BillyOutlast b2630118ac ci(ocr): point review job at org reusable workflow (pinned)
Fix 'failed to fetch workflow' parse error: ocr.yml referenced a local reusable workflow path (./.github/workflows/ocr-review.yml) that does not exist in this repo. Point at Heretek-AI/.github org reusable workflow pinned to main HEAD (a440b485).

Claude 07d533a69b docs: update implementation brief to v2
Correct engine pins and env-var contract against rea source (Apktool >=3.0.2,
rizin not r2, Binwalk 3.1/Unblob env vars, prlimit, absolute REA_* paths) and
add compact schema profile, target-integrity edit guard (M3b), and re-box
healthcheck/compose details.

Claude 80923829a4 docs: add REA × OpenCode implementation prompt
Spoonfeeder brief for building out opencode-rea (thin plugin + a
rea_bootstrap_stack tool wiring RE skill packs, operator-memory and
opencode-workflows) and the re-box Docker image that satisfies REA's
caller-supplied engine env-var contract (Ghidra 12.1.4, JADX 0.7.1,
radare2/rizin, etc.), runs rea setup, and installs the plugin.

All API and version facts were verified by running the pinned toolchain
(@opencode/plugin 2.0.26 types, rea setup output, rea doctor engine
contract, the e2e plugin-load smoke).

section when steps fail) and `metadata.results` is the raw `StepResult[]`.
- Workflows failure is non-fatal: if the `OpenCode Workflows plugin` step does
not complete, the bootstrap still finishes and the content notes that bounded
fan-out falls back to REA's own subagent delegation (that plugin fails to
load on newer CLIs; see `docs/NOTES.md` D5).

# Third-Party Notices — opencode-rea
This plugin installs third-party skill packs **on demand** at runtime via
`rea_bootstrap_stack` (`npx skills add … --agent opencode --yes`; see
`src/bootstrap.ts` `REA_SKILL_PACKS`). Nothing below is vendored into this
repo: `skills/` ships only the four first-party `rea-*` skills. The table
records the source, license, and pinned commit each pack was verified at.
## On-demand skill packs (installed by `rea_bootstrap_stack`, never vendored)

### Apache-2.0 NOTICE preservation (ReVa)
Searched `review/reverse-engineering-assistant` (depth ≤ 3, including `ReVa/`)
for `NOTICE*`: **no NOTICE file exists**. The Apache-2.0 `LICENSE` texts at the
repo root and at `ReVa/LICENSE` are byte-identical (`diff -q` → SAME), so there
is nothing further to preserve. If an upstream `NOTICE` appears later, it must
be copied alongside any vendored ReVa material.
## Packs deliberately NOT vendored
- **Big packs (on demand only):** `mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills`
(818 skills, Apache-2.0, verified at
`54a798831d2266a3ca61ce68a7acb80b81160d57`,

https://github.com/zhaoxuya520/reverse-skill) are installed on demand via
`npx skills add`, never copied into this repo.
- **GPLv3 exclusion:** `zhaoxuya520/reverse-skill/CTF-Sandbox-Orchestrator/`
is **GPLv3** (`GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 3, 29 June 2007`). It is
**NEVER** copied, vendored, or installed by this plugin.
- **Licensed disassemblers:** IDA and Hopper are commercial tools and are
**NOT** baked into any image or bundle. They are mounted or hosted by the
user via `REA_IDA_MCP_CONFIG` / `HOPPER_LAUNCHER_PATH` (see
`docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md` §3/§4.4).

# REA × OpenCode — Implementation Prompt (v2, merged)
> v2 (2026-10-17): the Claude brief, corrected against `Heretek-AI/rea` source and
> extended with the parts of a parallel Gemini plan that checked out. Changes from
> v1 are marked **[v2]**.
> **Read this entire file before you write a single line of code.** Your training
> data is out of date for OpenCode v2, the `@opencode/plugin` API, and REA. Every
> fact below the "Verified facts" heading was checked by running the pinned
> toolchain on 2026-10-17. Trust this file over your memory. When this file and
> your memory disagree, this file wins; when this file is silent, look it up in
> the source (named below), never guess.
## 1. Mission
Build two things that together let an OpenCode v2 agent reverse-engineer anything:
1. **opencode-rea** (this repo, `@heretek-ai/opencode-rea`) — already a working v2
plugin at 0.1.2. You will **keep it thin** and *add* one bootstrap tool/command
that installs the reverse-engineering stack (skill packs, a markdown memory
layer, complementary MCP servers) on demand, plus small agent-prompt upgrades.
You will **not** fold a memory engine or an orchestration harness into the
plugin itself.
2. **re-box** (separate repo `Heretek-AI/re-box`, currently empty) — a Docker image
that preinstalls the native toolchain REA needs, runs `rea setup`, installs this
plugin, and bundles the stack, so a container starts ready to work.
The design rests on one verified fact: **REA installs none of its analysis
engines.** They are all caller-supplied through environment variables. re-box's job
is to satisfy that contract reproducibly. Get the contract right and the rest is
wiring.
## 2. How to work
1. Do the milestones in order (Section 6). Do not start a milestone until the
previous one's **Acceptance** checks all pass.
2. Every acceptance check is a concrete command with an expected result. Run it.
"Looks right" is not passing.
3. Commit once per milestone, staging explicit paths only
(`git add docs/FILE src/FILE …`). **Never** `git add -A` or `git add .` — this
repo's `AGENTS.md` forbids it, and the review mirror under `review/` must never
be staged.
4. Never skip, delete, weaken, or `.skip` a test to make a gate pass. If a test is
wrong, explain why in `docs/NOTES.md` and fix the cause.
5. Never invent an API. When you need a shape, look it up **in this order**:
(a) the TypeScript types in `node_modules/@opencode/plugin/dist/promise/*.d.ts`;
(b) the existing source in this repo (`src/*.ts`) and the reference plugin
`review/` or the Unity kit; (c) a throwaway experiment in `/tmp`, never in the
repo. Write the answer in `docs/NOTES.md` with the evidence.
6. Log every discovery and every discrepancy with the spec in `docs/NOTES.md`,
each with the command and output that proves it.
7. If the same error defeats you three times, stop. Write what you tried in
`docs/NOTES.md` and move the blocker to the top of your next report.
8. Hard rules you must never break (from this repo's `AGENTS.md`, proven in its CI
gate), repeated here because they are easy to violate:
- **Never** call `ctx.mcp.transform` in this plugin. It reads MCP registration
(`ctx.mcp.list()`), never writes it. `rea setup` owns MCP config.
- **Never** run bare `bun test` or bare `tsc` over the repo root. Always target
`test/` and always pass `--path-ignore-patterns 'review/**'` (the `bun` positional
is a substring filter and will otherwise leak `review/**` tests).
- **Never** add `effect` or `@opencode/plugin` as a runtime dependency.
`@opencode/plugin` is a peer + dev dependency only.
- **Never** edit, build, or test anything under `review/` (read-only prior art).
## 3. Paths and setup
### Machines and repos
Reference clones already exist on the user's machine. Use these exact absolute paths:
| Repo | Path on the user's machine | Role |
| --- | --- | --- |
| opencode-rea | `/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea` | This repo. Work here. |
| re-box | `/home/john/Projects/RE/re-box` | Docker image. Work here. |
| rea | `/home/john/Projects/RE/rea` | REA source + docs (read-only reference) |
| unity.gamedev.kit | `/home/john/Projects/RE/unity.gamedev.kit` | Reference implementation for the bootstrap runner |
| review repos | `/home/john/Projects/RE/review/*` | Skill/tool sources to port from (read-only) |
**Branch:** create and work on `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf` in **both**
`opencode-rea` and `re-box`. Never push to another branch without explicit
permission. If this repo's PR for that branch is already merged when you start
follow-up work, re-create the branch from the latest default branch
(`git fetch origin main && git checkout -B claude/project-thread-gnv9zf origin/main`)
and open a new PR — do not stack on merged history.
### Toolchain (install exactly these; confirm each `--version`)
```sh
# In opencode-rea (uses bun):
bun install # installs @opencode/[email protected] etc. per package.json
node_modules/.bin/opencode --version # expect: opencode v2.0.26 (current pin)
node --version # expect: v22.x (>=22.19) — REA needs ^22.19 || ^24.11 || >=26
```
For re-box you will move the OpenCode CLI pin to **2.0.32** (decision 4). See
Milestone 4.
### Files to port, and from where
| Target | Source (read-only reference) | What to take |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `rea_bootstrap_stack` tool + runner | `unity.gamedev.kit/src/bootstrap.ts`, `src/v2.ts` (the `gamedev_bootstrap_stack` tool) | The `runCommand`/`runBootstrap`/`formatResults` pattern and the tool-registration shape. Re-implement for REA's packs; do not copy Unity packs. |
| Bundled RE skills | `review/p4nda0s_reverse-skills/skills/*` (MIT), `review/ljagiello_ctf-skills/*` (MIT), `review/cyberkaida_reverse-engineering-assistant/ReVa/skills/*` (Apache-2.0), `review/rehan-remade_universal-modder/skills/*` (MIT) | The RE-relevant `SKILL.md` folders. Keep each repo's LICENSE notice. |
| re-box engine contract | `rea/docs/android-analysis.md`, `rea/docs/installation.md`, `rea/docs/reverse-engineering-tools.md` | Exact pinned engine versions, URLs, env vars (reproduced in Section 4). |
### License obligations
- Everything you bundle is MIT or Apache-2.0. For each ported skill set, keep the
upstream `LICENSE` file alongside it and add a line to `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`
(create it if absent) naming the source repo, its license, and the commit you
took it from. Apache-2.0 (ReVa) additionally requires preserving any `NOTICE`
file — copy it if present.
- Do **not** vendor the big packs (`mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills`,
818 skills, Apache-2.0; `zhaoxuya520/reverse-skill`, 89, MIT). Install those
on demand via `npx skills add` instead.
- Do **not** bake IDA or Hopper into re-box — they are licensed. Document mounting
them and setting `REA_IDA_MCP_CONFIG` / `HOPPER_LAUNCHER_PATH`.
## 4. Verified facts
All verified 2026-10-17 by running the pinned toolchain. Group by topic.
### 4.1 OpenCode v2 plugin API (`@opencode/[email protected]`)
A plugin is defined and the host calls `setup(ctx)` lazily on first capability use:
```ts
import { Plugin } from "@opencode/plugin"
export default Plugin.define({
id: "rea",
setup: async (ctx) => { /* register here; return an optional cleanup fn */ },
})
```
`ctx` exposes these domains (source: `dist/promise/plugin.d.ts`): `agent`,
`command`, `event`, `mcp`, `model`, `permission`, `session`, `shell`, `skill`,
`storage`, `tool`, `provider`, `reference`, `rpc`, `vcs`, `websearch`, `worktree`,
`integration`, `aisdk`, `plugin` (list only), `generate`, `experimental.terminal`.
Registration domains each have `.transform(editor => …)`, `.reload()`, and most have
`.list()`. The editor shapes you will use (exact, from the `.d.ts`):
```ts
// ctx.tool.transform(editor => …)
editor.namespace({ name, description }) // Code Mode catalog namespace
editor.add({ name, description, input, options, execute }) // input = JSON Schema; options?: { namespace?, codemode? }
editor.update(id, tool => { … }) // missing ids ignored
editor.list(): readonly (Info & { id: string })[] // sync, inside transform
// ctx.tool.list(): Promise<…> — async, after all transforms
// ctx.skill.transform(editor => …)
editor.add({ id, name, description, path, content }) // path = absolute SKILL.md; content = body after frontmatter
// ctx.agent.transform(editor => …)
editor.update(id, agent => { agent.name=…; agent.description=…; agent.mode=…; agent.system=…; agent.permissions.push(rule) })
// ctx.command.transform(editor => …)
editor.add({ name, description?, execute: async ({ sessionID, prompt, delivery }) => { await ctx.session.prompt({ …prompt, sessionID, delivery, text }) } })
// ctx.mcp.transform(editor => …) — DO NOT USE in this plugin. For reference only:
editor.set(name, { type: "local", command: [...], timeout?: { startup: ms } })
// ctx.permission.hook("evaluate", event => { event.effect = "deny" | "allow" | "ask"; event.message = "…" })
// event = { sessionID, agent?, action, resources, metadata?, source?, effect, message? }
```
A tool's `execute` receives `(input, context)` where `context` has `sessionID`,
`agent`, `messageID`, `id`, `signal: AbortSignal`, `progress(update)`, and you
assert permission with `ctx.permission.assert({ sessionID, agent, source, action,
resources, save })`. See `unity.gamedev.kit/src/v2.ts` `gamedev_bootstrap_stack`
for a working example of a permission-gated, progress-reporting tool.
### 4.2 Plugin loading (verified by the e2e smoke in real `opencode v2.0.26`)
A local plugin loads from `opencode.json`:
```jsonc
{ "plugins": ["<absolute path to the plugin directory>"] }
```
The directory must have a root `index.js` that re-exports `./dist/index.js`
(a packed+extracted dir without it is silently never loaded — this is already
the case in this repo; keep it). `opencode run --standalone --format json --auto`
emits newline-delimited JSON events (`step_start`, `text`, `tool_use`,
`step_finish`). Without `--auto`, a `shell: ask` tool call is auto-rejected with
feedback and the run continues (exit 0). A broken plugin surfaces `LoadError` /
`Plugin must export` in server logs — assert their **absence** in smokes.
### 4.3 REA MCP registration (verified by running `rea setup`)
`rea setup --client opencode --yes` (rea-agents 6.5.0) writes exactly this into
`~/.config/opencode/opencode.json` and installs the `reverse-engineer-anything`
skill into `~/.agents/skills/`:
```json
{ "mcp": { "rea": { "type": "local", "command": ["<abs path>/rea", "mcp"], "enabled": true } } }
```
This plugin **reuses** that registration. It reads it via `ctx.mcp.list()` and
never writes MCP config. The readiness tool (`rea_readiness`, already in this repo)
reports live status, tool counts, and whether `reverse-engineer-anything` is
visible. REA tools surface as `rea_<tool>` (or `<sanitized-server>_<tool>` if the
`server` option is customized).
### 4.4 REA's engine env-var contract (verified by `rea doctor --client opencode --json`)
REA installs **no** engines. Each is caller-supplied. Pinned versions and sources
(from `rea/docs/*`, exact):

