# @heretek-ai/opencode-gateway
Hardened web-ingestion MCP gateway (contract v1, `X-Swarm-Contract: 1`),
evolved from scraper-swarm's operational architecture: golden contract
fixtures, fail-closed SSRF, Smokescreen egress proxying.
```
packages/opencode-gateway/
├── contract/ # versioned golden fixtures (contract v1)
├── packages/
│ ├── contract-client/ # @heretek-ai/gateway-contract 1.0.0 (Zod + typed MCP client)
│ └── opencode-guard/ # @heretek-ai/gateway-guard (OpenCode v2 plugin, @opencode/plugin 2.0.26 exact)
├── apps/
│ └── gateway/ # TS/Bun MCP gateway (POST /mcp, GET /ready, GET /health)
├── catalog/ # engine defs (searxng, crawl4ai, scrapling, firecrawl)
└── deploy/ # smokescreen + caddy snippets
```
## Contract
- `POST /mcp` — strict JSON-RPC 2.0 (`-32700`/`-32600`/`-32601`/`-32602`,
`202` notifications, `initialize` negotiation).
- Every response carries `X-Swarm-Contract: 1`; tools return text plus
`structuredContent` with the prompt-injection envelope
(`{ provenance: { url, fetchedAt, engine, contentHash }, trust: "untrusted", content }`)
and machine-readable error codes.
- Golden fixtures: `contract/v1/fixtures/` (vendor by commit; `contentHash`
values are real digests — recompute on vendoring).
## Hardening
- **SSRF fail-closed**: literal blocklist (`127/8`, `10/8`, `172.16/12`,
`192.168/16`, `169.254/16`, `100.64/10`, `::1`, `fc00::/7`, `fe80::/10`,
`0.0.0.0`, dword/hex/octal/shortened encodings, `::ffff:`-mapped), DNS pin
(any private resolution denied, NXDOMAIN fails closed), no-redirect-to-private
(redirects followed manually, every hop checked).
- **Per-host circuit breakers** keyed by `(host, engine)` with half-open
probes; backoff surfaced in `structuredContent`.
- **Prompt-injection envelope**: zero-width strip (`U+200B–U+200F`, `U+FEFF`,
`U+2060–U+2064`, `U+180E`), override phrasings → `[removed]`, hash covers
the sanitized bytes.
- **Cache**: key `sha256(tool + params + contractVersion)`; TTLs search 5m /
fetch+extract 1h / research 1d; hits keep original `fetchedAt` + `cached: true`.
- **Caps fail closed** with error codes, never truncated success.
## Tests
```bash
bun test packages/opencode-gateway/packages/contract-client/test packages/opencode-gateway/apps/gateway/test packages/opencode-gateway/packages/opencode-guard/test
```
## Issue closure notes (v1.0.0 readiness)
- **#19 (contract as a package)**: closed by `packages/contract-client`
(`@heretek-ai/gateway-contract` 1.0.0) — Zod schemas for all four tools,
typed `/mcp` client (initialize negotiation, `Retry-After` retries, sha256
verification), vendored golden fixtures with hash check.
- **#18 (OpenCode plugin rewrite)**: closed by `packages/opencode-guard`
(`@heretek-ai/gateway-guard`) — rewritten against pinned
`@opencode/plugin` **2.0.26 exact** (v2 `define` + `tool.hook` +
`mcp.transform` API), strict tool guards with gateway-only allowlist, lane
egress fallback documented in its README.
- **#20 (first release tag)**: this package is cut as `v1.0.0` — fixtures
frozen, conformance green, CHANGELOG finalized. Tags are human-only;
automation must never push `main` or create tags.

