At least on my system that saved ~25% of the compile time (2:01 to 1:33)
so it appears that this is indeed something that help compile
performance.
Also does some house cleaning by using the new PCH command of CMake if
it is available which reduces our dependencies.
The only thing a CFILE contained was a version field which isn't used
anymore so that could be removed which basically meant that CFILE was
just an indirection to a Cfile_block which I then just renamed to CFILE.
The CFILE type is an opaque handle now since the contents are not
relevant to a user of Cfile.
This converts all usages of bmpman textures to OpenGL texture arrays.
That means that all frames of an animation are stored in a single OpenGL
texture object and can be accessed at the same time in a single draw
call. This should significantly reduce the overhead of drawing lots of
particles since all particles of a single animation can be drawn with a
single draw call.
This fixes#1169.
Cotire (the CMake module we use for handling precompiled headers) can
auotmaically generate a prefix header by examining the includes of the
project. However, if a system include changes, the prefix header may
change as well which triggers a complete project rebuild. To avoid this
and to add the ability to customize the prefix header, I added a
manually maintaned header which will be used by all platforms and which
will only change if that file is manually changed.