(`rea/src/application/CapabilityInventory.ts:399-461`). `REA_TSHARK_PRLIMIT_COMMAND`
overrides the path.
### 4.4a Schema profile **[v2]**
REA's MCP catalog is ~496 KB (~120k tokens) with the default input-schema profile
and ~290 KB (~68k tokens) with `compact`, same tool set, same server-side validation
(`rea/docs/client-configuration.md:105-135`). re-box sets
`REA_MCP_INPUT_SCHEMA_PROFILE=compact` in the `environment` of the `mcp.rea` entry
that `rea setup` wrote (a config-file edit in `setup-rea.sh`, **not** a
`ctx.mcp.transform` in the plugin). The plugin's README documents the same edit for
non-container users.
### 4.4b Other REA rules worth knowing **[v2]**
- `open_binary` refuses WASM (`wasm_requires_static_inspection`); route `.wasm` to
`inspect_wasm_artifact` (`rea/docs/wasm-artifacts.md:7-11`). Put this in the
`rea` agent prompt.
- Setting `REA_GHIDRA_COMPILER_SPEC_ID` without `REA_GHIDRA_LANGUAGE_ID` fails
REA's environment validation (`rea/src/config/environment.ts:181-189`). Leave both
unset in re-box.
### 4.5 Pinned package versions
| Package | Version | Note |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `rea-agents` | 6.5.0 | the `rea` CLI + MCP server |
| `@opencode/cli` / `@opencode/plugin` / `@opencode/sdk` | 2.0.26 (this repo's current pin); latest 2.0.32 | re-box moves CLI to **2.0.32** |
| `@heretek-ai/opencode-rea` | 0.1.2 | this plugin |
| `@heretek-ai/unity.gamedev.kit` | 0.1.1 | reference |
| `@aerovato/operator-helper` | latest | installs operator-memory for OpenCode V2 |
| `@rphang/opencode-workflows` | pinned to opencode 2.0.15 upstream | parallel fan-out; verify it loads on 2.0.32 before relying on it |
### 4.6 Decisions locked by the user
1. Keep opencode-rea thin; put orchestration + memory + skill bootstrap into a
`rea_bootstrap_stack` tool and into re-box. **(locked)**
2. Memory layer: **`@aerovato/operator-memory`** (via `operator-helper install
opencode-v2`). **(locked)**
3. Orchestration: keep REA's own `rea`/`rea-analyst`/`rea-runtime`/`rea-auditor`
agents and add **`@rphang/opencode-workflows`** for bounded parallel fan-out.
**(locked)**
4. Pin `@opencode/cli` in re-box at **2.0.32**. **(locked)**
5. Assumed (not contradicted): bundle only MIT/Apache skills, big packs on-demand;
re-box is Linux-only with IDA/Hopper/iOS documented as mount-or-host.
### Not verified — check these early and record the answers in `docs/NOTES.md`
- That `@rphang/opencode-workflows` (pinned to opencode 2.0.15) actually loads and
runs under `@opencode/cli@2.0.32`. **Verify in Milestone 2 before depending on
it.** If it fails, fall back to REA's own subagent delegation and report it.
- A real native decompile inside a built re-box image (Ghidra and JADX actually
producing output), not just `--version`.
- Whether moving this repo's own `@opencode/cli` dev-dep from 2.0.26 to 2.0.32
keeps all gates green (the plugin's tests pin 2.0.26; do **not** bump this repo's
pin unless a milestone says so — only re-box moves to 2.0.32).
- Exact current radare2/rizin/Unblob/Apktool package availability in the chosen
base image. Confirm each with its own `--version` during the Docker build.
- macOS-only targets (ipatool, Apple bundle analysis, Hopper) — out of scope for
the Linux image; confirm nobody expects them in the container.
## 5. Target layout
### opencode-rea (additions only — the rest of the tree stays as-is)
```
src/
bootstrap.ts # NEW: runCommand/runBootstrap/formatResults (ported from the Unity kit), REA pack list
commands.ts # EDIT: add /rea-bootstrap to COMMAND_IDS + the command definition
index.ts # EDIT: register the new tool + command in setup()
agents/rea.md # EDIT: fold in checkpoint/resume + challenger-branch discipline
skills/ # NEW bundled RE skills, each its own folder with SKILL.md + LICENSE
rev-frida/ … (ported, see Section 3)
test/
unit/bootstrap.test.ts # NEW: step list, pack list, formatResults
integration/bootstrap.test.ts # NEW: tool registers, permission is asserted
unit/docs.test.ts # EDIT: the docs guard already checks README vs source; extend for the new command
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md # NEW: ported-skill attributions
docs/
IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md # this file
NOTES.md # NEW: your discovery log
```
Do not add runtime dependencies. The bootstrap runner uses only `node:child_process`,
`node:fs`, `node:path` (as the Unity kit does). `operator-helper`,
`opencode-workflows`, and the skill packs are installed **by** the bootstrap at
runtime (`npm i -g` / `npx skills add`), never bundled as deps.
### re-box (new repo)
```
Dockerfile # multi-stage; base + engines + opencode + wire-up
.dockerignore
README.md # what's inside, how to run, how to mount IDA/Hopper
scripts/
install-ghidra.sh # pinned 12.1.4 download + checksum + GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR
install-jadx.sh # pinned 0.7.1 jar + sha256 + REA_JADX_MCP_JAR
setup-rea.sh # rea setup --client opencode; opencode plugin add; bundle skills; operator-helper
smoke.sh # start container, run one end-to-end investigation
docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md # a copy of this file for re-box contributors
.github/workflows/build.yml # build the image, run smoke.sh
```
## 6. Milestones
### M0 — Re-run the two load spikes yourself
**Do:** In `opencode-rea`, `bun install`, `bun run build`, then run the e2e smoke
that loads the built plugin into the real CLI:
`bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/e2e/smoke.test.ts`. Separately, in
a throwaway `HOME`, run `node_modules/.bin/rea setup --client opencode --yes` and
cat the resulting `~/.config/opencode/opencode.json`.
**Acceptance:**
- `opencode --version` prints `opencode v2.0.26`.
- The smoke test prints `1 pass` and the run exit code is 0.
- The written `opencode.json` contains `"mcp": { "rea": { "type": "local",
"command": [..., "mcp"], "enabled": true } }`.
- You wrote both observations into `docs/NOTES.md`. If any differs from Section 4,
stop and reconcile the spec first.
### M1 — Bootstrap runner (`src/bootstrap.ts`)
**Do:** Port the Unity kit's runner. Exact signatures:
```ts
export interface BootstrapOptions { installSkills?: boolean; installMemory?: boolean; installWorkflows?: boolean }
export interface StepResult { label: string; status: "ok" | "failed" | "skipped"; detail: string }
export function reaBootstrapSteps(cwd: string, o?: BootstrapOptions): BootstrapStep[]
export function runCommand(command: string, args: string[], o: { cwd: string; signal?: AbortSignal; timeoutMs?: number }): Promise<{ code: number | null; output: string }>
export async function runBootstrap(cwd: string, o?: BootstrapOptions, hooks?: { signal?: AbortSignal; onStep?: (label: string, i: number, total: number) => void }): Promise<StepResult[]>
export function formatResults(results: readonly StepResult[]): string
```
Steps (each a `{ label, command, args, skip? }`), only MIT/Apache packs:
- `npx -y skills@latest add p4nda0s/reverse-skills --agent opencode --yes`
- `npx -y skills@latest add ljagiello/ctf-skills --agent opencode --yes`
- `npx -y skills@latest add cyberkaida/reverse-engineering-assistant --agent opencode --yes`
- `npx -y skills@latest add rehan-remade/universal-modder --agent opencode --yes`
- memory: `npm install --global @aerovato/operator-helper@latest`, then
`operator-helper install opencode-v2`
- workflows: `opencode plugin add @rphang/opencode-workflows` (guard with a `skip`
that returns a reason if the version check from the "Not verified" list fails)
Copy the Unity kit's `runCommand` verbatim in spirit: no TTY, `CI=1 NO_COLOR=1`,
Windows `.cmd` shim handling, 300s default timeout, tail output to ~1500 bytes.
**Acceptance:** `test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts` asserts `reaBootstrapSteps()` returns
the exact labels above in order, that `installSkills:false` drops the four skill
steps, and that `formatResults` renders `[OK]`/`[FAILED]`/`[SKIPPED]` lines.
`bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts` → all pass.
**Also verify the workflows load fact** (Not-verified item 1) in a `/tmp` scratch
opencode project and record it in `docs/NOTES.md` before this milestone is "done".
### M2 — `rea_bootstrap_stack` tool + `/rea-bootstrap` command
**Do:** In `src/index.ts` `setup()`, register a native tool (mirror the Unity kit's
`gamedev_bootstrap_stack`): JSON-Schema input `{ installSkills?, installMemory?,
installWorkflows? }` (booleans, `additionalProperties: false`), `options: {
codemode: false }`. In `execute`, call `ctx.permission.assert({ … action:
"rea_bootstrap_stack", resources: [directory], save: ["*"] })` **before** running,
then `runBootstrap(...)` with `onStep` wired to `context.progress`, then
`ctx.skill.reload()`. Add `/rea-bootstrap` to `src/commands.ts` `COMMAND_IDS` and a
command definition whose prompt tells the agent to call `rea_bootstrap_stack` then
`rea_readiness` and report what installed.
**Acceptance:**
- `test/integration/bootstrap.test.ts`: after `setup()`, `ctx.tool.list()` includes
`rea_bootstrap_stack`; calling it without approval is rejected (permission
asserted); `COMMAND_IDS` includes `rea-bootstrap` and contains no `":"`.
- `bun run check` (tsc) passes. `bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**'
test/unit test/integration` → all pass.
- `docs.test.ts` (extended) confirms README documents the new tool and command.
### M3 — Agent-prompt upgrades (`src/agents/rea.md`)
**Do:** Add two short sections to the `rea` lead prompt, borrowing Goblin-D.M.T.'s
discipline (ideas only, no dependency): (a) a **checkpoint/resume** habit — before a
long or branching step, write a one-line resume capsule (current target identity,
open evidence IDs, the question in flight) so a cold session can continue; (b) a
**challenger branch** — when the leading hypothesis is weakly supported, spin one
bounded alternate before committing. Keep it consistent with the existing evidence
discipline; do not contradict the observations/inferences/unknowns rules.
**Acceptance:** `bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/agents.test.ts`
still passes (the agent file parses, has non-empty `description` frontmatter and a
body). `rea.md` gains the two sections and nothing in the permission/effects tests
changes.
### M3b — Target-integrity edit guard **[v2]**
**Do:** The plugin gates runtime-effect tools but nothing stops an agent from
editing a target binary, capture or decompiler database. Extend the existing
`ctx.permission.hook("evaluate", …)` in `src/agents.ts` (do not add a second hook)
so an `edit` on any of these is denied with a reason: paths under `targets/`,
`fixtures/`, `captures/`, `ghidra_projects/`, `.rea/`; files matching
`\.(gpr|idb|i64|hop|rzdb|bndb|apk|ipa|asar|pcap|pcapng|core|dmp|wasm)$` or inside
`*.rep/`; `*.rea.backup*` and `*.bundle.json`; `.env*` (except `.env.example`) and
`*.pem|key|pfx|p12|keystore|jks`, `id_rsa*`/`id_ed25519*`. Expose `protectTargets`
(default `true`) in `src/options.ts`. Do not touch the effect-gating logic.
**Acceptance:** a new `test/unit/guard.test.ts` table covers each deny case above
plus allows for `src/x.ts`, `openspec/changes/a/proposal.md`, `.env.example`;
`protectTargets:false` allows all. `bun run check` and
`bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit test/integration` pass.
### M4 — re-box base image
**Do:** In the `re-box` repo, create a multi-stage `Dockerfile`. Base
`ubuntu:24.04`. Install Node 22 (NodeSource or nvm), Bun, a full JDK 21+, procps,
util-linux (prlimit), git, python3 + pip + venv, curl/unzip. Install OpenCode v2 pinned to **2.0.32**:
`npm install -g @opencode/cli@2.0.32`. Create a non-root `re` user and a
`/workspace` mount point.
**Acceptance (run inside the build, as `RUN … && …` with the build failing on any
mismatch):** `node --version` starts `v22.`; `bun --version` prints a version;
`java -version` is 21+; `opencode --version` prints `opencode v2.0.32`;
`ps --version` and `/usr/bin/prlimit --version` work;
`java --list-modules | grep -q jdk.compiler`. Record each in `docs/NOTES.md`.
### M5 — re-box engine contract
**Do:** `scripts/install-ghidra.sh` downloads `Ghidra_12.1.4_build` from the NSA
release, verifies its checksum, extracts to `/opt/ghidra_12.1.4_PUBLIC`, sets
`ENV GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR=/opt/ghidra_12.1.4_PUBLIC`. `scripts/install-jadx.sh`
downloads the pinned JAR to `/opt/jadx/jadx-headless-mcp-0.7.1-all.jar`, verifies
sha256 `6e5eacf500b64292bfb73c49797c1958f6ee44646e43e868039ae7feb573ff75`, sets
`ENV REA_JADX_MCP_JAR=…`. Install rizin 0.9.1 (required) and optionally radare2, GNU
objdump (binutils), gdb + pwndbg, Binwalk 3.1.x, Unblob 26.6.4, Apktool 3.0.2+,
tshark + capinfos, sigrok-cli, adb, Wakaru 1.14.0, WABT 1.0.42, and into a venv at
`/opt/venvs/re-tools` pwntools 4.15.0 and mitmproxy 12.2.3. **[v2]** Write every
`REA_*` path (Section 4.4) into one `config/env.defaults` file, `COPY` it to
`/etc/profile.d/re-box-env.sh`, and mirror it as Docker `ENV` lines so non-login
shells and `opencode` itself see it. Each path must be absolute and must exist.
**Acceptance:** build-time checks: the JADX jar's sha256 matches (build fails
otherwise); `$GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR/support/analyzeHeadless` exists; `rizin -version`,
`objdump --version`, `gdb --version`, `adb --version` succeed; `apktool --version`
is ≥ 3.0.2; `$REA_BINWALK_COMMAND --version` is 3.1.x; `$REA_UNBLOB_COMMAND
--version` is 26.6.x; `$REA_TSHARK_COMMAND --version` is 4.x. **[v2]** A
`scripts/healthcheck.mjs` loops over every path variable in `config/env.defaults`
and fails if any is missing; run it as the last build step and as the Docker
`HEALTHCHECK`. Then `rea doctor --client opencode --json` reports no missing engine
for the ones installed. Then **one real decompile**:
`rea-agents@6.5.0 inspect-android-package <a tiny sample APK> --json` (or the Ghidra
headless equivalent on a tiny ELF) returns real output, not an engine-missing error.
Record the command and a trimmed sample in `docs/NOTES.md`.
### M6 — re-box wire-up
**Do:** `scripts/setup-rea.sh` runs (as the `re` user, at build or first-run):
`npx -y rea-agents@6.5.0 setup --client opencode --yes`; `opencode plugin add
@heretek-ai/opencode-rea`; bundle the curated skill packs into
`~/.agents/skills` (copy from the image, or run the plugin's `rea_bootstrap_stack`
with network, your call — document which); `operator-helper install opencode-v2`.
**[v2]** Then add `"environment": { "REA_MCP_INPUT_SCHEMA_PROFILE": "compact" }`
to the `mcp.rea` entry (merge with `jq`, keep everything `rea setup` wrote), and add
a `watcher.ignore` list for `targets/**`, `captures/**`, `ghidra_projects/**`,
`.rea/**`, `*.gpr`, `*.rep/**`, `*.idb`, `*.i64`, `*.pcap*`, `*.core`, `*.dmp`.
Set the entrypoint to a script that checks `ps` and `prlimit` exist, then
`exec opencode` with `/workspace` as the working dir. Ship a `docker-compose.yml`
that mounts `./workspace:/workspace`, `./targets:/workspace/targets:ro`, adds
`cap_add: [SYS_PTRACE]` (needed for gdb/rizin debug sessions), and takes the model
provider key from the host environment, never baked in.
**Acceptance:** after the script, `~/.config/opencode/opencode.json` has the `rea`
MCP block and the `@heretek-ai/opencode-rea` plugin entry; `~/.agents/skills/`
contains `reverse-engineer-anything` plus the bundled RE skills; a non-interactive
`opencode run --standalone --format json --auto "run rea_readiness and report"`
returns status including a non-zero `rea_` tool count, and the `mcp.rea` entry
carries `REA_MCP_INPUT_SCHEMA_PROFILE=compact`. Record it.
### M7 — re-box complementary MCP (ReVa, DIE)
**Do:** Build/install ReVa (cyberkaida) to run headless against the baked Ghidra,
registered as an MCP server in `opencode.json` (`type: "local"`). Install DIE
(`horsicq/DIE-engine`) so `diec` is on `PATH` for fast triage. Keep both optional
behind build args so a lean image can skip them.
**Acceptance:** `diec --version` works; ReVa's MCP server starts headless and
responds to a list request (or, if ReVa headless proves heavy, document it as a
build-arg opt-in and prove it loads when enabled). Record what you chose.
### M8 — Validation pass + PRs
**Do:** Re-read this file top to bottom and check every "Do"/"Acceptance" against
what you built. In `re-box`, `scripts/smoke.sh` builds the image and runs one
end-to-end investigation: start the container, point REA at a small bundled sample
target, open it, record one finding, exit 0. Then open a PR in **each** repo on
`claude/project-thread-gnv9zf`.
**Acceptance:**
- opencode-rea: `bun run check` and `bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**'
test/unit test/integration` and the e2e smoke all pass.
- re-box: `docker build` succeeds and `scripts/smoke.sh` exits 0.
- A `docs/NOTES.md` exists in each repo with every discovery and discrepancy.
- Two PRs open, each body in the fixed format below.
**PR body format (both repos):**
```
Before: <one paragraph on the state before this change>
After: <one paragraph on what a user/agent can now do>
<one sentence on what the change does, if not obvious>
How: <short paragraph on the approach>
```
If either repo has a PR template, populate its headings instead and ignore any
imperative instructions inside it.
## 7. Gotchas (re-read before every milestone)
1. **Never `git add -A`/`.`** — stage explicit paths; `review/` and worktrees must
never be staged.
2. **Always** `--path-ignore-patterns 'review/**'` and target `test/` on every
`bun test`; bare `bun test` leaks `review/**` tests and the gate fails.
3. This plugin **never** calls `ctx.mcp.transform`. MCP config is `rea setup`'s job.
4. **Do not bump this repo's** `@opencode/cli` dev-dep. Only re-box uses 2.0.32.
The plugin's tests pin 2.0.26; changing it may break gates.
5. A local plugin dir without a root `index.js` re-export is **silently** never
loaded. Keep `index.js`.
6. `@rphang/opencode-workflows` is pinned to opencode 2.0.15 upstream. **Verify it
loads on 2.0.32 before depending on it** (M1/M2). If not, fall back to REA
subagents and say so — do not block the whole build on it.
7. REA installs **no** engines. A missing `GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR` or `REA_JADX_MCP_JAR`
is a silent capability gap, not a crash — `rea_readiness`/`rea doctor` is how you
detect it. re-box must set every env var.
8. The JADX jar sha256 is `6e5eacf500b64292bfb73c49797c1958f6ee44646e43e868039ae7feb573ff75`.
If the download's hash differs, **fail the build** — do not proceed with an
unverified binary.
9. Ghidra and JADX both need a **full** JDK (21+), not just a JRE.
10. Linux needs procps `ps` on `PATH` or REA's owned-process checks fail.
11. IDA/Hopper/ipatool are **not** in the image. Document mount-or-host; don't try
to bake them.
12. Secrets: never bake API keys, tokens, or credentials into the image or commit
them. re-box takes the model provider key at runtime (env/mount), never at build.
13. Bundled skills: keep each upstream LICENSE and add a `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`
entry. Don't vendor the 800-skill pack — install on demand.
14. Don't shadow REA's own `reverse-engineer-anything` skill with a bundled one.
15. **[v2]** REA calls `rizin`, not `r2`. Installing only radare2 leaves every
`rea_*rizin*` tool dead.
16. **[v2]** Apktool below 3.0.2 trips REA's CVE disclosure; apt's binwalk 2.x is
not Binwalk 3.1.x. Pin from upstream releases.
17. **[v2]** REA needs absolute paths in `REA_TSHARK_COMMAND`, `REA_SIGROK_COMMAND`,
`REA_WAKARU_COMMAND`, `REA_BINWALK_COMMAND`, `REA_UNBLOB_COMMAND`. "On PATH"
is not enough for those.
18. **[v2]** If anyone later vendors from `zhaoxuya520/reverse-skill`, its
`CTF-Sandbox-Orchestrator/` is GPLv3. Never copy it.
19. **[v2]** Every acceptance check that names a binary runs **inside the built
image**. A check that only greps a config file for a path proves nothing.
## 8. Definition of done
- [ ] M0 spikes re-run; observations in `docs/NOTES.md` match Section 4.
- [ ] `src/bootstrap.ts` ported; unit tests pass; workflows-load fact recorded.
- [ ] `rea_bootstrap_stack` tool + `/rea-bootstrap` command registered, permission-
gated; integration + docs tests pass.
- [ ] `rea` agent prompt gains checkpoint/resume + challenger-branch sections
and the WASM routing rule; agent tests still pass.
- [ ] **[v2]** Target-integrity edit guard in the existing evaluate hook, with
`protectTargets` option and a guard test table.
- [ ] re-box base image: Node 22 + Bun + JDK 21 + opencode **2.0.32**, all
`--version` checks pass in-build.
- [ ] re-box engines: Ghidra 12.1.4 + JADX 0.7.1 (sha-verified) + rizin +
objdump/gdb/pwndbg + Binwalk 3.1 / Unblob 26.6 + Apktool 3.0.2+ + tshark +
adb + Wakaru + WABT; `prlimit` present; `config/env.defaults` paths all
exist (healthcheck green); one real decompile proven.
- [ ] **[v2]** `mcp.rea` runs with the `compact` schema profile in re-box.
- [ ] re-box wire-up: `rea setup` + plugin + bundled skills + operator-memory; a
non-interactive `rea_readiness` run returns a non-zero `rea_` tool count.
- [ ] re-box complementary MCP (ReVa, DIE) installed or documented as build-arg
opt-in.
- [ ] `opencode-rea` gates all green; `re-box` `docker build` + `smoke.sh` exit 0.
- [ ] `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md` lists every ported skill set with license + commit.
- [ ] Two PRs open on `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf`, each with the fixed body
format; `docs/NOTES.md` present in both repos.

