Description

I open Opencode in my ~/.opencode, and want to edit some tools using it, using Opus 4.5 from my Max sub. The error message that appears is:

"This credential is only authorized for use with Claude Code and cannot be used for other API requests."

I know they're blocking access based on the presence of "you are opencode" in the prompt, but I don't have anything like that and can work on other repos just fine.

This used to work recently (I developed several tools with Opus), so something must have changed.

Plugins

N/A

OpenCode version

1.1.39

Steps to reproduce

  1. $ cd ~/.opencode
  2. $ opencode
  3. Run this prompt:
Look at the Opencode config directory here, and at the docs at https://opencode.ai/docs/permissions/

How do I make sure that the agent can access external files (outside of the workspace it's currently in), but requiring me to approve every time it wants to?

Screenshot and/or share link

No response

Operating System

Mac OS 25

Terminal

Ghostty

This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:

  • #10982: This credential is only authorized for use with Claude Code and cannot be used for other API requests (same error message)
  • #10937: Anthropic Subscription Key not working anymore (same error, started around Jan 28 6:00 AM UTC)
  • #7410: Broken Claude Max (Claude Max stopped working, similar issue)

Feel free to ignore if none of these address your specific case.
