProtected<State> to enforce synchronized access. This also
avoids "free locking" where figuring out which variables are guarded
by which lock is left as an unamusing exercise for the reader.

Then we remove mutex locking from the functions that simply call through
to the underlying File or Inode, since those fields never change anyway,
and the target objects perform their own synchronization.

not unlikely that some bugs crept in.

Nevertheless, it does pass basic functionality testing, and it's just
real nice to finally see the same pattern in all contexts. :^)

Ben Wiederhake c05c5a7ff4 Kernel: Clarify ambiguous {File,Description}::absolute_path
Found due to smelly code in InodeFile::absolute_path.

In particular, this replaces the following misleading methods:

File::absolute_path
This method *never* returns an actual path, and if called on an
InodeFile (which is impossible), it would VERIFY_NOT_REACHED().

OpenFileDescription::try_serialize_absolute_path
OpenFileDescription::absolute_path
These methods do not guarantee to return an actual path (just like the
other method), and just like Custody::absolute_path they do not
guarantee accuracy. In particular, just renaming the method made a
TOCTOU bug obvious.

The new method signatures use KResultOr, just like
try_serialize_absolute_path() already did.

in the Kernel.
