96054e12cc Bug 1324661 part 1. When recreating style contexts for elements in stylo, use the right frame (not the primary frame!) for tables. r=bholley,emilio 
For a table, the primary frame is the table wrapper anonymous box.  That
anonymous box inherits style from its _child_ table frame, which is the frame that
has the actual style for the element.  So we want to use the stylo-computed
style for the table frame, and then compute an updated style for the table
wrapper too, because some things (like absolute positioning) are done for the
table wrapper anonymous box, not the table frame.

eaa14d29dc Bug 1339797 - Fix select-all events fired by touch incorrectly hide the carets. r=mtseng 
sHideCaretsForMouseInput is default to true on all platforms. When clicking
"SELECT ALL" on Fennec toolbar in <input>, AccessibleCaretManager will
receive SELECTALL_REASON with MOZ_SOURCE_TOUCH.

We should hide the carets only if the select-all reason is fired by
keyboard, not by touch.

4be7d40139 Bug 1302071 - Part 5: Bucket PresContext invalidations by transaction ID, and only deliver them when the associated composite has completed. r=tnikkel 
This patch does a few things:
* Buckets invalidations by transaction ID, and sends MozAfterPaints events for them when the associated composite completes.
* Creates a separate EventualDidPaint timer for each transaction ID we have invalidations for rather than just using one.
* Removes NotifyDidPaintForSubtree(PAINT_LAYERS), as it was only necessary for the existing bucketing mechanism.

We added this so that MozAfterPaint events would be delivered to hidden documents as part of bug 539356, but I don't remember what needed it.
It doesn't appear to be necessary for any tests any more, so let's just get rid of it

b0cf27878d Bug 1333951 - Unbreak dumping of style contexts. r=bzbarsky 
Prior to this patch, dumping of style contexts in the layout
debugger would only dump the subtree associated with the root
frame, which just covers the viewport, canvas, and associated
scrollbars.

I think this has been broken since bug 236921 (2004) and
bug 378693 (2007) properly disconnected the root element from the
styles for the viewport and canvas.

This patch just manually dumps the root frame and the root
element's frame, since the style set no longer maintains a list
of all of the style context roots.

In non-e10s, all tabs of a window would share one nsRootPresContext. When
switching tabs, the tab switch paint would trigger a call to
nsRootPresContext::ComputePluginGeometryUpdates, which would call
SetEmptyWidgetConfiguration on all registered nsPluginFrames, notably also
those inside the tab that was hidden.

With e10s, every tab has its own nsRootPresContext, and paints in one tab do
not trigger calls to nsRootPresContext::ComputePluginGeometryUpdates on the
root pres contexts of other tabs. So when painting the new tab, the registered
plugin frames in the old tab were not notified that they were now hidden.
This patch now does that in TabChild::MakeHidden.

   to update the animation rule and retrieve a ServoAnimationRule

2. Add GetServoAnimationRule, which calls Animation::ComposeStyle and updates

3. There is no eRestyle_{CSSAnimations|CSSTransitions}, so we use
   eRestyle_Self and eRestyle_Subtree for stylo.

3ee9d5690d Bug 1320484 part 1: Improve documentation for debug-only function FrameWantsToBeInAnonymousItem(), & change its arg from nsIAtom* to nsIFrame*. r=mats 
This patch doesn't affect behavior at all -- it just refactors the
sanity-checking function "FrameWantsToBeInAnonymousItem()", so that the next
patch in this series can give it a new special case that checks a state bit on
the container frame.

This patch renames "parent" to "container" in this function's variable-names,
for clarity, because when this function returns true, the flex/grid container
is actually NOT expected to be the parent of aFrame.  Rather, it's expected to
be the grandparent, and the anonymous flex/grid item would be the parent.  So,
"aContainerFrame"/"containerType" is a bit more accurate (representing the
flex/grid container for aFrame).

Also worth mentioning: this patch makes FrameWantsToBeInAnonymousItem() perform
its own local GetType() call, instead of accepting an already-queried GetType()
result from the caller (as it previously did).  Technically this could cause a
slight perf hit, but it doesn't really matter since this is in "#ifdef DEBUG"
sanity-checking code anyway.  We could keep the nsIAtom* as an additional arg
to avoid this new call, but it seems better to fall on the side of simplicity &
just look up GetType() independently, rather than complicating the function
signature with an extra arg.

The setup is quite different to Servo-land, so add a comment about the different
setup.

Also, check viewport rules when flushing stylesheets. I believe that the
previous behavior is plain wrong, though I haven't taken the time to come up
with a test case.

In any case, it doesn't hurt any of both back-ends.

97d13f46a3 Bug 1303241 part 2 - Make GetVisitedDependentColor use style structs directly. r=dbaron 
I think there are three advantages of this change:
1. removes some dependencies from layout / painting code to pre-computed
   value stuff in the style system;
2. makes it easier to audit usage of specific fields in style structs
   (which is probably a side effect of the first one);
3. potentially improves performance since it doesn't go through the
   unnecessary general logic in ExtractComputedValue.

