## Msty Claw vs Msty Studio
Msty Claw is **not** Msty Studio. They are separate products today.
Over time, the products will become more closely integrated, but right now you should treat Msty Claw as its own app with its own setup and settings.
## What Msty Claw can do
- Run broader agent workflows with local or cloud models
- Connect chat channels like Discord, Telegram, and WhatsApp
- Run bots in a managed workspace or an existing project folder
- Run bots on host runtime or container runtime
- Use tools via MCP servers and custom skills
For product updates, examples, and the latest release information, check [msty.ai/claw](https://msty.ai/claw){target="_blank"}.
## Workspace and container options
When you create a bot, Msty Claw lets you choose:
- **Managed workspace**: an isolated workspace folder created for that bot
- **Project folder**: a specific folder you choose on disk
- **Host runtime**: runs directly on your machine
- **Container runtime**: runs in Docker or Podman with optional network access

During onboarding (or later in **Settings > Providers**), connect a provider and pick a model.
### Connect at least one channel
In **Settings > Channels**, add Discord, Telegram, or WhatsApp and connect it.
### Create your first bot
Choose workspace mode (managed or project folder), runtime (host or container), and access controls.

## Notes
- Msty Claw is currently in open beta and free for personal use only.
- Container runtime requires Docker or Podman.
- If container network is blocked, web access is also blocked.
- Bots require a connected channel and chat target.

description: Configure MCP tools, skills, security, and runtime options in Msty Claw

navTruncate: false

---

Msty Claw supports configuration for tools, skills, security controls, and containerized bot runtime.
## MCP tools
Open **Settings > Tools** to configure MCP servers.
You can:
- Add a server with a `name`, `command`, and `arguments`
- Connect/disconnect servers
- Edit or remove saved servers
- Optionally add a Jina API key for web search
## Skills
Msty Claw auto-discovers skills from:
- Personal skills: `~/.mstyclaw/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md`
- Workspace skills: `<workspace>/.mstyclaw/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md`
Use skills to provide reusable workflows and domain-specific instructions.
## Security and permissions
Open **Settings > Security**.
You can configure:
- **Sender groups**: who can message each bot
- **Allowed folders**: where bots can read/write
- **Blocked patterns**: sensitive files/folders that stay off-limits (for example `.env`, `.ssh`, and credential paths)
During tool calls, Msty Claw can prompt for **Allow**, **Always**, or **Deny** decisions on actions like command execution or file edits.
## Workspace and runtime
Per bot, you can configure:
- **Workspace mode**: managed workspace or project folder
- **Runtime**: host or container (Docker/Podman)
- **Terminal commands**: on/off
- **Container network**: blocked/allowed
- **Web access**: on/off (container web access depends on network being allowed)
## Ask Msty Claw to help configure things
You can ask Msty Claw to help set these up for you, for example:
- Install and connect an MCP server
- Create or install skills
- Propose safe permission settings
- Set up a bot runtime for host or container use
This can reduce manual setup work when you prefer guided configuration.

## Workspace and container options
When you create a bot, Msty Claw lets you choose:
- **Managed workspace**: an isolated workspace folder created for that bot
- **Project folder**: a specific folder you choose on disk
- **Host runtime**: runs directly on your machine
- **Container runtime**: runs in Docker or Podman with optional network access

## Notes
- Msty Claw is currently in open beta and free for personal use only.
- Container runtime requires Docker or Podman.
- If container network is blocked, web access is also blocked.
- Bots require a connected channel and chat target.

## Integration tips
- Start with one channel and one bot until your workflow is stable.
- Keep bot tokens and keys private.
- Test in a private channel/chat before inviting others.

Msty Claw supports configuration for tools, skills, security controls, and containerized bot runtime.
## MCP tools
Open **Settings > Tools** to configure MCP servers.
You can:
- Add a server with a `name`, `command`, and `arguments`
- Connect/disconnect servers
- Edit or remove saved servers
- Optionally add a Jina API key for web search
## Skills
Msty Claw auto-discovers skills from:
- Personal skills: `~/.mstyclaw/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md`
- Workspace skills: `<workspace>/.mstyclaw/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md`
Use skills to provide reusable workflows and domain-specific instructions.
## Security and permissions
Open **Settings > Security**.
You can configure:
- **Sender groups**: who can message each bot
- **Allowed folders**: where bots can read/write
- **Blocked patterns**: sensitive files/folders that stay off-limits (for example `.env`, `.ssh`, and credential paths)
During tool calls, Msty Claw can prompt for **Allow**, **Always**, or **Deny** decisions on actions like command execution or file edits.
## Workspace and runtime
Per bot, you can configure:
- **Workspace mode**: managed workspace or project folder
- **Runtime**: host or container (Docker/Podman)
- **Terminal commands**: on/off
- **Container network**: blocked/allowed
- **Web access**: on/off (container web access depends on network being allowed)
## Ask Msty Claw to help configure things
You can ask Msty Claw to help set these up for you, for example:
- Install and connect an MCP server
- Create or install skills
- Propose safe permission settings
- Set up a bot runtime for host or container use
This can reduce manual setup work when you prefer guided configuration.
