Summary

This PR fixes a critical bug in the OpenTelemetry (OTLP) configuration where the default metrics endpoint was incorrectly pointing to the traces endpoint instead of the metrics endpoint.

Issue Fixed:

  • When OTLP_METRIC_ENDPOINT is not configured, the system was defaulting to OTLP_BASE_ENDPOINT + "/v1/traces" instead of the correct OTLP_BASE_ENDPOINT + "/v1/metrics"

Root Cause:
The bug was in the emit method where the fallback logic for the metrics endpoint was using the wrong path suffix.

Solution:
Changed the default metrics endpoint from /v1/traces to /v1/metrics to ensure proper telemetry data routing.

Impact:

  • Fixes metrics collection when custom metric endpoint is not specified
  • Ensures proper separation of traces and metrics data
  • Improves observability and monitoring capabilities
