523f8ec82c server-mode: Add option to enable/disable test case explicitly
Add a `CMake_TEST_SERVER_MODE` option that can be set in testing builds
to enable/disable server mode tests explicitly. This will allow testing
in combination with `CMake_TEST_EXTERNAL_CMAKE` or for server mode to be
built on systems that have a python version that cannot run the test.

6b97a5efc6 server-mode: Add option to enable/disable the mode explicitly
Provide a way for scripts building CMake to enable server mode
explicitly and assume the risk of a build failure if it is not
supported. This will allow such scripts to ensure that server
mode is available if the build succeeds. It also allows scripts
to explicitly disable server mode even if it would be supported.

86578eccf2 Simplify CMake per-source license notices
Per-source copyright/license notice headers that spell out copyright holder
names and years are hard to maintain and often out-of-date or plain wrong.
Precise contributor information is already maintained automatically by the
version control tool. Ultimately it is the receiver of a file who is
responsible for determining its licensing status, and per-source notices are
merely a convenience. Therefore it is simpler and more accurate for
each source to have a generic notice of the license name and references to
more detailed information on copyright holders and full license terms.

Our `Copyright.txt` file now contains a list of Contributors whose names
appeared source-level copyright notices. It also references version control
history for more precise information. Therefore we no longer need to spell
out the list of Contributors in each source file notice.

Replace CMake per-source copyright/license notice headers with a short
description of the license and links to `Copyright.txt` and online information
available from "https://cmake.org/licensing". The online URL also handles
cases of modules being copied out of our source into other projects, so we
can drop our notices about replacing links with full license text.

Run the `Utilities/Scripts/filter-notices.bash` script to perform the majority
of the replacements mechanically. Manually fix up shebang lines and trailing
newlines in a few files. Manually update the notices in a few files that the
script does not handle.

b13d3e0d0b cmake-server: Bare-bones server implementation
Adds a bare-bones cmake-server implementation and makes it possible
to start that with "cmake -E server".

Communication happens via stdin/stdout for now.

Protocol is based on Json objects surrounded by magic strings
("[== CMake Server ==[" and "]== CMake Server ==]"), which simplifies
Json parsing significantly.

This patch also defines an interface used to implement different
versions of the protocol spoken by the server, but does not include
any protocol implementaiton.

190a5fdffd Automatically use OpenSSL by default on Linux and FreeBSD if available
Since https is almost ubiquitous nowadays we should support it by
default whenever possible. When building our own curl, we already
automatically enable SSL/TLS support on Windows and OS X by using the
OS-native APIs. On UNIX platforms we need to use OpenSSL but have not
done so by default before, leading to possible user confusion when https
transfers fail later. Fix this by searching for OpenSSL quietly and
enabling use of it automatically if it is found.

Do this only on Linux and FreeBSD for now because on other UNIX
platforms (e.g. AIX, HP-UX, SunOS) it seems too easy to find an
OpenSSL that is not compatible with the target compiler.

ffa6f057b4 Avoid using C11 to build CMake if _Thread_local support is broken
Support for C11's _Thread_local was introduced in GCC in the 4.9 series,
even though we make the C11 compiler flags available in CMake with GCC
>= 4.6.

FreeBSD's runetype.h uses _Thread_local, which causes CMake's own build
to fail when using GCC < 4.9 and -std=gnu11:

/usr/include/runetype.h:92:22: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'const'
   extern _Thread_local const _RuneLocale *_ThreadRuneLocale;

Add a test for _Thread_local support and only build CMake itself with
C11 support if it works.

a576844263 FindJsonCpp: Drop new module due to upstream jsoncpp providing package
Since jsoncpp 0.7.0 (2014-11-20) the upstream may provide a CMake
package configuration file such that find_package(jsoncpp) will find a
jsoncppConfig.cmake file. In order to avoid conflicting with this
(especially on case-insensitive filesystems), and since we always prefer
projects to provide package config files (that they maintain), it is
better to not provide FindJsonCpp publicly.

Move FindJsonCpp into a private source directory that is not installed
so that we can still use it for building CMake itself.