# M0 — Load-spike discovery log
Date: 2026-10-17. Branch: `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf`.
Worktree: `/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea/.worktrees/m0-spike` (tracking `origin/main @ e337e39`).
Spec: `docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md` §6 M0, reconciled against §4 (Verified facts).
## Spike 1 — plugin loads in the real CLI
Commands (all in the worktree):
```
$ bun install
bun install v1.4.2 (744846f84)
...
+ @opencode/[email protected]
+ @opencode/[email protected]
+ @opencode/[email protected]
+ @types/[email protected]
+ [email protected]
+ [email protected]
532 packages installed [3.66s]
```
```
$ bun run build
$ tsc -p tsconfig.build.json
(exit 0; emits dist/index.js)
```
Root `index.js` re-export present (verbatim):
```js
export { default } from "./dist/index.js";
export * from "./dist/index.js";
```
```
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/e2e/smoke.test.ts
bun test v1.4.2 (744846f84)
test/e2e/smoke.test.ts:
[live-model behaviour unverified] smoke proving built plugin loads in real CLI
[live-model behaviour unverified] smoke exit: 0
1 pass
0 fail
6 expect() calls
Ran 1 test across 1 file. [2.26s]
EXIT_CODE=0
```
The passing test asserts exit 0, `SMOKE-READY` on stdout, a non-empty
fixture request log, and the **absence** of `LoadError` / `Plugin must export`
in server stderr — i.e. the built plugin loads. Matches §4.2.
## Spike 2 — `rea setup` in a throwaway HOME
Exact isolation env (nothing else overridden; `PATH`/etc. inherited):
```
SPIKE_HOME=$(mktemp -d /tmp/opencode-m0-spike-XXXXXX) # -> /tmp/opencode-m0-spike-qoa12s
mkdir -p "$SPIKE_HOME/home" "$SPIKE_HOME/config"
HOME="$SPIKE_HOME/home" XDG_CONFIG_HOME="$SPIKE_HOME/config" \
OPENCODE_CONFIG_DIR="$SPIKE_HOME/config" \
node_modules/.bin/rea setup --client opencode --yes
```
Result: exit 0. A re-run in the same env reports the opencode client
`state: aligned` (idempotent).
Written file — `$SPIKE_HOME/config/opencode.json` (note: `rea setup`
honoured `OPENCODE_CONFIG_DIR`, writing `$SPIKE_HOME/config/opencode.json`
rather than `$HOME/.config/opencode/opencode.json`):
```json
{
"mcp": {
"rea": {
"type": "local",
"command": [
"/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea/.worktrees/m0-spike/node_modules/.bin/rea",
"mcp"
],
"enabled": true
}
}
}
```
This is exactly the shape §4.3 specifies
(`"mcp": { "rea": { "type": "local", "command": [..., "mcp"], "enabled": true } }`).
Skill side-effect (confirms §4.3 second sentence): the setup also installed
`reverse-engineer-anything` into the isolated home:
```
$ ls "$SPIKE_HOME/home/.agents/skills/"
reverse-engineer-anything
```
Real-user-config safety: the user's real `~/.config/opencode/opencode.json`
was untouched (mtime still `Oct 15 20:34`, two days before this spike).
## Toolchain versions
```
$ node_modules/.bin/opencode --version
opencode v2.0.26 # matches §3 pin exactly
$ node --version
v26.10.0 # see discrepancy D1 below
$ node_modules/.bin/rea --version
6.5.0 # matches §4.5 rea-agents pin
$ bun --version
1.4.2
```
## Discrepancies vs Section 4 (reconciled, none blocking)
- **D1 — Node major differs from §3.** §3 says `node --version` should print
`v22.x (>=22.19)`. This machine has `v26.10.0`. Reconciliation: §4.4 states
REA needs `^22.19 || ^24.11 || >=26`; v26.10.0 satisfies that range, and
`rea doctor --client opencode --json` (run with the real home, informational)
reports `"name":"node","ok":true,"classification":"healthy","detail":"26.10.0"`.
Both spikes pass on v26, so M0 is green. re-box (M4) still pins Node 22 per
the Dockerfile spec — this observation does not change that.
- **D2 — Local Ghidra is 12.1.2, not the §4.4 pinned 12.1.4.** `rea doctor`
reports `ghidra-version: 12.1.2; compatible 12.1.x release (verified build
12.1.4)` at `/home/john/.local/ghidra`. Informational only: M0 requires no
engines, and M5 pins `Ghidra_12.1.4_build` for re-box regardless.
- **D3 — Engine auto-detection is NOT HOME-isolated.** Even under the throwaway
`HOME`, the `rea setup` provider inspection referenced the real
`/home/john/.local/ghidra` (absolute well-known-path probing), and the
inherited `JAVA_HOME` (an Android Studio flatpak JBR) leaked into the
`ghidra-java` check, which doctor flags `missing_dependency` (JBR is not a
full JDK 21+). Isolation covered *config writes* (proven by the untouched
real `opencode.json`) but not *engine search paths*. Lesson for re-box/M5:
engine paths must be set explicitly via absolute `REA_*` env vars
(which is already the plan in `config/env.defaults`); never rely on
HOME-relative discovery. No spec change needed — recorded here.
- **D4 — `rea doctor` healthy=false on this dev machine.** Causes: missing
JADX/IDA config (expected — caller-supplied per §4.4), the JBR JAVA_HOME
(D3), and `skill:identity` missing in the real home. All out of M0 scope;
none contradicts §4.
API lookups needed: none. M0 required no `@opencode/plugin` type lookups;
no new code was written.
## M0 acceptance verdict
- [x] `opencode --version` prints `opencode v2.0.26`.
- [x] Smoke test prints `1 pass`, exit code 0.
- [x] Throwaway-HOME `opencode.json` contains the exact `mcp.rea` local-command block.
- [x] Both observations written here in `docs/NOTES.md`; discrepancies D1–D4
reconciled against §4 above (D1 against the §4.4 Node range + doctor
evidence). No stop-and-reconcile blocker: nothing contradicts §4.

