openai.responses provider has a built in tool for web search, this works really well, it should be the same the chatgpt app uses

I'd rather suggest to use SearXNG - this is something you can fully control yourself.
Here is the example of how it is wrapped as MCP for Jan.AI - https://cookbook.jan.ai/articles/jan-v1/jan-v1-sear-xng-guide/
