Feature Request

Description

It would be helpful to always see the current working directory (cwd) displayed somewhere in the TUI interface (e.g., in the header, status bar, or a dedicated area).

Use Case

When working with multiple projects or in a monorepo structure, it's easy to lose track of which directory OpenCode is currently operating in. Having the cwd permanently visible would:

  1. Reduce confusion - Immediately know which project/folder you're working in
  2. Prevent mistakes - Avoid running commands or making changes in the wrong directory
  3. Improve UX - No need to manually run pwd to check the current location

Proposed Solution

Display the current working directory in one of the following locations:

  • In the header/title bar area
  • In a status bar at the bottom
  • As a subtle indicator somewhere in the UI

Current Workaround

Currently, the only way to see the cwd is to ask the agent to run pwd, which interrupts the workflow.

Additional Context

This is especially useful when:

  • Working with meta-repos or workspaces containing multiple sub-projects
  • Switching between different project directories
  • Running OpenCode from different terminal locations

This feature request might be related to the previous request in #9881 which also involved making the current directory/worktree more visible in the TUI. While that issue focused on filtering session lists by directory, your request addresses the broader need for always displaying the cwd in the interface. These could potentially be addressed together as part of a larger TUI improvement.

this was previously in the footer, but now is in the sidebar which can be opened with ctrl+x b

initially footer was removed from session view here #7365

Remove footer overlay when sidebar is hidden to improve screen real estate

then restored on dev in #12245
next reverted in #12836

Dax intentionally removed the footer it seems, reverting commit that restored it

hopefully we can get an option to enable the footer again or a different dynamic way to show some live indicators like the proposal in the issue linked by the bot

hi,
still wondering, if and why that is not possible.
i'd like to permanently see the actual folder i'm working on, it's nearly impossible to keep the overview with multiple sessions without seeing in which folder/project you are working right now (where the opencode session was started from). how are you guys handling that right now? am i missing something? to me that is an essential feature...

i'm on latest opencode version, but i can't tell you on which version - it disappeared when i updated to 1.2.xxx - i also want to see permanently the opencode version in the UI if possible, was working before, but disappeared :(
