1. Is this request related to a challenge you're experiencing? Tell me about your story.

I would like the knowledge base retrieval system to return inline references in the format of [1], [2], etc., within the main text.
At the end of the main text, a corresponding reference list should be appended, formatted as:
[1] Knowledge Repository Name_Reference file name.pdf
[2] Knowledge Base Name_Reference file name.pdf

Figure legends:

2. Additional context or comments

version: Professional

3. Can you help us with this feature?

  • I am interested in contributing to this feature.

Hi, @Adoubf. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the Dify team manage their backlog and am marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • You requested an enhancement for the knowledge base retrieval system to support inline citation references (e.g., [1], [2]) within the main text.
  • The feature would include a formatted reference list at the end linking to source documents to improve citation clarity in the Professional version.
  • There has been a follow-up inquiry about any progress or enhancements on this feature.
  • No development contributions or updates have been provided so far.

Next Steps:

  • Please let me know if this issue is still relevant to the latest version of Dify by commenting here to keep the discussion open.
  • If I do not hear back within 15 days, this issue will be automatically closed.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution!

@crazywoola The user confirms that the inline citation references feature is still not available in the new version and needs attention. Could you please assist with this enhancement request?