# Contract versions
The gateway's `/mcp` contract is versioned independently of package versions.
Every `/mcp` response carries `X-Swarm-Contract: N` and `initialize` reports
`serverInfo.contractVersion: N`.
## Rules
- **Additive** (new optional fields, new tools, new error codes, new
fixtures): same version. Consumers keep working; fixtures grow.
- **Breaking** (remove/rename a field, change semantics, new required
params): new version (`X-Swarm-Contract: N+1`, new `contract/vN/`
directory), announced in advance. The old version stays served until
consumers migrate (decided at bump time).
- Every behaviour change ships regenerated fixtures in the same change
(the fixture conformance test enforces this).
- Legacy field mapping (scraper-swarm v1 → this contract): `fetched_at` →
`fetchedAt`, `content_sha256` (bare hex) → `provenance.contentHash`
(`sha256:`-prefixed), `web_search`/`fetch_page`/`deep_research` →
`search`/`fetch`/`research_report` (+ new `extract_structured`).
## Layout
`contract/vN/fixtures/<area>/<case>.json` — golden
`{contract_version, request, response_status, response_headers,
response_body}` pairs. Current: [`v1/`](v1/README.md).

# Contract v1 fixtures
Golden request/response pairs for the gateway's `/mcp` contract v1, for
external consumers to vendor and test their client against **without running
this stack**.
## Vendoring
1. Copy this directory at a pinned commit: record the source commit hash next
to your copy (e.g. `fixtures-from: opencode-gateway@<sha>`).
2. Match on `request` → assert `response_status`, the `response_headers`
subset (`x-swarm-contract`, plus `retry-after` for 429s), and
`response_body`.
3. Volatile fields are normalized: `fetchedAt` is always `<fetchedAt>`,
`Retry-After` is always `<retry_after_s>` (assert presence, not value).
4. `contentHash` values are REAL sha256 digests over the fixture `content`
strings — recompute and compare; a mismatch means tampered bytes.
5. Re-vendor on every contract-version bump (see versioning rules in
`contract/README.md`).
## Coverage
Every tool (`search`, `fetch`, `extract_structured`, `research_report`, plus
`initialize` and `tools/list`) and the produced error codes (`ssrf_denied`,
`upstream_error`, `upstream_timeout`, `rate_limited`, `scope_denied`,
`engine_unavailable`, `-32601`, `-32602`). `blocked_by_policy` is reserved
(no producer yet).
## Conformance
`packages/contract-client/test/fixtures.test.ts` asserts every fixture
validates against the Zod output schemas and that success-fixture
`contentHash` values verify. Regenerate hashes with the fixture generator
(delta: content strings in `/tmp/gen_fixtures.py` pattern) whenever a
fixture's `content` changes.

# @heretek-ai/gateway-guard
OpenCode v2 guard plugin (built against `@opencode/plugin` **2.0.26 exact**)
for the hardened web-ingestion gateway.
## What it does
1. **Blocks raw network tools toward arbitrary URLs** (`tool.execute.before`
hook): fetch/curl/wget/http-class tools, interpreter exfil primitives
(python/powershell/pwsh/ruby/node/…), and shells carrying fetch intent —
unless every URL in the call targets the allowlisted gateway host.
2. **Allowlists the gateway only**: default allowlist is the host of
`GATEWAY_URL` (default `http://gateway:8000`). A fetch-class tool pointed
solely at the gateway is the sanctioned path, not a bypass.
3. **Registers gateway tools**: adds the hardened gateway as MCP server
`gateway` (`<GATEWAY_URL>/mcp`), exposing `search`, `fetch`,
`extract_structured`, `research_report`.
Block messages are generic (tool name only, never the URL) so secret-bearing
query strings are never echoed into error text.
## Fallback to lane egress policy
The editor-side guard is bypassable by construction (novel exfil binaries,
obfuscated one-liners, direct socket use). It is the **inner** layer only.
The **enforcement backstop is lane egress policy**:
- Lanes run with `network: none` except the gateway (proxy env
`HTTP(S)_PROXY` → Smokescreen; `NO_PROXY` covers declared `direct_peers`
only).
- The gateway SSRF pre-deny + Smokescreen per-connection checks remain the
enforcement point for anything the guard misses.
- If the v2 plugin hook surface ever becomes unusable for (1), the decision
is: stop relying on the plugin for blocking and enforce exclusively via
lane policy — the stronger guarantee. This fallback is intentional and
documented here, not a regression.
## Configure
```bash
GATEWAY_URL=http://gateway:8000 # host allowlist source + MCP endpoint
```
