# Tools

You may call one or more functions to assist with the user query.

You are provided with function signatures within <tools></tools> XML tags:
<tools>
{"type": "function", "function": {"name": "search_issues", "description": "Search the project's issue tracker. Returns at most `limit` issues ordered by last update.", "parameters": {"type": "object", "properties": {"query": {"type": "string", "description": "Free-text query; supports label:NAME and state:open|closed filters."}, "limit": {"type": "integer", "minimum": 1, "maximum": 50, "default": 10}}, "required": ["query"]}}}
{"type": "function", "function": {"name": "read_file", "description": "Read a file from the repository at the default branch.", "parameters": {"type": "object", "properties": {"path": {"type": "string", "description": "Repository-relative path."}, "start_line": {"type": "integer", "minimum": 1}, "end_line": {"type": "integer", "minimum": 1}}, "required": ["path"]}}}

For each function call, return a json object with function name and arguments within <tool_call></tool_call> XML tags:

Issue #1182 already tracks it. The closed #1104 ("progress bar wraps around") hints at a 16-bit counter somewhere in the export path. Let me look at the exporter.

Found it. `BatchState::rows_written` is a `std::uint16_t` (line 10). After 65,535 rows it wraps to zero, and the loop stops at line 21 when the wrapped counter happens to equal `table.row_limit()`, which defaults to 65,535 for unlimited exports in this code path. The fix is to make both counters `std::uint64_t` (or `std::size_t`) and to treat "no limit" explicitly instead of comparing against a sentinel. I will run the exporter tests to confirm the current behavior before proposing the change.
