Phase 1: Foundation Validation (Week 1)

Objective

Validate OpenCode AI as a stable foundation for building CPA-specific features before committing to full development.

Validation Tasks

Technical Validation

  • OpenCode Stability Testing

    • Test with large PDF documents (tax returns, financial statements)
    • Evaluate performance with Excel spreadsheets and CSV files
    • Assess memory usage with multiple document processing sessions
    • Test error handling with malformed/corrupted documents

  • AI Provider Performance

    • Test with Anthropic Claude models for financial document analysis
    • Evaluate OpenAI GPT models for tax calculation accuracy
    • Test Google Gemini integration for compliance checking
    • Assess provider switching capabilities and reliability

  • TUI Interface Assessment

    • Evaluate professional appearance for client-facing work
    • Test keyboard shortcuts and workflow efficiency
    • Assess theme system for professional branding
    • Evaluate multi-session management capabilities

CPA-Specific Testing

  • Document Processing Evaluation

    • Test current ReadTool with tax documents (PDFs converted to text)
    • Evaluate EditTool with financial spreadsheet data
    • Test GrepTool for finding specific tax information
    • Assess BatchTool for processing multiple client documents

  • Workflow Assessment

    • Design typical CPA workflows (tax preparation, audit procedures)
    • Test multi-step document processing scenarios
    • Evaluate session management for client confidentiality
    • Assess integration potential with accounting software

Success Criteria

  • Performance: <2 second response time for document operations
  • Reliability: <0.1% error rate in document processing
  • Stability: No crashes during 4-hour continuous use
  • Professional UI: Interface suitable for client-facing work
  • Provider Stability: Consistent AI model performance across sessions

Risk Assessment
