@dosubot[bot] commented on GitHub (Oct 29, 2025):

This is a known issue with the Weaviate Python client v4: it performs a version check by making HTTP requests to pypi.org every time it initializes, which happens during document embedding in Dify. This behavior is not caused by Dify itself, but by the Weaviate client library. The temporary Docker entrypoint workaround for installing the client does not directly cause these requests, but if the client is reinstalled or reinitialized frequently, it can make the problem worse.

The recommended workaround is to patch your Docker container and comment out the version check code in /app/api/.venv/lib/python3.12/site-packages/weaviate/connect/connection.py (inside the container). Specifically, comment out the block that fetches the latest version from PyPI to prevent these requests example and details.

A long-term fix will require an update to the Weaviate client library that removes or disables this check. Until then, manual patching is the most effective solution.
