# Policy Packs Example
This example demonstrates how to use PraisonAI policy packs for managing tool permissions, data policies, and execution modes.
## Features Demonstrated
- Creating and loading policy packs
- Tool permission checking (allow/deny)
- Policy modes (dev/prod)
- Merging policies
- Data and PII policies
## Quick Start
```bash
python policy_example.py
```
## CLI Commands
```bash
# Show default policy
praisonai recipe policy show
# Show policy from file
praisonai recipe policy show my-policy.yaml
# Create policy template
praisonai recipe policy init -o my-policy.yaml
# Validate policy file
praisonai recipe policy validate my-policy.yaml
```
## Policy File Format
```yaml
name: my-org-policy
version: "1.0"
tools:
allow:
- web.search
- db.query
deny:
- shell.exec
- file.write
network:
allow_domains:
- api.openai.com
deny_domains:
- localhost
pii:
mode: redact # allow, deny, redact
fields:
- email
- phone
data:
retention_days: 30
export_allowed: true
modes:
dev:
allow_interactive_prompts: true
strict_tool_enforcement: false
prod:
allow_interactive_prompts: false
strict_tool_enforcement: true
require_auth: true
```
## Using Policy with Recipe Run
```bash
# Run with policy file
praisonai recipe run my-recipe --policy my-policy.yaml --mode prod
```

# Recipe Registry Example
This example demonstrates how to use the PraisonAI recipe registry for publishing and pulling recipes.
## Features Demonstrated
- Creating a local registry
- Packing recipes into bundles
- Publishing recipes to the registry
- Listing and searching recipes
- Pulling recipes from the registry
## Quick Start
```bash
# Run the example
python registry_example.py
```
## CLI Commands
```bash
# Publish a recipe
praisonai recipe publish ./my-recipe --json
# Pull a recipe
praisonai recipe pull [email protected] -o ./recipes
# List recipes in registry
praisonai recipe list --json
# Search recipes
praisonai recipe search "hello"
```
## Using a Custom Registry Path
```bash
# Publish to custom registry
praisonai recipe publish ./my-recipe --registry /path/to/registry
# Pull from custom registry
praisonai recipe pull [email protected] --registry /path/to/registry
```
## Default Registry Location
By default, the registry is stored at `~/.praison/registry`.

# Security Features Example
This example demonstrates PraisonAI security features including SBOM generation, lockfile validation, dependency auditing, and PII redaction.
## Features Demonstrated
- **SBOM Generation**: Generate Software Bill of Materials in CycloneDX or SPDX format
- **Lockfile Validation**: Validate presence and format of dependency lockfiles
- **Dependency Auditing**: Audit dependencies for vulnerabilities
- **PII Redaction**: Detect and redact personally identifiable information
## Quick Start
```bash
python security_example.py
```
## CLI Commands
### SBOM Generation
```bash
# Generate CycloneDX SBOM
praisonai recipe sbom ./my-recipe --format cyclonedx -o sbom.json
# Generate SPDX SBOM
praisonai recipe sbom ./my-recipe --format spdx -o sbom.json
```
### Dependency Auditing
```bash
# Audit dependencies
praisonai recipe audit ./my-recipe
# Strict audit (fail on issues)
praisonai recipe audit ./my-recipe --strict
```
### Lockfile Validation
```bash
# Validate recipe (includes lockfile check)
praisonai recipe validate ./my-recipe --require-lockfile
```
## PII Redaction Configuration
In your `TEMPLATE.yaml`:
```yaml
data_policy:
pii:
mode: redact # allow, deny, or redact
fields:
- email
- phone
- ssn
- credit_card
```

# Recipe Server Example
This example demonstrates how to configure and run the PraisonAI recipe server with authentication.
## Files
- `serve.yaml` - Server configuration file
- `serve_example.py` - Python client example with authentication
## Quick Start
### 1. Install Dependencies
```bash
pip install praisonai[serve]
```
### 2. Set Environment Variables
```bash
export OPENAI_API_KEY=your-openai-key
export PRAISONAI_API_KEY=your-secret-api-key
```
### 3. Start the Server
```bash
# Using config file
praisonai recipe serve --config serve.yaml
# Or with CLI flags
praisonai recipe serve --port 8765 --auth api-key
```
### 4. Test with the Example
```bash
python serve_example.py
```
## Configuration Options
See `serve.yaml` for all available options:
| Option | Description | Default |
|--------|-------------|---------|
| `host` | Server bind address | 127.0.0.1 |
| `port` | Server port | 8765 |
| `auth` | Auth type (none, api-key, jwt) | none |
| `api_key` | API key for auth | - |
| `preload` | Preload recipes on startup | false |
| `recipes` | List of recipes to serve | all |
| `cors_origins` | CORS allowed origins | - |
## CLI Commands
```bash
# Health check
praisonai endpoints health
# List recipes (with auth)
praisonai endpoints list --api-key your-key
# Invoke recipe
praisonai endpoints invoke my-recipe \
--input-json '{"query": "Hello"}' \
--api-key your-key \
--json
```
## Security Notes
- Always use `--auth api-key` when binding to `0.0.0.0`
- Store API keys in environment variables, not config files
- Use HTTPS in production (via reverse proxy)

| Security | `examples/security/` | `python3 security_example.py` |
| Policy | `examples/policy/` | `python3 policy_example.py` |
## 6. Performance Impact Analysis
### Lazy Import Verification
All recipe modules use lazy imports:
- `recipe/__init__.py` - Uses `__getattr__` for lazy loading
- `recipe/registry.py` - No heavy imports at module level
- `recipe/history.py` - No heavy imports at module level
- `recipe/security.py` - Lazy imports for yaml, cryptography
- `recipe/policy.py` - Lazy imports for yaml
- `recipe/serve.py` - Lazy imports for starlette, uvicorn
### No Impact on praisonaiagents
- Recipe modules are NOT imported by praisonaiagents
- All recipe imports are in praisonai wrapper package only
- Optional dependencies (cryptography, PyJWT) only loaded when needed
## Test Results Summary
