7ff9661670 Move memory coercion functions from GVN.cpp to VNCoercion.cpp so they can be shared between GVN and NewGVN.
Summary:
These are the functions used to determine when values of loads can be
extracted from stores, etc, and to perform the necessary insertions to
do this. There are no changes to the functions themselves except
reformatting, and one case where memdep was informed of a removed load
(which was pushed into the caller).

94f2e5a1f1 Add PredicateInfo utility and printing pass
Summary:
This patch adds a utility to build extended SSA (see "ABCD: eliminating
array bounds checks on demand"), and an intrinsic to support it. This
is then used to get functionality equivalent to propagateEquality in
GVN, in NewGVN (without having to replace instructions as we go). It
would work similarly in SCCP or other passes. This has been talked
about a few times, so i built a real implementation and tried to
productionize it.

Copies are inserted for operands used in assumes and conditional
branches that are based on comparisons (see below for more)

Every use affected by the predicate is renamed to the appropriate
intrinsic result.

E.g.
%cmp = icmp eq i32 %x, 50
br i1 %cmp, label %true, label %false
true:
ret i32 %x
false:
ret i32 1

will become

%cmp = icmp eq i32, %x, 50
br i1 %cmp, label %true, label %false
true:
; Has predicate info
; branch predicate info { TrueEdge: 1 Comparison: %cmp = icmp eq i32 %x, 50 }
%x.0 = call @llvm.ssa_copy.i32(i32 %x)
ret i32 %x.0
false:
ret i23 1

(you can use -print-predicateinfo to get an annotated-with-predicateinfo dump)

This enables us to easily determine what operations are affected by a
given predicate, and how operations affected by a chain of
predicates.

39c1e3d2d7 [LoopUnroll] Implement profile-based loop peeling
This implements PGO-driven loop peeling.

The basic idea is that when the average dynamic trip-count of a loop is known,
based on PGO, to be low, we can expect a performance win by peeling off the
first several iterations of that loop.
Unlike unrolling based on a known trip count, or a trip count multiple, this
doesn't save us the conditional check and branch on each iteration. However,
it does allow us to simplify the straight-line code we get (constant-folding,
etc.). This is important given that we know that we will usually only hit this
code, and not the actual loop.

This is currently disabled by default.

d84b0f9851 [tsan] Add support for C++ exceptions into TSan (call __tsan_func_exit during unwinding), LLVM part
This adds support for TSan C++ exception handling, where we need to add extra calls to __tsan_func_exit when a function is exitted via exception mechanisms. Otherwise the shadow stack gets corrupted (leaked). This patch moves and enhances the existing implementation of EscapeEnumerator that finds all possible function exit points, and adds extra EH cleanup blocks where needed.

345d21cba1 Make the FunctionComparator of the MergeFunctions pass a stand-alone utility.
This is pure refactoring. NFC.

This change moves the FunctionComparator (together with the GlobalNumberState
utility) in to a separate file so that it can be used by other passes.
For example, the SwiftMergeFunctions pass in the Swift compiler:
https://github.com/apple/swift/blob/master/lib/LLVMPasses/LLVMMergeFunctions.cpp

Details of the change:

*) The big part is just moving code out of MergeFunctions.cpp into FunctionComparator.h/cpp
*) Make FunctionComparator member functions protected (instead of private)
so that a derived comparator class can use them.

Following refactoring helps to share code between the base FunctionComparator
class and a derived class:

*) Add a beginCompare() function
*) Move some basic function property comparisons into a separate function compareSignature()
*) Do the GEP comparison inside cmpOperations() which now has a new
   needToCmpOperands reference parameter

5bd98bf7d6 Add -strip-nonlinetable-debuginfo capability
This adds a new function to DebugInfo.cpp that takes an llvm::Module
as input and removes all debug info metadata that is not directly
needed for line tables, thus effectively stripping all type and
variable information from the module.

The primary motivation for this feature was the bitcode work flow
(cf. http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2016-June/100643.html
for more background). This is not wired up yet, but will be in
subsequent patches. For testing, the new functionality is exposed to
opt with a -strip-nonlinetable-debuginfo option.

