1. Is this request related to a challenge you're experiencing? Tell me about your story.

While Dify already supports OpenAPI integrations, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) offers a potential enhancement to our current data connection strategies. I've noticed that connecting to multiple data sources still requires individual configuration, and MCP could provide a more standardized approach to context retrieval and system integration.

Hi, @youssefsiam38. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the Dify team manage their backlog. I'm marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • You requested support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enhance data connection strategies.
  • User crazywoola suggested a different implementation approach for this feature in version 1.0, which you and others reacted positively to.
  • User niteshldd expressed interest in the release timeline for version 1.0, indicating anticipation for this feature.

Next Steps:

  • Please let me know if this issue is still relevant to the latest version of the Dify repository by commenting here to keep the discussion open.
  • If there is no further input, this issue will be automatically closed in 15 days.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution!

I’m also eagerly waiting for this. We need to develop the feature quickly. While it’s uncertain whether MCP will become mainstream, a substantial ecosystem has already been established.

The plugin module has been developed, and now we just need to expand the tools.

These are third-party plugins, but they are only used as a Client to call the MCP tool. To make Dify serve as an MCP Server, official development is still needed (or they should provide an SDK for us to create extension plugins)

Writing JSON Schema manually is too exhausting. I hope the official team provides a better configuration method.
