The 4.0 flip from the phase 5 plan: emuThreadDefaultFor() is true for
release, nightly and dev (an unknown channel string stays Off), and
VJ_EMU_THREAD_DEFAULT_VALUE is 1 for every channel. The channel still
names the build in About and the log. Unchanged: a stored ui.emu_thread
wins, --emu-thread off runs one start inline, a failed thread start falls
back inline, headless runs stay inline unless --emu-thread on.
Called by the maintainer with G1-G3 met and G4/G5 still open; the phase 5
plan and the design doc's section 8 record that. The default smoke tests
now expect "default on" in every channel; the unit test pins all three
channels On and unknown ones Off.

- Halt, mode A vs mode B: 0 underruns in each.
- Phase 3 Studio gate: two quiet-host passes (halted p99 about 18 ms). One run under load failed, and one was skipped.

- Fill the phase 5 plan's evidence table:
- G1 and G2 from #1130.
- G3: the mode B bar and its transitions (#1128).
- A same-host A/B of mode A against the phase 1 build. It finds no mode A regression; the extra Cybermorph repeats appear inline too.
- The inline halt arm, which --perf-halt cannot drive.
- G3 halt A vs B, the phase 3 gate, G4 and G5 are still pending.
- Correct G3's gate label: emu_thread_gate_check.sh is the phase 3 Studio gate.
- README: a "Reporting a threading problem" section. It names the About line, the Frame pacing "Now:" line, the display, an --emu-thread off comparison and the log prefixes to include.

Gates G1-G5 before releases default the emulation thread On: threaded
twins for the 20 app tests without one, every CI platform, the Studio
60 Hz measurement, Windows/Linux/120 Hz reports and a two-week nightly
window. Three PRs: 5a twins, 5b evidence record, 5c the flip (last).
The inline loop is retired only after a default-on release ships.