# M1 — Bootstrap runner discovery log
Date: 2026-10-17/18 (UTC 2026-10-18 ~00:0x). Branch: `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf`.
Worktree: `/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea/.worktrees/m0-spike`.
Spec: `docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md` §6 M1.
## M1.1 — `src/bootstrap.ts` port
Ported from `unity.gamedev.kit/src/bootstrap.ts` (read in full) + `src/v2.ts`
(tool-registration shape, reference only — M1 adds no tool yet) +
`src/shared.ts` (SKILL_PACKS shape reference; REA packs defined fresh, no
Unity packs copied). Only `node:child_process` (`spawn`, `spawnSync`),
no `node:fs`/`node:path` use needed (`void cwd` keeps the `reaBootstrapSteps`
signature honest without fake filesystem probes). No new runtime dependencies
(`package.json` untouched; `@opencode/plugin` stays peer+dev).
Exact spec signatures implemented verbatim (`src/bootstrap.ts`):
- `BootstrapOptions { installSkills?; installMemory?; installWorkflows? }`
- `StepResult { label; status: "ok"|"failed"|"skipped"; detail }`
- `BootstrapStep { label, command, args, skip? }` (skip returns reason or undefined)
- `reaBootstrapSteps(cwd, o?)`, `runCommand(command, args, {cwd, signal?, timeoutMs?})`,
`runBootstrap(cwd, o?, {signal?, onStep?})`, `formatResults(results)`
Step labels in exact order (asserted in test):
1. `Skill pack p4nda0s/reverse-skills` — `npx -y skills@latest add p4nda0s/reverse-skills --agent opencode --yes`
2. `Skill pack ljagiello/ctf-skills` — same shape
3. `Skill pack cyberkaida/reverse-engineering-assistant` — same shape
4. `Skill pack rehan-remade/universal-modder` — same shape
5. `Operator Helper CLI` — `npm install --global @aerovato/operator-helper@latest`
6. `Operator Helper for OpenCode V2` — `operator-helper install opencode-v2`
7. `OpenCode Workflows plugin` — `opencode plugin add @rphang/opencode-workflows`
with a `skip` guard (`workflowsSkipReason()`, exported): probes
`opencode --version` via `spawnSync` (15 s timeout, Windows shell parity);
returns a skip reason when the CLI is missing/unparseable (fail closed —
no doomed install). A parseable version proceeds; sandbox-level
incompatibility then surfaces as a step failure (see M1.3).
`runCommand` parity with the Unity kit: no TTY (`stdio: ignore/pipe/pipe`),
`CI=1 NO_COLOR=1 FORCE_COLOR=0`, Windows `.cmd` shim quoting + `shell: true`,
300 s default timeout, output tailed to ~1500 bytes (buffer capped at
`TAIL*4` during collection). `runBootstrap` checks `signal.throwIfAborted()`
per step, honors `skip`, wires `onStep(label, i, total)`, records
`$ cmd args` + tail in `detail`, and rethrows on abort. `formatResults`
renders `[OK]`/`[FAILED]`/`[SKIPPED]` summary lines plus a `Failure output:`
section (failures only; skipped reasons stay on the summary line).
## M1.2 — unit tests
`test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts` (9 tests), run as:
```
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts
bun test v1.4.2 (744846f84)
9 pass
0 fail
32 expect() calls
Ran 9 tests across 1 file. [167.00ms]
```
Covers the three acceptance assertions (exact labels in order;
`installSkills:false` drops exactly the four skill steps; `formatResults`
renders `[OK]`/`[FAILED]`/`[SKIPPED]`) plus: exact pack commands, the
workflows `skip` presence, `installMemory:false`/`installWorkflows:false`
drops, failure-append vs clean-summary `formatResults` shapes, `runCommand`
exit-code/output capture and tail bound, and `runBootstrap`
all-disabled → `[]` (no network touched — the only `runCommand` tests use
local `echo`/`node -e`).
```
$ bun run check # tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.json → exit 0
$ bun run build # tsc -p tsconfig.build.json → exit 0 (dist/index.js emitted)
```
## M1.3 — workflows-load fact (Not-verified item 1): FAILS on 2.0.32
Question: does `@rphang/opencode-workflows` (upstream pinned to opencode
2.0.15) load and run under `@opencode/[email protected]`? Answer: **NO — it fails
to load on 2.0.32; it loads on its pinned 2.0.15.** All scratch work in
`/tmp/opencode/wf-check` (2.0.32) and `/tmp/opencode/wf-2015` (2.0.15
control); the repo and the real `~/.config/opencode/opencode.json` were
never touched (`grep -c rphang ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json` → `0`).
Registry facts:
```
$ npm view @rphang/opencode-workflows version dist-tags
version = '0.2.0' # latest; only releases are 0.1.0, 0.2.0 — no newer fix exists
$ npm view @rphang/opencode-workflows dependencies peerDependencies engines
dependencies = { ajv, acorn, effect: '4.0.0-rc.112', '@opencode/codemode': '2.0.15' }
peerDependencies = { '@opencode/plugin': '2.0.15' }
engines = { opencode: '2.0.15' }
```
Install step (the exact M1 bootstrap command) works on both CLIs, fully
isolated (`HOME`/`XDG_*`/`OPENCODE_CONFIG_DIR` under the scratch dir):
```
$ ./node_modules/.bin/opencode --version
opencode v2.0.32
$ ./node_modules/.bin/opencode plugin add @rphang/opencode-workflows
Plugin "@rphang/opencode-workflows" installed and added to /tmp/opencode/wf-check/config/opencode.json
EXIT=0
```
(The package lands in `<cache>/opencode/npm/@rphang/opencode-workflows@latest/<ts>/node_modules/…`.)
Load probe: minimal loopback OpenAI-compatible fixture (`fixture.mjs`,
answers title probes + one text line) + `opencode run --standalone
--format json --auto --print-logs --model fixture-test/fixture-model`.
2.0.32 result — plugin REFUSED by the host sandbox:
```
timestamp=... level=WARN ... message="failed to load plugin" target=@rphang/opencode-workflows
cause="Cause([Die(Error: Cannot load \"effect/dist/unstable/http/index.js\"
from plugin node_modules: \"effect/dist/unstable/http/index.js\" is not
provided by OpenCode; plugins must use the host's \"effect\" and
\"@opencode/plugin\" modules.)])" role=server
```
2.0.15 control — plugin LOADS (same probe shape, provider block rewritten
to the 2.0.15 `provider:` schema after a `configuration normalization
diagnostic … kind=invalid` told us `providers:`+`settings:` is rejected there):
```
$ grep -c "failed to load plugin" run-stderr2.log
0
$ grep -c "WORKFLOWS-LOAD-PROBE-OK" run-stdout2.jsonl
11
```
(`EXIT=1` on both runs is a fixture artifact, not a product signal: the
minimal fixture omits `finish_reason` on the terminal stream chunk, so the
host reports `provider.invalid-output … stream ended without finish_reason`
*after* delivering the model text. The repo's `test/support/model-fixture.ts`
emits the finish chunk correctly; the scratch fixture was throwaway.)
Root-cause chain (all paths inside the scratch cache):
- `@rphang/[email protected]/dist/index.js` → bundled
`@opencode/[email protected]` → `dist/openapi/{runtime,types,index}.js`
contain `import { HttpClient[,…] } from "effect/unstable/http"`.
- The 2.0.32 plugin sandbox does not provide that `effect` subpath, so the
plugin dies at load. The 2.0.15 host provides it (pinned peer), so it loads.
## Discrepancy vs Section 4 (new)
- **D5 — Not-verified item 1 resolves NEGATIVE.** `@rphang/opencode-workflows`
does not load under `@opencode/[email protected]` (sandbox rejects its bundled
`effect/dist/unstable/http` via `@opencode/[email protected]`; no newer
plugin release exists). Per §6 M1 / §7.6: **fall back to REA's own
subagent delegation for bounded fan-out; do not depend on (or block the
build on) opencode-workflows.** The `OpenCode Workflows plugin` bootstrap
step stays (guarded by its version-probe `skip`), and M2 must treat a
workflows-install failure as non-fatal. Nothing else in §4 changes.
## M1 acceptance verdict
- [x] `test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts` asserts exact labels in order,
`installSkills:false` drops the four skill steps,
`formatResults` renders `[OK]`/`[FAILED]`/`[SKIPPED]`.
- [x] `bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts` → all pass (9/9).
- [x] Workflows-load fact verified in `/tmp` scratch and recorded here (D5: fails on 2.0.32, loads on pinned 2.0.15; fallback = REA subagent delegation, build not blocked).

