melonDS for Android supports Wi-Fi connectivity. The official Nintendo WFC service has been shutdown since 2014, but there are alternative services that can be used with melonDS. One such service is Kearu WFC, which is the recommended one.
Here you can find information on how to setup your melonDS installation to access this service:
Setup with built-in BIOS and firmware
To start, load a game that has Wi-Fi connectivity and launch the WFC settings. Inside, you will find this screen:
Click on the blue button that says "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings". You will see this screen:
Click on the "Ready" button of "Connection 1", and then scroll to the bottom. You will see this:
Then, set the "Auto-obtain DSN" option to "No", and set the following information:
- Primary DNS:
178.62.43.212
- Secondary DNS:
178.62.43.212
Then, click on "Test Connection" and wait for the test to finish. It should run successfully. After this, you should be able to access the Wi-Fi services inside the game.
Setup with a custom BIOS and firmware
To start, load a game that has Wi-Fi connectivity and launch the WFC settings. Inside, you will find this screen:
Click on the orange button that says "Options". You will see this screen:
Click on the "Erase Nintendo WFC Configuration" button and then confirm the operation.
After you have erased your WFC configuration, you will see a black screen. Reset the emulation (either by re-launching the game or choosing the "Reset" option in the pause menu). After you boot the game again, enter the WFC settings screen, just like in the first step. Inside the WFC settings screen, click the blue button that says "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings".
Then, click on one of the connections, and you will find this screen:
Click on the button that says "Search for an Access Point", and wait a bit. Then, you should see this screen:
Click on "melonAP", confirm the operation, and you should see a popup indicating that the connection was successful. Then, you should be back to the root WFC settings screen as shown in the first step. Once again, click on the blue button that says "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings". This time, it will look like this:
Click on the "Ready" button of your connection, and then scroll to the bottom.