The secondary use-case (and one that works right now!) is as a
reduction pass in bugpoint. I added two new bugpoint options
(-disable-strip-debuginfo and -disable-strip-debug-types) to control
the new features. By default it will first attempt to remove all debug
information, then only the type info, and then proceed to hack at any
remaining MDNodes.

Thanks to Adrian Prantl for stewarding this patch!

79f85df65a [StripGCRelocates] New pass to remove gc.relocates added by RS4GC
Summary:
Utility pass to remove gc.relocates created by rewrite statepoints for GC.
With respect to safepoint verification, the IR generated would be incorrect, and cannot run
as such.

This would be a single transformation on the final optimized IR.
The benefit of the pass is for easy analysis when the IRs are 'polluted' by too
many gc.relocates.
Added tests.

test run: All RS4GC tests with -verify option. Local downstream tests on large
IR files. This also works when the pointer being gc.relocated is another
gc.relocate.

fe89a6bcf0 Conditionally eliminate library calls where the result value is not used
Summary:
This pass shrink-wraps a condition to some library calls where the call
result is not used. For example:
   sqrt(val);
 is transformed to
   if (val < 0)
     sqrt(val);
Even if the result of library call is not being used, the compiler cannot
safely delete the call because the function can set errno on error
conditions.
Note in many functions, the error condition solely depends on the incoming
parameter. In this optimization, we can generate the condition can lead to
the errno to shrink-wrap the call. Since the chances of hitting the error
condition is low, the runtime call is effectively eliminated.

These partially dead calls are usually results of C++ abstraction penalty
exposed by inlining. This optimization hits 108 times in 19 C/C++ programs
in SPEC2006.

d7e3771d59 Added ThinLTO inlining statistics
Summary:
copypasta doc of ImportedFunctionsInliningStatistics class
\brief Calculate and dump ThinLTO specific inliner stats.
 The main statistics are:
 (1) Number of inlined imported functions,
 (2) Number of imported functions inlined into importing module (indirect),
 (3) Number of non imported functions inlined into importing module
 (indirect).
The difference between first and the second is that first stat counts
all performed inlines on imported functions, but the second one only the
functions that have been eventually inlined to a function in the importing
module (by a chain of inlines). Because llvm uses bottom-up inliner, it is
possible to e.g. import function `A`, `B` and then inline `B` to `A`,
and after this `A` might be too big to be inlined into some other function
that calls it. It calculates this statistic by building graph, where
the nodes are functions, and edges are performed inlines and then by marking
the edges starting from not imported function.

If `Verbose` is set to true, then it also dumps statistics
per each inlined function, sorted by the greatest inlines count like
 - number of performed inlines
 - number of performed inlines to importing module

35c163020a Transform: add SymbolRewriter pass
This introduces the symbol rewriter. This is an IR->IR transformation that is
implemented as a CodeGenPrepare pass. This allows for the transparent
adjustment of the symbols during compilation.

It provides a clean, simple, elegant solution for symbol inter-positioning. This
technique is often used, such as in the various sanitizers and performance
analysis.

The control of this is via a custom YAML syntax map file that indicates source
to destination mapping, so as to avoid having the compiler to know the exact
details of the source to destination transformations.

3a5b1043d0 Teach GlobalDCE how to remove empty global_ctor entries.
This moves most of GlobalOpt's constructor optimization
code out of GlobalOpt into Transforms/Utils/CDtorUtils.{h,cpp}. The
public interface is a single function OptimizeGlobalCtorsList() that
takes a predicate returning which constructors to remove.

GlobalOpt calls this with a function that statically evaluates all
constructors, just like it did before. This part of the change is
behavior-preserving.

Also add a call to this from GlobalDCE with a filter that removes global
constructors that contain a "ret" instruction and nothing else – this
fixes PR19590.

f05b45fdb2 Pass to emit DWARF path discriminators.
DWARF discriminators are used to distinguish multiple control flow paths
on the same source location. When this happens, instructions across
basic block boundaries will share the same debug location.

