Description

I've tried to upgrade my opencode to the latest version and it says it's successful but it appears it's not.

I've also tried restarting my terminal and computer to no avail.

Plugins

@franlol/opencode-md-table-formatter, @mohak34/opencode-notifier

OpenCode version

1.1.53

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install opencode via brew (I'm on 1.1.53)
  2. Run opencode upgrade
  3. See it say "Upgrade complete"
  4. Open opencode and notice the version in the lower righthand corner is still 1.1.53
  5. Exit opencode
  6. Run opencode --v and see it prints 1.1.53
  7. Restart your terminal/computer and repeat the steps
  8. profit?

This issue appears to be a duplicate of existing issues with the same root cause:

  • #8422: opencode upgrade reports success every time - The upgrade command shows "Upgrade complete" but the version never actually changes
  • #5375: opencode upgrade doesnt move to newest version - Similar issue where the upgrade fails silently

All three issues describe the same behavior: the upgrade command reports success but the version check afterward shows no change has occurred. Please check these existing issues to see if they contain any workarounds or additional context.
