"tools/threads: the live test listens to the sound" committed tools/threads/__pycache__/live_disc.cpython-312.pyc along with the checker that had imported it: a build product, picked up by mistake. It is removed, __pycache__ and *.pyc are ignored, and live.sh tells Python not to write them, so that running the test leaves the tree as it found it.