This pass detects this situation and creates a new lexical scope to one
of the two instructions. This lexical scope is a child scope of the
original and contains a new discriminator value. This discriminator is
then picked up from MCObjectStreamer::EmitDwarfLocDirective to be
written on the object file.

The frames indeed become more compact, but I'll still need to run more benchmarks

This change will be accompanied by a trivial change in compiler-rt tests

and using it in Internalize.

b1a429fd1c Sink the AddressingModeMatcher helper class into an anonymous namespace
next to its only user. This helper relies on TargetLowering information
that shouldn't be generally used throughout the Transfoms library, and
so it made little sense as a generic utility.

This also consolidates the file where we need to remove the remaining
uses of TargetLowering in favor of the IR-layer abstract interface in
TargetTransformInfo.

5e8904576a Implement new LibCallSimplifier class
This patch implements the new LibCallSimplifier class as outlined in [1].
In addition to providing the new base library simplification infrastructure,
all the fortified library call simplifications were moved over to the new
infrastructure. The rest of the library simplification optimizations will
be moved over with follow up patches.

NOTE: The original fortified library call simplifier located in the
SimplifyFortifiedLibCalls class was not removed because it is still
used by CodeGenPrepare. This class will eventually go away too.

2e2efd9600 Generic Bypass Slow Div
- CodeGenPrepare pass for identifying div/rem ops
- Backend specifies the type mapping using addBypassSlowDivType
- Enabled only for Intel Atom with O2 32-bit -> 8-bit
- Replace IDIV with instructions which test its value and use DIVB if the value
is positive and less than 256.
- In the case when the quotient and remainder of a divide are used a DIV
and a REM instruction will be present in the IR. In the non-Atom case
they are both lowered to IDIVs and CSE removes the redundant IDIV instruction,
using the quotient and remainder from the first IDIV. However,
due to this optimization CSE is not able to eliminate redundant
IDIV instructions because they are located in different basic blocks.
This is overcome by calculating both the quotient (DIV) and remainder (REM)
in each basic block that is inserted by the optimization and reusing the result
values when a subsequent DIV or REM instruction uses the same operands.
- Test cases check for the presents of the optimization when calculating
either the quotient, remainder, or both.

5d73448bb7 Add -unroll-runtime for unrolling loops with run-time trip counts.
Patch by Brendon Cahoon!

This extends the existing LoopUnroll and LoopUnrollPass. Brendon
measured no regressions in the llvm test suite with -unroll-runtime
enabled. This implementation works by using the existing loop
unrolling code to unroll the loop by a power-of-two (default 8). It
generates an if-then-else sequence of code prior to the loop to
execute the extra iterations before entering the unrolled loop.

ac03e736c7 Rewrite the CMake build to use explicit dependencies between libraries,
specified in the same file that the library itself is created. This is
more idiomatic for CMake builds, and also allows us to correctly specify
dependencies that are missed due to bugs in the GenLibDeps perl script,
or change from compiler to compiler. On Linux, this returns CMake to
a place where it can relably rebuild several targets of LLVM.

I have tried not to change the dependencies from the ones in the current
auto-generated file. The only places I've really diverged are in places
where I was seeing link failures, and added a dependency. The goal of
this patch is not to start changing the dependencies, merely to move
them into the correct location, and an explicit form that we can control
and change when necessary.

This also removes a serialization point in the build because we don't
have to scan all the libraries before we begin building various tools.
We no longer have a step of the build that regenerates a file inside the
source tree. A few other associated cleanups fall out of this.

This isn't really finished yet though. After talking to dgregor he urged
switching to a single CMake macro to construct libraries with both
sources and dependencies in the arguments. Migrating from the two macros
to that style will be a follow-up patch.

Also, llvm-config is still generated with GenLibDeps.pl, which means it
still has slightly buggy dependencies. The internal CMake
'llvm-config-like' macro uses the correct explicitly specified
dependencies however. A future patch will switch llvm-config generation
(when using CMake) to be based on these deps as well.

This may well break Windows. I'm getting a machine set up now to dig
into any failures there. If anyone can chime in with problems they see
or ideas of how to solve them for Windows, much appreciated.