# M2 — `rea_bootstrap_stack` tool + `/rea-bootstrap` command discovery log
Date: 2026-10-18 (UTC). Branch: `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf`.
Worktree: `/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea/.worktrees/m0-spike`.
Spec: `docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md` §6 M2 + §4.1 (tool transform editor
shapes, permission assert), §7, §5 layout. CLI pin stays 2.0.26 (no bump).
## M2.1 — `ctx.permission.assert` availability probe (new discrepancy D6)
§4.1/§6-M2 say to call `ctx.permission.assert(...)` before running, citing
`unity.gamedev.kit/src/v2.ts`. But `@opencode/[email protected]` types declare no
`assert`: `dist/promise/permission.d.ts` is
`Pick<PermissionApi, "list" | "get" | "reply"> & { hook }`, and the bundled
`@opencode/[email protected]` generated permission API has only
`request/saved/create/list/get/reply` — no `assert` anywhere in the package.
The Unity kit targets `@opencode/[email protected]`, so the reference may postdate
our pin. Verified empirically with a scratch probe plugin (tool returning
`typeof ctx.permission.assert` + `Object.keys(ctx.permission)`, driven by the
real CLI + fixture model, scratch deleted afterwards):
- 2.0.26 (`node_modules/.bin/opencode`, `opencode v2.0.26`):
`{"typeofAssert":"undefined","permissionKeys":["hook","list","get","reply"]}`
- 2.0.32 (`/tmp/opencode/wf-check/node_modules/.bin/opencode`, `opencode v2.0.32`):
`{"typeofAssert":"function","permissionKeys":["hook","list","get","reply","assert"]}`
## Discrepancy vs Section 4 (new)
- **D6 — `permission.assert` does not exist on the pinned 2.0.26 host; it was
added by 2.0.32.** Calling it unconditionally would throw
`TypeError: not a function` at runtime on our pin. Design (fail-closed per
Agency rules): `src/bootstrap-tool.ts` `readPermissionAssert()` calls the
host capability when present and otherwise throws a descriptive error
refusing to run installs without approval. Nothing proceeds unapproved on
any host. re-box (2.0.32) gates normally. Build not blocked.
## M2.2 — implementation
File placement: new `src/bootstrap-tool.ts` (thin; reuses the M1 runner —
no `node:fs`/`node:path`, no new runtime deps, no `ctx.mcp.transform`).
`src/index.ts` `setup()` registers it after readiness; `src/commands.ts`
gains `/rea-bootstrap`; `src/readiness.ts` + `src/bootstrap.ts` adjusted
(see below). Exports added to `src/index.ts` for tests/docs-guard.
- Tool registration mirrors `gamedev_bootstrap_stack`:
`editor.add({ name: "rea_bootstrap_stack", input: { installSkills?,
installMemory?, installWorkflows? } booleans, additionalProperties: false,
options: { codemode: false } })`. `execute` calls `readPermissionAssert`
with `{ sessionID, agent, source: { type: "tool", messageID, id }, action:
"rea_bootstrap_stack", resources: [directory], save: ["*"] }` **before**
`runBootstrap(...)` with `onStep` wired to `context.progress`, then
`await ctx.skill.reload()`. Returns `{ content, metadata: { results } }`.
- D5 (workflows failure non-fatal): `runBootstrap` already records step
failures instead of throwing; the tool additionally appends an explicit
fallback note via `withWorkflowsFallbackNote()` when the workflows step is
not `ok` ("bounded fan-out falls back to REA's own subagent delegation").
New shared const `WORKFLOWS_STEP_LABEL` in `src/bootstrap.ts` (value
unchanged, M1 unit assertions untouched).
- New-tool fallout in `src/readiness.ts`: the plugin's own
`rea_bootstrap_stack` matches the `rea_` prefix, so without an exclusion it
would inflate the MCP-only `reaToolCount` (T08/T10 hermetic `0` broke: got
1) and a global `codemode` option would clobber its direct mode. Added
`PLUGIN_OWN_TOOL_NAMES = { rea_readiness, rea_bootstrap_stack }` skipping it
in `countReaToolsByMode` and in the `applyReaToolCatalogPolicy` codemode
loop. `test/unit/readiness.test.ts` extended with a bootstrap entry (counts
unchanged).
- `/rea-bootstrap` (`COMMAND_IDS` + definition): prompt tells the agent to
call `rea_bootstrap_stack` (passing requested flags), then `rea_readiness`,
and report per-step results + readiness summary + the workflows-fallback
note when applicable. No agent switch. `test/unit/commands.test.ts` and
`test/integration/commands.test.ts` exact lists updated to the four
commands; `test/unit/options.test.ts` setup stub gains the host-guaranteed
`location` (unity kit relies on `ctx.location.directory` too).
- Docs: `README.md` gains a `/rea-bootstrap` row ("three" → "four") and a
"Bootstrap tool: `rea_bootstrap_stack`" section (flags, permission gate +
D6 host note, workflows non-fatal + D5 note, `codemode: false`,
`{ content, metadata: { results } }`, `ctx.skill.reload()`).
`test/unit/docs.test.ts` extended: `"rea-bootstrap"` in the command-id
loop + a dedicated test asserting README tokens and `src/bootstrap-tool.ts`
markers (`permission.assert`, `ctx.skill.reload`, `runBootstrap`,
`codemode`).
## M2.3 — live gating evidence (real hosts, built plugin, scratch tests deleted)
Zero-step calls (`installSkills/installMemory/installWorkflows: false`, so no
command ever runs) driven by the real CLI + fixture model:
- 2.0.26 + `--auto`: `tool_use` `status: "error"`,
`error: "rea_bootstrap_stack: host permission.assert is unavailable —
refusing to run installs without approval. ..."` — fail-closed, exit 0.
- 2.0.32 + `--auto`: `tool_use` `status: "completed"`,
`metadata: { results: [], ... }`, `output: ""` — host `assert` approved the
call end to end.
- 2.0.32 without `--auto`: `status: "completed"` as well (standalone-run
host policy auto-resolves the programmatic assert; the user-facing denial
path — assert rejects → execute rejects before any install — is proven
deterministically in `test/integration/bootstrap.test.ts` via an injected
rejecting assert, plus the D6 fail-closed path via an assert-less host).
Recorded as observed; host approval policy is not this plugin's logic.
## M2.4 — test evidence
```
$ bun run check # tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.json → exit 0
$ bun run build # tsc -p tsconfig.build.json → exit 0
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit test/integration
126 pass, 0 fail, 2737 expect() calls, 22 files
```
Includes new `test/integration/bootstrap.test.ts` (6 tests: tool listed
after `setup()` with `codemode: false` + closed boolean schema; denial
rejects with exact assert shape `{ action: "rea_bootstrap_stack",
resources: [directory], save: ["*"] }` and no reload; approved all-false run
returns `metadata.results: []` + one `skill.reload()`; assert-less host
refuses via `/permission\.assert/`; D5 note only on non-ok workflows;
`COMMAND_IDS` contains `rea-bootstrap`, no `":"`, command prompt names both
tools).
## M2 acceptance verdict
- [x] `test/integration/bootstrap.test.ts`: after `setup()`,
`ctx.tool.list()` includes `rea_bootstrap_stack`; calling it without
approval is rejected (permission asserted with the exact spec shape);
`COMMAND_IDS` includes `rea-bootstrap` and contains no `":"`.
- [x] `bun run check` passes.
`bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit test/integration`
→ all pass (126/126).
- [x] `docs.test.ts` (extended) confirms README documents the new tool and
command (fails without the README section).
- [x] Workflows failure handled non-fatal (D5 note helper + unit-covered;
step failures never throw out of `runBootstrap`).

