Description

Grok Code Fast 1 model is no longer appeared in OpenCode Zen.

As far as I know that GLM-4.7 and Minimax-2.1 will not be free any more. But I haven't heard any announcement relating to Grok model. Technically, only the Big Pickle are left. I don't mind not giving out free models, but I believe announcements relating to it, or like how user will not be able to select should be informed.

Plugins

None

OpenCode version

1.1.34

Steps to reproduce

No response

Operating System

macOS 26.1

Terminal

Ghostty

This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:

  • #10177: Why have the minimax and GLM models disappeared in the latest version?
  • #10243: The default models are no longer displayed.
  • #10250: glm4.7 and minimax2.1 missing

These issues discuss the disappearance of previously available free models (GLM-4.7, Minimax-2.1, and Grok Code Fast 1) from OpenCode Zen. You may find helpful information or workarounds in those discussions.

Feel free to ignore if none of these address your specific case.

Yeah, I find it an interesting model, sometimes it does the work, sometimes not 😆 But it is the best free option left. Can't complain.

I have to say - if it would be added to Zen. I don't mind paying for it.

ouch yes, hurts to not have grok fast, it was much quicker. I am using Big Pickle atm, but its slow and more error prone. Anyone know if its a glitch? or are we to say goodbye to Grok free for now?

seems like it - If anyone wonders why, this is due to the fact that xAi have stopped their free period.

the desktop version doesnt allow to add api keys yet to any model - so we are left with zen and nano - if your using the desktop app - its also in beta and has been updating (their pushing updates) every 12 hours it seems - so maybe they will add that soon - so a user can actually utilize their API access that they already have with other models...

In the meantime, for everyone that is wondering how to still have the best version of Grok Code Fast 1 on Opencode - you need to go to x.ai and create yourself an API token there. It works extremely good.

I was surprise with the change when I opened OpenCode today. I agree with @tien-croft in terms of more announcements. More is better! Although, if @Muhns13G was correct about xAI stopping the free period, why is GLM is now not free anymore? Has something change on their side as well? I guess we won't know!

While I don't mind the change while people try out OpenCode's UX, more choice on the free tier account can give users better look-and-feel UX.

Unfortunately, I still could not found much standard benchmark information about Zen's Big Pickle performance apart from other comments about it.
