Description

Tried to use opencode but it just blanked screen. The issue seemed to be because of bad config folder, since when CLI updated it started throwing

Directory "commands" in /home/azemzale/.opencode is not valid. Rename the directory to "command" or remove it. This is a common typo.

I have not used opencode in a while so that might also be part of the issue. When I remove said folder it all starts to work again.

I didn't find any similar issues for Linux specifically, or that they have a reason found for them.

OpenCode version

1.0.164

Steps to reproduce

  1. mkdir $OPENCODE_CFG_DIR/commands
  2. Run opencode desktop
  3. See blank screen

Operating System

This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:

  • #5672: Blank Screen when open OpenCode on Windows
  • #5643: macOS desktop app: just a blank window
  • #5613: Empty screen on launch

These issues appear to have the same symptom (blank/empty screen on launch across different platforms). While your issue specifically identifies a config directory problem as the root cause, it may be worth checking if those other issues also involve config-related problems or if there's a common underlying issue affecting multiple platforms.

@zemzale In the latest, you should see an error screen for this case, can you confirm?

Yeah, shows the error message now.

it's a bit cut off, but you can still easily understand it.