# M3 — Agent-prompt upgrades discovery log
Date: 2026-10-18 (UTC). Branch: `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf`.
Worktree: `/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea/.worktrees/m0-spike`.
Spec: `docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md` §6 M3 + §4.4b (WASM routing rule) + §8.
## M3.1 — `agents/rea.md` edits (prompt only, no code)
Added three short sections after `## Reporting`, consistent with the
existing observations/inferences/unknowns discipline (no contradiction):
- `## Checkpoint/resume` — before a long/branching step, write a one-line
resume capsule (target identity, open Evidence IDs, question in flight) so
a cold session can continue; capsule is a pointer, not evidence.
- `## Challenger branch` — when the leading hypothesis is weakly supported,
spin one bounded alternate (one question, one entry point, disconfirming
evidence type) before committing; record both in the ledger.
- `## WASM routing` — `open_binary` refuses WASM
(`wasm_requires_static_inspection`); route `.wasm` to
`inspect_wasm_artifact` (or `rea inspect-wasm-artifact <path> --format
json`), static only, WABT 1.0.42 via `REA_WABT_BIN_DIRECTORY`.
Source: `rea/docs/wasm-artifacts.md:7-11`.
Borrowed Goblin-D.M.T. discipline ideas only; no dependency added.
Frontmatter `description` untouched; no `src/` changes, so
permission/effects behaviour is unchanged by construction. Body avoids the
literal `description:` token (keeps the no-frontmatter-leakage test green).
## M3.2 — test evidence
```
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/agents.test.ts
30 pass, 0 fail, 406 expect() calls
$ bun run check # tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.json → exit 0
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/docs.test.ts
6 pass, 0 fail
```
## M3 acceptance verdict
- [x] `agents.test.ts` still passes (file parses, non-empty `description`
frontmatter + body).
- [x] `rea.md` gains checkpoint/resume + challenger-branch sections and the
WASM routing rule.
- [x] Permission/effects tests unchanged (no `src/` edits).

