Thomas Huth 32f4baba03 Don't check for NULL pointer before calling free() 
free() can deal with NULL pointers, so there is no need to check for
NULL before calling it.

Thomas Huth 1cd5bac0e7 Replace strncat() with Str_Copy() 
gemdos.c uses strncat() as a replacement for the non-portable strlcpy()
in a couple of places. While the usage looks correct here, strncat() is
generally quite a bad function (since the length parameter does not
directly specify the size of the destination buffer, and you always have
to remember to take the additional NUL character into account in your
calculations), so we should rather completely ban it from the Hatari
sources. Let's use our own Str_Copy() function instead, that way the code
is much easier to understand.

Eero Tamminen 85161c8d35 Improve VDI mode support, mainly for Falcon 
* Fix EmuTOS crashes with larger (8-bit) Falcon VDI modes. Largest
  screen size supported by EmuTOS is smaller than largest Hatari VDI
  screen size, so phystop needs to be lowered enough from RAM end also
  for EmuTOS => Use same logic for TT & Falcon.

* As VDI mode works now to some extent with TOS v4, allow its use,
  but warn about it on every boot.

* Use non-standard memtop / phystop gap only when VDI mode is enabled.

* Drop TOS v3 memory detection warning, as VDI mode is just one of
  the reasons why it might get skipped at boot.

* Update documentation.

Thomas Huth 9594e78b4e Add a FreeBSD and OpenBSD compilation test on Github 
Using the vmactions on Github, it is also possible to test
compilation on various BSD flavors on Github. The .cirrus.yml
file is now not required anymore, so we can remove it.

Thomas Huth e7b9b00e05 Make sure that parameter of tolower() / toupper() cannot be negative 
"char" can be signed, which could cause trouble with some implementations
of tolower() / toupper() (e.g. the ones from Cygwin cause a compiler
warning here).

Real WD1772 ignores very short values, but threshold is not known yet,
so for now we ignore flux < 100 ns (which is likely to be noise, dirty floppy or write splice)

Thomas Huth fed2c543d6 Fix parameter type mismatch in vdi2inf() 
The "mode" parameter of vdi2inf() is not of type "res_value_t", but
it's rather used for normal integer values. The Visual Studio compiler
complains about this, so fix the parameter type to silence the warnings
here.

Thomas Huth 50c83a8b1a Replace \e with \x1b 
The Visual Studio compiler does not know '\e' and emits a warning for
these strings. Use the alternative \x1b instead which is more portable.