Practically, the use of some unicode characters may still

c9a5f34bd7 Cleanup use of CMake version in install destinations
Factor the CMAKE_DATA_DIR, CMAKE_DOC_DIR, and CMAKE_MAN_DIR selection
out of CMakeLists.txt and into a Source/CMakeInstallDestinations.cmake
script. Load the script from the original location of the code.

Cache the destination values as empty strings so we know if the user
sets them explicitly. If not, then compute defaults based on the
platform and full CMake version string. By not caching the versioned
defaults, we can change them in a single build tree as the version
changes.

Remove duplication of the install destination defaults from the
bootstrap script. Cache empty defaults there too. Parse from the CMake
code the default values to report in the help output. Keep the CMake
code in a structured format to make this reliable.

 https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/general/Reference/InfoPlistKeyReference/Articles/CocoaKeys.html

modify the Info.plist we create for cmake-gui to add/set fields

 CFBundleShortVersionString = The release-version-number string
LSApplicationCategoryType = UTI that categorizes the app for the App Store
NSHumanReadableCopyright = Specifies the copyright notice

and drop fields

 CFBundleGetInfoString
 CFBundleLongVersionString
 LSRequiresCarbon

Also prepare to set

 CFBundleVersion            = The build-version-number string

but leave it commented out as TBD (To Be Determined) for now.

The version fields must have form <major>.<minor>.<patch> with integer
components. While at it, rename the bundle to end in ".<patch>" instead
of "-<patch>" so that it is consistent with the version number and does
not look like a packaging increment suffix.

1763c31c3b Set policy CMP0025 to NEW while building CMake itself
CMake is aware of the policy's NEW behavior and the AppleClang compiler
id. Set the policy to NEW explicitly to avoid the warning and get the
NEW behavior.

Also teach the RunCMake test infrastructure to build tests with
-DCMAKE_POLICY_DEFAULT_CMP0025=NEW to avoid the policy warning
in test output that must match specific regular expressions.

df62f64db7 Clean up install rules of CMake itself (#14371)
Ensure CMAKE_DATA_DIR, CMAKE_DOC_DIR, and CMAKE_MAN_DIR are always
relative paths in CMake code, and set defaults accordingly. Use the
install() command instead of install_files() and install_targets().
This is more modern and also avoids stripping of the first character
from user-specified destinations.

While at it, fix the default destinations reported in the bootstrap
help.

The warnings are enabled for now only when using GCC 4.2 or later.
It may be possible later to also enable them when building CMake
with clang. Don't duplicate the compiler flags if already set.

9db3116226 Remove CMake-language block-end command arguments
Ancient versions of CMake required else(), endif(), and similar block
termination commands to have arguments matching the command starting the
block. This is no longer the preferred style.

Run the following shell code:

for c in else endif endforeach endfunction endmacro endwhile; do
    echo 's/\b'"$c"'\(\s*\)(.\+)/'"$c"'\1()/'
done >convert.sed &&
git ls-files -z -- bootstrap '*.cmake' '*.cmake.in' '*CMakeLists.txt' |
egrep -z -v '^(Utilities/cm|Source/kwsys/)' |
egrep -z -v 'Tests/CMakeTests/While-Endwhile-' |

77543bde41 Convert CMake-language commands to lower case
Ancient CMake versions required upper-case commands. Later command
names became case-insensitive. Now the preferred style is lower-case.

Run the following shell code:

grep -v "cmake version" |
while read c; do
    echo 's/\b'"$(echo $c | tr '[:lower:]' '[:upper:]')"'\(\s*\)(/'"$c"'\1(/g'
done >convert.sed &&
git ls-files -z -- bootstrap '*.cmake' '*.cmake.in' '*CMakeLists.txt' |

d960de2f54 Require CMake 2.8.2 or higher to build CMake
Update the requirement specified in the top-level CMakeLists.txt file.
Drop the special-case minimum required version of 2.8.0 because the new
minimum subsumes it.

Revert commit 6c611c6b (libarchive: Restore CMake 2.6.3 as minimum
version, 2012-01-05) since our requirement now subsumes libarchive's.

0c7029c642 Refactor CMake version handling
Move the CMake version number components out of "CMakeLists.txt" into

date, thus replacing KWSys DateStamp for CMake. Teach the bootstrap
