1. Is this request related to a challenge you're experiencing? Tell me about your story.

On the Studio overview page that lists the apps, for each app tile, it shows the last updated date and time as "Edited at MM/DD/YYYY h:mm". But it does not tell me if AM or PM, and it does not tell me the time zone. In a setup where you have a global team collaborating in a workspace, it is important to be clear about the time zone.

It would be optimal if the times displayed throughout the application were automatically shown in the client's time zone and locale (which could be obtained from the browser), and it was transparent about the time zone.
This applies also e.g. to the "auto-saved" message on the workflow/chatflow canvas, but maybe even more places.

2. Additional context or comments

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback — it's very helpful and absolutely valid, especially in the context of a global team.

Since time zone display and localization preferences can vary quite a bit across regions and use cases, I wonder if you have come across any applications or patterns that handle this particularly well?

We’d love to learn from best practices — whether it’s how time zones are displayed, how time format (12h/24h) is chosen, or how much control the user is given to override their default locale. Any suggestions or tools you’ve seen that do this right would be greatly appreciated.

@crazywoola I've looked around and found that many collaboration tools, e.g. Outlook, Teams, Confluence etc. handle this aspect very well because all time values are shown in my local time zone (which, obviously, is determined from my operating system's time zone information which is propagated through the browser to the web applications). I actually didn't see the time zone being displayed in those applications, probably due to the fact that always having the user's current time zone being used eliminates the need for displaying the time zone explicitly together with the time value. Hope this helps.

Hi, @nervice. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the Dify team manage their backlog and am marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • You suggested improving the app's time display by adding AM/PM indicators and clear time zone information.
  • You proposed automatic localization to the client's time zone for better global clarity.
  • The maintainer requested examples of best practices and user control over locale settings.
  • You referenced tools like Outlook and Teams that implicitly handle time zones via localization without explicit labels.
  • The discussion highlights a preference for implicit time zone handling rather than explicit display.

Next Steps:

  • Please let me know if this issue is still relevant with the latest version of Dify by commenting here.
  • If I don’t hear back within 15 days, I will automatically close this issue.

Thanks for your understanding and contribution!

Yes, this issue is still relevant because if the displayed times are not reflecting the user's time zone while not indicating the actual time zone either, this can get very confusing and even misleading for the user.

@crazywoola The user has confirmed that the issue about time display and time zone clarity is still relevant, emphasizing the confusion caused when times don't reflect the user's time zone or indicate the actual time zone. Could you please assist with this?