Also, combined with the part before, we get a unified list for visited-
dependent properties so that we can ensure the assertion here and the
style difference calc code are consistent.

2207c01808 Bug 1322945 - Change skip_root to unstyled_children_only and use StyleNewChildren in more places. r=heycam 
I noticed that our current behavior in ContentRangeInserted is incorrect. Unlike
ContentInserted (where this code lived originally), ContentRangeInserted takes a
start and end element. I'm not sure if we ever take that path for new content that
needs style, but it seemed sketchy. And generally, it seems nice to just always
style new content the same way (though we still need to style NAC by the subtree
root, since it hasn't been attached to the parent yet).

For situations where there is indeed only one unstyled child, the traversal
overhead should be neglible, since we special-case the single-element in
parallel.rs to avoid calling into rayon.

Being more explicit about what we want here also makes us more robust against
the other handful of callpaths that can take us into
nsCSSFrameConstructor::{ContentRangeInserted,ContentAppended}. Currently we
can call StyleNewSubtree on an already-styled element via RecreateFramesForContent,
which triggers an assertion in the servo traversal.

Note that at the callsites in nsCSSFrameConstructor.cpp, we have to also check
the frame type (since the frame state bit is in a range of bits whose meaning
differs depending on frame type).  The first change in this patch is the

This is the bulk of the changes.
 - DisplayItemScrollClip is removed. Instead, we will have 1) ActiveScrolledRoot
   and 2) DisplayItemClipChain.
 - ActiveScrolledRoot points to a scroll frame and allows traversing up the
   scroll frame chain.
 - DisplayItemClipChain is a linked list of clips, each clip being associated
   with the ActiveScrolledRoot that moves this clip.
 - Each display item has an ActiveScrolledRoot and a clip chain.
 - nsDisplayItem::GetClip returns the item of the clip chain that scrolls with
   the item's ASR. The separation between "regular clip" and "scroll clips"
   mostly goes away.
 - Tracking clips in the display list builder's clip state happens very
   similarly to how regular clips used to be tracked - there's a clip chain for
   content descendants and a clip chain for containing block descendants. These
   clip chains are intersected to create the combined clip chain.
 - There are strict rules for the ASR of a container item: A container item's
   ASR should be the innermost ASR which the item has finite clipped bounds with
   respect to.
 - At some point in the future, ASRs and AGRs should be reunified, but I haven't
   done that yet, because I needed to limit the scope of the change.

4174a3a87e Bug 1304598 Part 3 - Rename nsPresShell.h/cpp to PresShell.h/cpp, and move exported header to mozilla/ subdir. r=dholbert 
The class PresShell doesn't have ns-prefix, so it's better to drop ns-prefix
in the file names to avoid confusion.

067250e70a Bug 1337248: remove bogus assertion in presence of explicit change hints. r=bholley 
When any explicit change hint appears to trigger, for example, a repaint,  this
assertion is no longer true, and we should indeed avoid recreating the style
context unnecessarily for that element.

daf2b57f94 Bug 1316764 - Update animations on layers whenever the frame generation is not equal; r=hiro 
This fixes a problem where we fail to update animations on layers when an
EffectSet is destroyed. In this case when we call
RestyleManager::GetAnimationGenerationForFrame in
ElementRestyler::AddLayerChangesForAnimation(), it will return zero but the
animation generation on the layer will be set to some positive non-zero value.

If we compare the two generation numbers using < we will think the layer is
up-to-date. Using != fixes this. We only used < while we had independent
generation numbers of animations and transitions but that was fixed in bug
1229280.

55e3c801ba Bug 1271549 - Remove details and summary preference. r=bz 
Bug 1259889 Part 2 [1] cannot be reverted cleanly, so I manually undo those
changes in this patch. That is, remove the ability for html.css to
invalidate dynamically since it was added specifically for details element.

Although reftest-stylo.list explicit mentions "DO NOT EDIT!", but I still
remove details pref from the file, since it doesn't harm to edit it anyway.

5ae81e4455 Bug 1313989 - Remove MutexAutoUnlock in nsThread::GetIdleEvent. r=froydnj,mattwoodrow 
Rewrite VsyncRefreshDriverTimer::GetTimerRate to always use the cached
value of the vsync rate in VsyncChild to avoid processing events on
the main thread.

Since VsyncChild::GetTimerRate is called in VsyncRefreshDriverTimer's
constructor, that cached value is bound to be set soon. This should
make the period of time we need to guess in
VsyncRefreshDriverTimer::GetTimerRate very short.

eac76d9772 Bug 1310845 - Remove support for mozapp iframes; r=fabrice,jryans,baku,mcmanus 
This patch removes support for mozapp iframes, leaving support for
mozbrowser iframes intact.  Some of the code has been rewritten in order
to phrase things in terms of mozbrowser only, as opposed to mozbrowser
or app.  In some places, code that was only useful with apps has been
completely removed, so that the APIs consumed can also be removed.  In
some places where the notion of appId was bleeding out of this API, now
we use NO_APP_ID.  Other notions of appId which were restricted to this
API have been removed.
