This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:

  • #1429: feat: support pasting images from the clipboard - Original feature request for clipboard image pasting support
  • #2878: Pasting images doesn't work on WSL2 Wezterm - Similar issue with image pasting not working
  • #906: Feature request: Paste to attach image - Request for paste functionality to add images from clipboard
  • #4004: On macOS, copying an image file from Finder results in pasting a generic image icon, instead of the image data - Related clipboard image handling issue

Your specific issue about in-memory images not being pasteable after the TUI upgrade appears to be a regression of previously working functionality, which may be distinct from the other issues that were requesting the feature from scratch.

Feel free to ignore if none of these address your specific case of the regression after TUI upgrade.

@thdxr Maybe you forgot to fix it, please fix it, It causes many problems for me while UI development and errors which can't be copied as text, so only images from clipboard work there.

pasting it in vscode then to opencode takes a lot time, also it doesn't paste directly from there, I have to copy the full path of file to opencode then it takes reference

Same issue on Windows 11.

Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Terminal: Windows Terminal / Git Bash
  • OpenCode version: Latest

Reproduction:

  1. Take a screenshot with Win + Shift + S (Snipping Tool) - image goes to clipboard
  2. Try to paste with Ctrl+V in OpenCode
  3. Nothing happens

Workaround:
Saving the screenshot to a file first and then referencing the file path works, but this defeats the purpose of quick clipboard pasting.

This is a significant UX issue as screenshot sharing is a common workflow when discussing UI bugs or visual issues with the AI.

+1 for prioritizing this fix.
