Self-defined tools in Dify v1.8.0 do not natively support boolean input types. This means you can't directly select or input a boolean value (true/false) in the UI for tool variables. The recommended workaround is to use a select dropdown with string values like "True" and "False" to simulate boolean input, though this can make the UI less clean. Native boolean input support is planned for future versions, but it's not available in 1.8.0 yet reference.

Dify v1.8.0 doesn't natively support boolean variable types in self-defined tools, which can cause issues when integrating with MCP Server or OpenAPI endpoints that expect strict boolean values. The usual workaround is to use a select/dropdown or string mapping for "True"/"False", but this isn't ideal for API compatibility.

The good news is that recent updates (after August 2025) have added native boolean support: you can now define boolean variables, and the UI will render them as radio buttons for true/false, with backend validation and type safety details details. This makes Dify much more flexible for all variable types and should resolve compatibility issues with MCP Server and OpenAPI.

If you're staying on v1.8.0, you'll need to keep using workarounds for boolean types. For full flexibility and native boolean support, consider upgrading to a newer version when possible.