# M3b — Target-integrity edit guard discovery log
Date: 2026-10-18 (UTC). Branch: `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf`.
Worktree: `/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea/.worktrees/m0-spike`.
Spec: `docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md` §6 M3b (exact deny list) + §7 + §8.
## M3b.1 — implementation (no second hook, effect-gating untouched)
- `src/options.ts`: exposed `protectTargets?: boolean` (default `true`).
`KNOWN_KEYS` gains `"protectTargets"`; non-boolean fails with
`invalid plugin option "protectTargets"`; `parseOptions(undefined|null|{})`
returns `protectTargets: true`. Guard checks `options.protectTargets !== false`,
so `undefined` (older callers) stays enabled — fail closed.
- `src/agents.ts`: added `getProtectedTargetReason()` /
`isProtectedTargetPath()` + `findProtectedTargetResource()` (checks both
`event.resource` and `event.resources[]`). `evaluateAgentPermission()` runs the
guard first — for **every** agent, before any effect-gating logic — denying
`action === "edit"` on a protected target with
`Permission denied: edit of "<path>" is blocked by target-integrity guard (<reason>).`
`protectTargets: false` skips only the guard. Existing specialist
(`rea-analyst`/`rea-auditor`/`rea-runtime`) and `runtime` gating untouched.
- Single hook preserved: `registerAgents()` still calls
`ctx.permission.hook("evaluate", …)` exactly once (asserted in test). Removed
the `if (!isKnownAgentId(event.agent)) return` early-return so the guard runs
for unknown agents too; the `ctx.agent.get` tail-override lookup stays
known-agent-only. `src/index.ts` re-exports the two helpers.
Deny coverage (case-sensitive dirs, case-insensitive extensions/names):
`targets/|fixtures/|captures/|ghidra_projects/|`.rea/` as any path segment;
any segment ending `.rep`; basename `*.rea.backup*` (contains `.rea.backup`),
`*.bundle.json`, `.env*` except exact `.env.example`,
`\.(gpr|idb|i64|hop|rzdb|bndb|apk|ipa|asar|pcap|pcapng|core|dmp|wasm)$`,
`\.(pem|key|pfx|p12|keystore|jks)$`, `id_rsa*`/`id_ed25519*` prefix.
## M3b.2 — test evidence
```
$ bun run check # tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.json → exit 0
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/guard.test.ts
48 pass, 0 fail
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit test/integration
174 pass, 0 fail, 2998 expect() calls, 23 files
```
`test/unit/guard.test.ts` (48 tests): per-path deny table (each dir, each of
the 14 binary/capture extensions, `*.rep/`, `*.rea.backup*`, `*.bundle.json`,
`.env*`, each secret extension, each key prefix) via `evaluateAgentPermission`
with `agent: "rea"`; singular-`resource` + unknown-agent fail-closed rows;
non-`edit` action untouched; allows for `src/x.ts`,
`openspec/changes/a/proposal.md`, `.env.example`; `protectTargets:false` allows
every denied path; `parseOptions` default/validation; single-hook assertion
plus live hook-handler deny for an unknown agent.
`test/unit/options.test.ts` updated for the new `protectTargets: true` default.
## M3b acceptance verdict
- [x] Guard table covers each deny case + the three allows; `protectTargets:false`
allows all.
- [x] `bun run check` and
`bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit test/integration` pass.

### Deliberately NOT vendored
- `review/reverse-skill` (`zhaoxuya520/reverse-skill`, MIT, 89 skills,
`cab634bd855fc287f6e420c1f36fd1a6b9245960`) and

`54a798831d2266a3ca61ce68a7acb80b81160d57`): on demand via `npx skills add`
only, never vendored.
- `review/reverse-skill/CTF-Sandbox-Orchestrator/LICENSE` first 5 lines:
`GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE` / `Version 3, 29 June 2007` / (blank) /
`Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc. <https://fsf.org/>` /
`Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies` → **GPLv3:
NEVER copy** (Gotcha 18).
- IDA/Hopper: licensed, mount-or-host via `REA_IDA_MCP_CONFIG` /
`HOPPER_LAUNCHER_PATH`; not baked (Gotcha 11).
### Thin-plugin verification (Decision 1)
```
$ ls skills/ # → rea-evidence-report rea-investigation rea-opencode rea-reconstruction (only the 4 rea-* skills)
$ grep -ril 'reverse-engineer-anything' skills/ # → only rea-opencode/SKILL.md mentions it, as a pointer ("use that skill for target…"), not a shadow registration
$ grep -n SKILL_IDS src/skills.ts # → 4 ids, unchanged; no SKILL_IDS edit in this stage
```
No skill files vendored into `skills/` in this stage.
### Packaging note (`package.json` `files` list)
`package.json` `"files"` is `["dist", "skills", "agents", "index.js"]` — the
new root `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md` is **not** in the published tarball file
list. Per the stage spec it stays at the repo root (as §5/§8 require); the
publish list is left untouched so `docs.test.ts` (README/package identity)
and the release footprint do not change. If attribution must ship inside the
npm tarball, add `"THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md"` to `files` in a later stage and
re-run the docs guard.
## M8 — validation pass (2026-10-18 UTC)
Branch: `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf` (6 commits ahead of `origin/main`:
`05f1eca` M0 … `0b729f4` M3c). Worktree:
`/home/john/Projects/RE/opencode-rea/.worktrees/m0-spike` (clean —
`git status --short` empty at validation time). Spec:
`docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PROMPT.md` §6 M8 + §8 Definition of done (opencode-rea
items). No code changes needed this milestone: every gate below passed on
the as-built tree, so this entry is the only change.
### Gates (exact commands + observed output)
```
$ bun run check # tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.json
$ tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.json
(exit 0, no output)
```
```
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit test/integration
```
```
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/e2e/smoke.test.ts
[live-model behaviour unverified] smoke exit: 0
0 fail
6 expect() calls
```
### §8 Definition-of-done check (opencode-rea items)
- M0 spikes re-run, observations in NOTES: yes (`docs(m0)` commit `05f1eca`,
§M0 entry above matches §4: `opencode v2.0.26`, smoke `1 pass`, `opencode.json`
`mcp.rea` block).
- `src/bootstrap.ts` ported, unit tests pass, workflows-load fact recorded:
yes (M1 entry; `test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts` green inside the 174).
- `rea_bootstrap_stack` + `/rea-bootstrap` registered, permission-gated,
integration + docs tests pass: yes (M2 entry; `test/integration/bootstrap.test.ts`
+ `docs.test.ts` green inside the 174).
- `rea` prompt gains checkpoint/resume + challenger-branch + WASM routing,
agent tests still pass: verified live this milestone —
`agents/rea.md:49 ## Checkpoint/resume`, `:59 ## Challenger branch`,
`:68 ## WASM routing` (routes `.wasm` to `inspect_wasm_artifact`, static
only, WABT 1.0.42); `test/unit/agents.test.ts` green inside the 174.
- Target-integrity edit guard + `protectTargets` + guard table: yes (M3b entry;
`test/unit/guard.test.ts` green inside the 174; `protectTargets:true` default).
- `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md` lists every ported set with license + commit: yes
(M3c commit `0b729f4`; 4 on-demand packs, GPL `CTF-Sandbox-Orchestrator`
explicitly excluded, no NOTICE file upstream for ReVa).
- `docs/NOTES.md` exists with every discovery/discrepancy: this file.
- No PR template in this repo (`find`: no hits outside `node_modules`), so the
fixed §6 body format is used verbatim for the PR.
- Gotcha re-check: no `ctx.mcp.transform` in plugin setup, no `review/`
edits, no `effect`/`@opencode/plugin` runtime deps, opencode-rea pin still
2.0.26 (only re-box moves to 2.0.32) — all hold; `bun run check` + the 174
would fail otherwise.
No blockers. 3x-fail budget untouched (0 failures this milestone).

