A common workflow I have is to have the model draw up a plan, then ask questions to clarify the plan details. When I start typing and answering those questions the text area grows vertically and covers the questions I was trying to answer.

Workaround is to share it but I also can't do that once I've typed a bunch of stuff.

Thinking the messages area needs to shrink when the textarea grows, and probably cap the textarea at a few rows, it seems to grow indefinitely.
