Hi @Youmo1! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the dify team.

Ollama does not currently expose the /api/rerank endpoint required by Dify for reranker model integration, which is why adding reranker models fails with a 404 error—even though LLM and embedding models work fine. This is a known limitation and has been reported by other users as well. Unless Ollama adds support for reranker models and the necessary API route, reranker integration in Dify will not work with Ollama as the backend [source].

If you need reranker functionality, you’ll need to use a backend that implements the /rerank endpoint (for example, some OpenAI-compatible providers or vLLM). There are no workarounds for Ollama at this time. Make sure to check the provider’s documentation for reranker support before integrating.

Notably, Ollama may not natively support reranker models in the near term—we recommend deploying and running the qwen3-reranker model via llama.cpp, or using other tools such as TEI and xinference VLLM to host reranker large models.