# Review-fix (opencode-rea PR #5): zero-step approval, skip reasons, workflows guard
Date: 2026-10-18 (UTC). Branch: `claude/project-thread-gnv9zf` (@ 1735ac1,
in sync with origin). Worktree clean at start (`git status --short` empty).
All three review findings verified against current code and fixed minimally —
no new runtime deps, no `ctx.mcp.transform`, no `review/` edits.
## (a) Zero-step calls rejected on hosts without `permission.assert` — VALID, fixed
Evidence: `readPermissionAssert` threw before `runBootstrap` for every call,
and the pinned host lacks the capability —
`node_modules/.bin/opencode --version` → `opencode v2.0.26`;
`grep -c assert node_modules/@opencode/plugin/dist/promise/permission.d.ts` → `0`
(the type is `Pick<PermissionApi, "list"|"get"|"reply"> & { hook }`; `assert`
exists only on 2.0.32 per D6). A zero-step call
(`installSkills/installMemory/installWorkflows: false`) performs no installs —
only `ctx.skill.reload()` — so refusing it bought no safety.
Fix (`src/bootstrap-tool.ts` `execute`): compute
`reaBootstrapSteps(directory, args)` first (import added); skip the
`readPermissionAssert` gate only when the step list is empty. Any non-zero
install set still asserts first and still refuses with the `permission.assert`
message when the capability is missing (fail-closed preserved).
Tests: existing D6 fail-closed test untouched in behaviour (default input =
7 steps → still rejects); the approved zero-step test's
`expect(cap.asserted).toHaveLength(1)` was wrong under the fix (gate is
skipped, so nothing is asserted) → changed to `0`; new test: zero-step on an
assert-less host succeeds with `results: []` + one `skill.reload()`.
## (b) `formatResults` hid skipped detail — VALID, fixed
Evidence: summary line was `[SKIPPED] <label>` with no reason, and the unit
test asserted `expect(out).not.toContain("opencode CLI not runnable")`,
actively pinning the information loss.
Fix (`src/bootstrap.ts` `formatResults`): skipped lines now read
`[SKIPPED] <label> — <detail>`; `[OK]`/`[FAILED]` marks and labels unchanged,
and the `Failure output:` dump still covers failures only.
The old `not.toContain` assertion was wrong because an operator triaging a
skipped workflows step could not see why without digging into raw results —
changed to `toContain` the reason. `withWorkflowsFallbackNote` untouched
(still keys off `results[].status`, not the formatted string).
## (c) Version guard treated any parseable version as workflows-compatible — VALID, fixed
Evidence: `workflowsSkipReason` returned `undefined` (do the install) for any
output matching `/opencode\s+v?\d+\.\d+\.\d+/i`; D5 proves 2.0.32 fails to load
(`Cannot load effect/dist/unstable/http` sandbox rejection) while only the
pinned 2.0.15 loads (upstream `engines: { opencode: 2.0.15 }`, no newer plugin
release). A parseable-but-broken version therefore led straight into a doomed
install.
Fix (`src/bootstrap.ts`): extracted pure
`workflowsSkipReasonForVersionText(text)` — `2.0.15` → `undefined` (proceed);
any other parseable version → skip reason naming the detected version and the
supported 2.0.15 line with the D5 fallback pointer; unparseable →
existing fail-closed reason. `workflowsSkipReason()` keeps the sync `spawnSync`
probe (no network) and delegates to it. Pure-function shape keeps the new unit
test (`2.0.15` allow / `2.0.32` + `2.0.26` skip / empty-text skip) free of host
coupling and `spawnSync` mocks.
Note: on the pinned 2.0.26 host the workflows step now skips with a reason
instead of attempting the install — intended fail-closed behaviour; the skip
surfaces via the (b) summary line plus the existing D5 fallback note, and no
existing test relied on the old allow path.
## Validation
```
$ bun run check # tsc --noEmit -p tsconfig.json → exit 0
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit/bootstrap.test.ts
10 pass, 0 fail
$ bun test --path-ignore-patterns 'review/**' test/unit test/integration
176 pass, 0 fail, 3007 expect() calls, 23 files
```
No `.skip`, no deleted tests. 3x-fail budget: 1 transient failure (stale
`asserted` length assertion, fixed by updating the expectation) — no blocker.

Always use the connected server's actual tool list and input schemas; a
skill installed from repository main may describe capabilities absent from
an older npm release.
- Permission actions for REA tools follow the `<sanitized-server>_<tool>`
pattern (`resource: "*"`). The 31 destructive / runtime-effect tools
(scenario captures, interactive Frida/GDB/Rizin debug commands, Cutter
commands, analysis-DB mutations, session teardowns, and ADB mutations) are
gated by the plugin's `runtime` option (`"ask"` | `"allow"` | `"deny"`) on
`rea` and `rea-runtime`, and are always denied on `rea-analyst` and
`rea-auditor`.
- Starting an interactive debugger or Frida session (`start_frida_session`,
`start_gdb_session`) is classified by REA as session setup
(`destructiveHint: false`), while subsequent code-injection or
debug-execution tools (`load_frida_script`, `resume_frida_session`,
`instrument_with_frida`, `gdb_console`, `start_rizin_debug_session`,
`rizin_debug_command`, `execute_rizin_command`, `cutter_command`) and
teardown tools (`close_gdb_session`, `close_rizin_debug_session`,
`close_binary`) carry runtime-effect gating.
- If a call is blocked by client policy, do not repeat it unchanged. Client
approval, shell PATH, registration, and engine availability each have
different remedies; diagnose the observed blocker and resume the original
task after repair.
## Code Mode
## Code Mode and Direct Tool Routing
- Scripted model tool calls route natively in the default config: host tools
execute as themselves (for example `read` executes as `read`, with real
file bytes returned), not through Code Mode `execute`.
- Code Mode `execute`/`search` is the fallback path, not the primary route
for REA analysis tools. Use `search` to discover the exact tool path and
signature first; never guess tool names or call an unadvertised tool.
- Native host tools (`read`, `skill`, `subagent`, and the plugin's own
`rea_readiness` tool) always have `codemode: false` and execute directly as
native tool calls.
- For REA MCP tools (`rea_<tool>`):
- When `codemode: false` is configured (either via plugin option
`{ "codemode": false }` or on `mcp.servers.rea` in `opencode.json`),
every `rea_<tool>` is advertised directly in the model's native tool list.
- Under OpenCode v2's default MCP Code Mode (`codemode: true`), REA MCP
tools are grouped under the `tools.rea` namespace inside `execute`
(`await tools.rea.<tool>(input)`). Primary REA entry-point tools
(`analyze_javascript_application`, `binary_session`,
`inspect_analysis_view`, `inspect_android_package`, `inspect_artifact`,
`inspect_binary_layout`, `inspect_managed_artifact`, `list_unknowns`,
`open_binary`, `record_unknown`) are pinned in the Code Mode catalog
summary; use `search` to discover the exact signature of any additional
REA tool before calling it via `execute`. Never guess tool names or call
an unadvertised tool.
- Installing a skill supplies instructions only. It does not register the
REA MCP server, install analysis engines, or add tools to an already
running agent; prefer an existing `rea` CLI when one is installed.
## Compact-First Views and Large Tool Outputs
- Prefer `detail: "summary"` on first read or inventory calls, then page
specific slices via `inspect_analysis_view` using the retained parent
`evidence_id` rather than requesting full dumps upfront.
- If OpenCode offloads a large MCP response to a `tool-output/tool_*` file,
do not re-run the same analysis tool; page via `inspect_analysis_view` with
the retained `evidence_id` or inspect the targeted keys from the saved
output.
## Commands
- Commands under the `/rea:` namespace are host commands, not MCP tools.
- Plugin slash commands (`/rea`, `/rea-doctor`, `/rea-report`) and REA MCP
prompt commands under the `/rea:` namespace (`rea:investigate_feature`,
`rea:compare_application_versions`, `rea:verify_reconstruction`,
`rea:trace_crash`, `rea:audit_residual_unknowns`,
`rea:prepare_bounded_process_capture`) are host commands, not MCP tools.
Resolve them through the host's actual command list; do not invent command
names beyond the `/rea:` pattern.
names beyond the advertised list.
- Keep command arguments caller-selected (paths, output directories, digests)
and preserve them verbatim through the call.
## Recovery
- Run `rea_readiness` (or `/rea-doctor`) first when REA tools appear missing
or disconnected; it reports live MCP status, total `reaToolCount`, plus
`codemodeToolCount` and `directToolCount` without mutating configuration.
- If REA tools are absent, read the connection-and-recovery guidance from the
upstream skill's references, then continue useful supported work while the
blocker stands.
- Configuration repair starts with a read-only setup plan: show paths,
backups, and skill replacement before applying authorized changes.
- Configuration repair starts with a read-only setup plan
