Description

When the zsh default background is black, the font in the Opencode terminal is very dim upon launch. When zsh has ANSI colors enabled by default, the text in the input box is invisible, and the model information below the input box is also invisible—unless the background is changed to white.

This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:

  • #6823: CLI colors have low contrast on macOS Terminal (black / Pro theme) - Similar issue with dim/low contrast text on dark backgrounds
  • #10054: Mac终端(zsh)下看不见字!Can't see any text in the zsh terminal on a Mac! - Nearly identical issue: text invisible in zsh with black background, only visible when background changed to white
  • #4461: Input text is black on black - Related contrast issue in macOS Terminal Pro theme
  • #7739: Invisible text in question selector - Invisible text issue (though with custom transparent backgrounds)
  • #4236: Can't use custom themes that use ANSI colors - Related to ANSI color handling

Feel free to ignore if none of these address your specific case.

I have this too and can't find anything to fix it other than running in tmux or using Ghostty..

Thread with more detail and examples.. this is even resetting the terminal to defaults. amp/claude work fine no issues.

I think this wasn't the case pre 1.0
