The mailbox read safely and counted by visits, five kinds of list, and two rules moved where they belong
Three reviewers read the layers of the prompt: the rules every form gets, the site plugins, and the three that reach every form. What they found. The mailbox was the hole. The plugins said to take "the code or the link" with nothing said about which link, and Outlook's search matches the words inside messages, so a message that merely mentions the site could surface and be followed. Both plugins now take one of two things, the code or a link whose host is the site's own, judge the sender by its From address and not the name it shows, and take nothing else from the message. They also search the subject "verification code", which is what found the code on a real run, instead of the site's own host, which these messages are not sent from. The limit on looking was a bug of mine: it counted pages of the mailbox, while the plugin tells the model to open the mailbox and then its search, which is two pages, so the first honest re-check ended the form. It now counts arrivals, and inside a visit the model moves about freely. menus.md now cuts the world in five, not four, with the test that tells them apart: what takes the focus. An editable input is a typeahead, a div showing "--" is a listbox, a group that opens nothing is radios with the real input hidden, and a field that keeps several values is a tag field. The list is found by the field's aria-controls, not by one site's id pattern. The keyboard way past a covered option now says to read which row is highlighted before Enter, and never to click from a script, which the browser refuses anyway. Two rules moved to the rules every form gets, and left the site plugins that repeated them: status ready needs a selector for the send control, and a fact about the candidate that neither the CV nor the answers give, such as a reference's name or a licence number, is never written. A required field asking for one ends the form, named. That is the one case where a required field is left for the person. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <[email protected]>

A field that makes you choose is one of five things, and which one decides what works. Read it with browser_snapshot or browser_read_html first, and tell them apart by what takes the focus.
1. A native `<select>`: `browser_select_option` with the option's value or its label. A click on it is wasted.
2. A listbox: a box with `role="combobox"`, or a div that shows "--" or "Select One" until a choice is made. Click the box, read its options with browser_evaluate as the children of the list the page gives it, whose id is often the field's id with `__listbox` after it, then click the option by its own id, such as `#<field>__listbox__option__3`.
3. A typeahead: a text input that filters rows as you type. Type the answer's words, read the rows in its container, whose id is often the field's id with `-dropdown-list-container` after it, and click the first row. On some sites that row reads "Create <the words you typed>" and still sets the value.
4. A radio or checkbox group drawn as a menu: the input is hidden and a div beside it takes the click. Click that div by what it holds, such as `div[role="radio"]:has(input[name="Q_1"][value="true"])`.
2. A listbox: what takes the focus is a div or a button, often showing "--" or "Select One". Click it to open its list, read the options, click the one you want. The list is named by the field's `aria-controls` or `aria-owns`, and where it is not, it is the element that appeared on the click; some sites name it with the field's own id and `__listbox` after it.
3. A typeahead: what takes the focus is an editable text input, and typing filters the rows. Type the words of your answer, read the rows, and click the row that matches it, or the first if they all do. On some sites that row reads "Create" and your words, and still sets the value.
4. A radio or checkbox group drawn as a menu: nothing opens, the real input is hidden, and a div beside it takes the click. Click that div by what it holds, such as `div[role="radio"]:has(input[name="Q_1"][value="true"])`.
5. A tag field: one input that keeps several values, each added by typing it and pressing Enter. Add one value at a time and read the tags back.
A listbox with a search box inside it is still a listbox: type into it to shorten a long list, such as a country list, then choose a row.
Check the result, do not assume it. Read the field's own text back with browser_evaluate and see your answer in it. A click the tool called a success often leaves the field empty.
When a click does not land, and the tool says the event would have landed elsewhere or the element is not actionable, do not click it again: the option is under something else. Press ArrowDown as many times as the option's place in the list, then Enter, which is how a person with a keyboard does it. If the list is inside a shadow root, read the option's box with browser_evaluate, which only reads, and click its centre with browser_click_at: those numbers are viewport pixels, the same as a snapshot's `at`. Never take a point off a screenshot by eye.

When a click does not land, and the tool says the event would have landed elsewhere or the element is not actionable, do not click it again: the option is under something else. There are two ways past it. With the list open, press ArrowDown and read which row is now highlighted, from the list's `aria-activedescendant` or the row's own class, and press Enter when it is yours. Or read that row's box with browser_evaluate and click its centre with browser_click_at: those numbers are viewport pixels, the same as a snapshot's `at`. Never take a point off a screenshot by eye, and never click from a script, because the browser refuses an event a script made.

When one list has beaten you three times, leave it. If the field is optional, go on without it. If it is required, call finish_form with status blocked and name that field. A form left half filled tells the person something; fifty steps spent on one menu tell them nothing. On a real form two lists took 100 of the 150 steps a form is allowed, and the rest of the form was nearly not filled at all.

My Information: "How Did You Hear About Us?" is a list and "Have you previously worked for ..." a yes or no. Then the legal name (`legalNameSection_firstName`, `legalNameSection_lastName`), the address (`addressSection_addressLine1`, `addressSection_city`, `addressSection_postalCode`, with a region list on most countries) and the phone (`phone-device-type`, a country code list, `phone-number`).
