The projects

Four re-implementations, one canon.

Each project studies the original interface and rebuilds it behaviorally. No Microsoft binaries, firmware, or DRM content are involved.

An authentic cross-platform re-creation of Zune 4.8 Desktop: Metro pivots, Quickplay & Smart DJ, Mixview, a real BASS audio engine (gapless, crossfade, ReplayGain, FFT), libVLC video, and MusicBrainz / Fanart.tv / LRCLIB enrichment.

The Zune HD handheld, reborn for modern Android: the 480×272 device canvas, crossbar pivots, kinetic lists, tri-state hearts, Media3 / ExoPlayer playback, a MediaStore-backed library, and all 62 official Zune HD apps re-implemented (3D titles included).

A Zune HD application emulator that runs .zcp / .ccgame XNA packages — the shared core behind the Android client’s marketplace heritage.

Community cloud services that replace the dead Zune web services: OpenIddict identity, device registry & settings sync, signed updates, a MusicBrainz catalog and artwork CDN, podcast/radio directory, QuickMix recommendations, and social & Zune Card.

What got built

Fidelity you can hear and see.

The design language was famously content-first: black canvases, typography as navigation, zero chrome, zero rounded corners. Ported faithfully — and audited in continuous integration.

A real audio engine

BASS with gapless chaining, equal-power crossfade, ReplayGain leveling and an FFT spectrum visualizer.

Smart DJ & tri-state hearts

Hearts are prioritised in Smart DJ shuffles; broken hearts are always excluded — the Zune differentiator.

Pivot navigation

Panoramic pivot strip, parallax 3D slide, and the fan-loved tap-the-cut-off-header to go back.

The HD device canvas

An authentic 480×272 surface with crossbar pivots, kinetic scrolling and text-first navigation.

XNA package emulation

Loads Zune HD .zcp / .ccgame apps against a clean-room XNA 3.1 shim.

Metadata enrichment

MusicBrainz, Fanart.tv, Last.fm and LRCLIB aggregation with per-track match review.
